LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES

Farense 2 - 1 Sporting B att. 2091
Marítimo 1 - 0 Portimonense att. 8827

A cruel defeat for Portimonense away at the table toppers, with the only goal coming in the 11th minute of added time. That result and others leaves Portimonense 17th of 18 teams on 30 points. Farense rise to 15th, but their 32 points need to be added to.

Next weekend, Portimonense will be at home to Lourosa (11th) ko 11:00 on Sunday morning 19th April. Farense travel up north to 5th placed Vizela.

One game remains in this first phase. Louletano are guaranteed to finish top and progress to the second phase promotion playoff series. Portimonense B are relegated back to the Algarve League. Moncarapachense will join them unless they win their last game away to Elvas by at least a two goal margin. Elvas will go down instead of Moncarpachense if that should happen. No pressure!

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES

Liga Meu Super

Vital wins for both Farense and Portimonense, particularly for Portimonense who were 2-1 down when 14 (!) minutes added time were announced. They scored twice in the added time and came off 3-2 winners.

Portimonense 3 - 2 Lourosa att. 911
Vizela 0 - 2 Farense att. 1647

Portimonense are 17th of 18 teams, six pints clear of bottom club Olivereinse but only four points behind Felgueiras in 13th place. Farense are 15th with 35 points. Four games remain.

Next Saturday, Farense will be at home to 2nd placed Académico Viseu ko 1400hrs on Saturday. Portimonense travel to the Porto area to play mid-table Leixões.

Final round of matches

Elvas 0 - 0 Moncarapachense
Sintrense 2 - 1 Portimonense B
Louletano 1 - 2 Malveira
Lagoa 1 - 2 Alcochetense

Despite that defeat, Louletano finish top and go through to the second stage against the other three group winners and runners-up to determine the championship and promotion to the Third Division. Moncarapachense and Portimonense Bare relegated to the Algarve League.

The second phase begins on Sunday. Louletano will be away to Malveira in the first of a six game series, which also includes GD Sernache (based in Sertã) and FC Oliveira do Hospital, who are up near Coimbra.

Algarve League Division One Second Phase

Olhanense 2 - 1 Silves
Quarteirense 0 - 0 Ferreiras

Four games played. Imortal are top, 12 points clear of Ferreiras and 15 ahead of Quarteirense. Imortal visit Ferreiras next Saturday. A point will turn this into a two horse race, a win would require Imortal to lose all five of their last matches not to be champions and promoted. But Imortal will be short of several key players because of suspensions.

Next Saturday, all games at 1600hrs / 4pm

Championship Group

Lagos v Olhanense
Silves v Quarteirense
Ferreiras v Imortal Albufeira

Relegation Group

Cultatrense 2 - 3 Odiáxere
Messinense 0 - 2 FCOs 11 Esperanças
Louletano B 0 - 2 FC Os Armancanenses

At the end where it matters, Culatrense are bottom with 17 points, FC Os 11 Esperanças just above them on 20 and Messinse have 22. Then there's a nine point gap.

Internacional Almancil v Carvoeiro United ko 1900hrs / 7pm

Meaningless other group

Monchique 1 - 1 Bensafrim
Campinense 5 - 2 Marítimo Olhanense

Paderne are top with 21 points from 10 games, Campinense second with 20 points from eight. They are way ahead of the rest. With only six teams completing the season, Paderne have finished their programme.

There will be just the one game next weekend. The league did not re-arrange the matches.

Marítimo Olhanense v Monchique ko 1900hrs / 7pm

WOMEN'S FOOTBALL
National League Second Division Second Phase
Relegation Group

After two weekends without a game, Guia resume with a trip to bottom club Estoril and an expected win to keep them at the right end of the table and avoid relegation. There are three games remaining. They currently stand fifth of eight teams.

National League Fourth Division Second Phase
Promotion Group South

Vasco da Gama Vidigueira 1 - 1 Ferrairas

With three games remaining, Ferreiras look destined to finish third, eight points behind Sintrense in second place. A worthy effort for a small club, but not quite enough. Next Sunday they will be at home to leaders Académica Coimbra, ko 1600hrs.

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES

Liga Meu Super

Farense 0 - 0 Académico Viseu att. 2197
Leixões 2 - 1 Portimonense att. 1182

With three games remaining, the bottom of the table looks like this. I have started at 14th, even though mathematically even the team in 9th could be relegated if all the results combined in a very unlikely manner.

14th - Penafiel 38 points
15th - Farense 36 points
16th - Paços de Ferreira 35 points
17th - Portimonense 33 points
18th - Oliveirense 30 points

Remember that the team finishing 16th goes into a two-legged playoff against the team finishing third in Liga 3.

17th and 18th are relegated automatically.

These are the games for the bottom five teams next weekend.

Oliveirense v Lourosa (6th) that's on Saturday
Portimonense v Chaves (9th) at 11:00am on Sunday morning
Paços de Ferreira v Feirense (12th) on Sunday afternoon as is
Leiria (4th, and looking for a play-off spot at least) v Farense
Torreense (3rd) v Penafiel on Monday evening.

A big ask for both Algarve teams, in fact all the bottom teams. Of some note is that the fates have decreed that Portimonense will be at home to Farense on the last weekend of the season!

Campeonato de Portugal Second Phase Championship group south.

Two groups of four playing each other twice. The winners of each group will be promoted and play also in a single match championship final.

In the south group, Louletano made a good start winning 2-1 at Malveira. They have another away trip next Sunday to Oliveira Hospital up near Aveiro, who lost their first game 2-1.

Algarve League Dvision 1 Second Phase
Championship Group

Fifth game of the ten games series

Lagos 3- 0 Olhanense
Silves 1 - 2 Quarteirense
Ferreiras 2 - 1 Imortal Albufeira

It's a three horse race from now on. Imortal remain top with 66 points, Ferreiras are second on 57 then come Quarteirense on 54.

Next Saturday's games, all at 1600hrs / 4pm

Lagos v Quarteirense
Olhanense v Imortal Albufeira
Silves v Ferreiras

Relegation Group
Also five games into the ten game series

Odiáxere 4 - 2 Messinense
FC Os 11 Esperanças 1 - 0 Louletano B
FC Os Armacanenses 2 - 1 Culatrense

At the end where it matters, FCOs 11 Esperanças are 4th with 23 points, Messinense 5th on 22 and Culatrense bottom on 17.

Next Saturday, all currently shown as 1600hrs / 4pm kickoff

Messinense v Culatrense
FC Os 11 Esperanças v FC Os Armancanenses
Odiáxere v Louletano B

Algarve League Division 2 Second Phase
Promotion Group

13th game of an 18 game series

Lusitano VRSA 3 - 4 Sport Faro Benfica
Portimonense SC 3 - 2 Sambrasense
Lagoa B 1 - 2 Guia
Internacional Almancil 2 - 3 Carvoeiro United
Alvor 0 - 3 Quarteira

Carvoeiro United lead on 21 points, nine ahead of Lusitano VRSA but who have a game in hand. Guia are third on 22 points, Sport Faro Benfica also have22 points and Internacional Almancil are 5th on 21 points. It's expected that the top two teams will be promoted, so some interesting games in store.

Next Saturday and note different ko times

Sambrasense v Sport Faro Benfica 1500hrs / 3pm
Alvor v Lusitano VRSA 1600hrs / 4pm
Carvoeiro United v Lagoa B ko 1900hrs / 7pm at Estombar
Quarteira SC v Internacional Almancil ko 1900hrs / 7pm
Guia v Portimonense SC ko 1900hrs / 7pm

Other group of meaningless matches!

Six clubs involved, therefore ten games to be played

Marítimo Olhanense 0 - 4 Monchique was the only game last weekend

Paderne are top, having played all their games. They have 21 points. Campinense, with two games remaining, are on 20 points. The rest also ran.

Next Saturday both at 1900hrs / 7pm

Monchique v Campinense
FC 4 ao Cubo v Bensafrim

WOMEN'S FOOTBALL

National League Second Division Second Phase
Relegation Group

Estoril 0 - 1 Guia

Not enough for Guia, who stand 5th on 15 points and are now relegated to the third division for next season. They have two games remaining, the first of which will be next Sunday at home to Leixões (also relegated) ko 1600hrs / 4m

National League Fourth Division Second Phase
Promotion Group South

Ferreiras 0 - 6 Académica

Two games remaining and Ferreiras, although third, are now out of the running for the single promotion spot. That will be contested by Académica and Sintrense, who are both on 30 points.
