Yes, that's been bandied about for years, but no-one seems to have figured out how to keep it from being demolished by the waves!

Thanks cubsur love to see your pictures of the marina development, not been to albuferia for a few years so pop to this forum now and again to see the progress. I once read an article that a walkway could be built to link the marina to the beach.

The gates to the little park were open last Sunday. First time ever. I don't whether it's by accident after the circus event that took place there over Christmas, or whether permanent. There were some people around. It does look as if the place has been tidied up. Nearby, work continues on the multi-million Euro mansions. I really don't know what to make of the monolith in the first two pictures. Sorry about the sun, it's in the wrong place. There are still large areas of basically wasteland, most unappealing for those who have spent €€€€ on luxury living. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The new road towards the marina is not yet finished. Beside it are two very large areas being cleared for more mansions. |

The extension of the great wall is now visible. There is no longer any access to the marina down that way. On foot, you now have to cross what is becoming a building site to some steps. By road, a very long way around! What was the market site. Not sure what is happening here. Maybe just being used a dump. The remains of the entrance to the livestock market can be seen. ![]() More new expensive houses going up here. The extension of the Great Wall Above the wall on what has been an empty and neglected area for years.

Behind the Great Wall, work continues on the new mansions. But the extension of the wall itself and associated work seems to have made little progress over the last two months. The park is looking very dry and neglected. Still locked. Somewhat bizarrely, some sprinklers were going in the middle of the day! All this talk about saving water seems not to matter. What's the problem of running the sprinklers at night when the water might do some good? Still a lot of weeds around. I wonder what's going on here? I saw no signs or notices. |

I won't be able to get down there before my departure on Friday for a trip to UK. If it wasn't so foggy I would be able to see it out of my window. Certainly there are works in progress.

Hi Tom, not the right place I know but I couldn't find a more relevant topic. You may want to check out the old abandoned Marina developments. The one furthest inland that was least finished. There has been a couple of diggers there the last month on the top road, which we have seen when driving but yesterday taking an unusual route home from the marina, we could see alot of activty down below. They have been making new terraces and there are lots of drainage pipes stacked up. I don't believe this is old stuff, everything looks new. Whether it is a sign the site has been sold I don't know but it is encouraging.

The Great Wall Of Albufeira extension, I Like it. Apparently there are going to be 22 new villas on that piece of land to the South. There will be steps there to enable occupants of said houses to get down to the marina. This is inspite of the fact that the one thing they don't seem able to do is build steps well. The ones to the west that border the recently built villas have subsided, been repaired and subsided again.

Tuesday 27th May. Plenty of activity! Workers busy cementing on the one I thought had stopped. Out of shot a JCB was busy digging away. Just up the road... New plots being levelled. This little tent in the otherwise closed park houses a Digital Nomad workshop and meeting. All the activity is in stark contrast to weed strewn wasteland nearby. This construction is taking place at the foot of the ramped road that leads down into the marina, which is now blocked. Judging by what been stacked further up the hill, it looks to be drainage installation but do I see an extension being formed to the Great Wall of Albufeira? It certainly lines up. And the boats in the marina, all bright and shiny.
