LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES

The Segunda Liga (Second Division) gets under way next weekend. With three Algarve teams in this season, there promises to be at least a few interesting games!

The first set of matches sees all three at home, with TV requiring Olhanese to be out of bed early on Saturday.

Saturday 9th August 1115ko - Olhanense v Leixoes
Sunday 10th August 1700ko - Portimonense v Covilha
Sunday 10th August 1900ko - Farense v Sporting B

As a prelude to the season, the group phase of the first round of the League Cup has almost finished. Neither Portimonense nor Farense will be taking any further part. Olhanense will join them in oblivion if they fail to win their third match next Wednesday afternoon.

The Superliga (Premier Division) starts over the weekend of 16th / 17th August. There is no Algarve interest this season but I observe that the TV company has still not decided when the matches are to be played. Must do wonders for the training schedule. Supporters - who cares that they won't know when the game is until a week beforehand!

Re:Televised games, I wouldn't mind but you know it will be Benfica, Porto and Sporting, there's no big secret, it' s just a matter of which one plays when.

There were similar complaints in England this season when it took so long between the fixtures coming out and Sky/BT deciding which one of the Sky four played when. The difference there being that the delay meant travelling supporters missing out on cheaper, early booking train tickets, so actually being out of pocket. Not a problem for the armchair followers of Portugal's own greedy three...

More importantly the pan-European televised three o'clock game this weekend is Brentford v Charlton, so an early opportunity for disappointment via a stream in One 4 the Road.

I never thought I would see the words Charlton and  Pan European in the same sentence! Good luck, I shall keep an eye out for the result. No football or rugby where I am going to be for the next few days.

Meanwhile Tonbridge Angels begin their season in the Ryman League with a visit from the mighty VCD Athletic, a result that will appear in blurred print around 5pm!

The Portuguese have now been told when the first matches are being played in the Superliga. Predictably, FC Porto are playing on Friday night 16th August, Sporting on Saturday night and Braga on Sunday night. These are all on Sport TV. Also on Sunday night, at the same time, Benfica are playing. Benfica now have sole rights to show all their home matches on their own channel, Benfica TV. So for €9,99 a month (if you already have cable or satellite) you can save the bother of stirring yourself to actually go to the stadium. Better still, go to a bar and for a €1,50 beer (at the most) watch the game with your mates.

Weekend Results - Segunda Liga

Olhanense 2 - 0 Leixoes att. unknown
Portimonense 1 - 1 Covilha att 564
Farense 1 - Sporting B att 1034.

All three Algarve clubs are away on 17th August.

Also, they abandoned the plan to split the segunda liga into two, so the 24 clubs will now play a ludicrous 46 match season. It does mean plenty of midweek afternoon matches at the three Algarve grounds - they play in the afternoon, usually on a Wednesday, to save the cost of putting the floodlights on.

The Campeonato Nacional Seniores (3rd tier) gets under way on 24th August.

There is as yet no date on which the Algarve league will start but it won't be before the end of September.

Olhanense made a fruitless trip to Leixoes yesterday afternoon in their final match of the group staage of the League Cup. A 0-0 draw in front of 448 diehards ensured they will also take no further part in proceedings.

Last weekend's results next weekend's games

2nd Tier - Segunda Liga

Farense 0 - 1 Santa Clara att 546
Olhanense 0 - 1 Sporting B att unknown
Portimonense 0 - 0 Oriental att unknown

A poor show by the three Algarve teams. A lack of goals is the obvious symptom. Farense and Portimonense have between them scored just two goals in six matches thus far.

There will be matches on Wednesday afternoon, with Farense and Olhanense both travelling. Portimonense's game in this round of matches is out in Madeira and is scheduled for Saturday 6th September.

Then, on Sunday 31st, there will be :

Olhanense v Maritimo ko 1500hrs
Portimonense v Feirense ko 1600hrs
Farense v Braga B ko 1700hrs.

3rd Tier - Campeonato Nacional Seniores Group H - first match of the season

Quarteirense     1-0     Lusitano VRSA
Ferreiras     2-0     Louletano

I went to the match at Ferreiras. The first half was scrappy, the second half poor. Farense just about deserved their win, scoring twice in the first half but missing some good chances in the second. Former Imortal star Sandro scored an excellent second from close range, finishing off an sweeping move down the left wing. He was later guilty of a horrible miss, breaking an offside trap to set up a one-on-one with the 'keeper, but then getting caught in about six minds. Cue apoplexy from management.

Louletano made few chances, the Ferreiras 'keeper foiled one opponent with an excellent grab, pouncing on a loose ball as a cat would a mouse, front paws extended.

Another ex- Imortal man Sustelo was a second half substitute, also guilty of a glaring miss late in the game.

The last half hour degenerated into a sequence of petty fouls, yellow cards and playacting as is so often the case in the lower leagues here.

BTW admission for this division has increased to €7 per game.

Next Sunday's games here in the Algarve will be at 1700hrs

Lusitano VRSA     v     Moura
Louletano     v     At. Reguengos

Not many games this weekend as it's international weekend plus the 1st round of the Portuguese Cup

Segunda Liga

União Madeira v Portimonense postponed - trying again today at 1600hrs! Apparently their flight to Madeira was delayed and they successfully lobbied the League to get the game rescheduled. There are sarcastic comments about jet lag on the home team's Facebook page and a very strongly worded statement from the club condemning the League as 'terrorists' in refusing to allow a 7pm kickoff so fans could actually get to the game after work.

Cup 1st Round
At. Malveira 4 - Lusitano VRSA 1 after extra time
Ferreiras 0 - 3 Famalicao an awful performance from Ferreiras, who managed not one shot on target in the 90 minutes.

When it's not your day, it's not your day!

19th minute and Nelson Cruz, the Ferreiras 'keeper, makes a total hash of a clearance, kicking the ball straight at a man in a white shirt, who lobs it back over his head into the net.

Five minutes later, he gets both hands to a penalty but it hits the post and goes in.

NEXT WEEKEND'S MATCHES

Segunda Liga

Farense v Porto B SATURDAY 13th ko 1900hrs

Olhanense and Portimonense are both away

Campeonato Nacional Seniores Group H Sunday at 4pm

Quarteirense v Aljustrelense
Lusitano VRSA v Operario

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEK'S GAMES

Segunda Liga

Farense 1 Porto B 0  att 607 winner was an 88th minute penalty.
Santa Clara O Olhanense 0 att.unknown
Sporting B 0 Portimonense 0 att.391

A reasonable weekend for the three Algarve teams, but in front of pathetic attendances.

Farense, Olhanense and Portimonese are 8th, 9th and 10th respectively.

For anyone keen to see a second tier game this week, there are midweek matches and don't forget these are played in the afternoons to save money. Admission 10 - 12 Euros, pay at the gate.

Wednesday 17th September in the Algarve

Olhanese v Uniao Madeira ko 3pm / 1500hrs

Farense are away, Portimonense's home match is postponed until 12th October.

Sunday 21st September

Farense v Portimonense local Algarve derby ko 5pm / 1700hrs
Olhanense will be away.

Campeonato Nacional Seniores

Group H

At. Reguengos     0-1     SC Praiense
Angrense     2-1     Louletano
Quarteirense     2-0     Aljustrelense
Lusitano VRSA     P-P     Operário Lagoa
Moura     1-2     Ferreiras

Quarteirense are 3rd and Ferreiras 4th. Reason for postponement - Operário Lagoa are based in the Azores and their flight was cancelled!

Next Sunday's games in the Algarve, ko 3pm / 1500hrs

Louletano     v     Quarteirense
Ferreiras     v    At. Reguengos

ALGARVE LEAGUE

Season will begin on Saturday 4th October.

Imortal start with a home game against a new team, Carvoeiro United. I will have the fixtures completely written up over the next couple of evenings. There are eighteen teams in the League, so plenty of games to see. The new teams include the B team or reserves of SC Farense. Teams gone are Aljezurense and Inter Almancil. A couple of clubs have changed names.

All shall be revealed in due course.

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEK'S GAMES

Segunda Liga

Farense 1 - 0 Portimonense attendance 747 (yes sad isn't it for a local derby. The 5 Euro bus fare was obviously too much)
Oriental 0 - 2 Olhanense attendance 461

As a result, Farense are now 7th, Olhanense 8th and Portimonense 15th.

No games next weekend as it will be the second round of the Portuguese FA Cup - see below.

Campeonato Nacional Seniores Group H

Operário Lagoa     1-0     Moura
Aljustrelense     2-0     Lusitano VRSA
Louletano     1-0     Quarteirense
Ferreiras     1-1     At. Reguengos
SC Praiense     0-1     Angrense

Ferreiras are second with 7 points from three games, Louletano and Quarteirense one point behind but Lusitano are struggling at the bottom

Again, no games next week.

NEXT WEEKEND PORTUGUESE FA CUP SECOND ROUND

So far as I know all games are on Sunday 28th September, kickoff 1500hrs / 3pm

Algarve teams at home

Portimonense v Real Sport Club
Olhanense v Quarteirense

Louletano, Silves and Farense will be away.

The Algarve League starts on Saturday 4th October.

Hi, I'm currently living just outside Lagos, I've managed to find fixtures and get to Ferreiras and Louletano, but couldn't find anything about the algarve league. Does anyone have a link to the complete fixtures or in particular Lagos and Odiaxere. Hopefully I can make it over to Imortal next weekend but I want to do some more local games if possible.

Thanks, Andy.

If you can read some Portuguese there is an excellent website for all things football called "zerozero.pt" - on the RH sidebar the word "distritais" will appear - behind this are all the various district league fixtures for the whole country (once released) - if you select "AF Algarve" and then "Seniores" you will get to the full fixture detail you are looking for

Yeah I've tried that, unfortunately it directs to the youth league at present.

OK - no-one has put the detail on there yet it seems - first matches are 4th Oct and detail is on the afalgarve website (under "campeonatos")

Kickoff times are normally 3pm on Saturday (except at Guia, where they always start at 4pm) but any changes are not normally confirmed until the Tuesday prior.

These can also be found on the AF Algarve website but not on that page. Changes to kickoffs particularly apply to the teams in Faro who share grounds ie Culatrense, Faro e Benfica and the 11 Esperancas.

On my holidays in August when driving through Faro we passed a university and there was a stadium there with 1 stand as far as I could see. Does a local team play there?

Posted By: cubsur
Date Posted: 30/September/2014 at 11:36
There is a small stadium at Penha, near that University campus on the north side of the city, where a couple of teams have played in the past. That might be the one, I've been there myself. There was once a team based at the University itself but that folded long ago.

I was looking but find there is no comment/report on the Olhanense/Farense game from Wednesday?

All I know is Farense won 3 - 1 and Olhanense had a man sent of early in the first half.

Posted By: cubsur

Wednesday results from the Segunda Liga (I was ill yesterday, bad cold, hence delay.)

Olhanense 1 Farense 3 attendance 1778. This was the first competitive match between the local rivals for ten years.

Olhanense did indeed have a man sent off after just 16 minutes, having managed to get himself booked twice in three minutes, the second one for handball in the penalty area. Farense equalised the home side's 3rd minute goal from the resulting penalty. Despite the 'keeper saving the initial shot the rebound was put in. Farense made it 2-1 by half time and scored again from the spot after 70 minutes to make it 3-1.

There is a short match report in Portuguese at http://www.regiao-sul.pt/noticia.php?refnoticia=148979" rel="nofollow - http://www.regiao-sul.pt/noticia.php?refnoticia=148979

Seems there was trouble in the stadium and numerous 'hot' moments. There were seven other players booked.

Portimonense 2 Porto B 0 attendance 406

Two second half goals for the Algarve side.

After these games, the 9th of the very long season,  Farense are now in 6th position, Olhanense slip to 10th and Portimonense are 12th, although they have a game in hand.

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES

Segunda Liga

Porto B 7 - 0 Olhanense attendance 290

Ouch! Olhanense were already three down when defender Bastos was sent off on 55 minutes. There followed a deluge.

Beira Mar Aveiro 1 - 3 Portimonense attendance 685 (in a 30,000 seat stadium)

Three goals within five minutes midway through the second half for the Algarve side maintained their recent good form.

Farense 1 - 1 Guimarães B attendance 1122

Farense would have gone second in the table has they won, but instead are sixth, one place above Portimonense who have a game in hand. Olhanense slip to 12th after a run of only one win in five.

Next weekend

Sunday 12th October ko 1100am (for live TV) Portimonense v Santa Clara. I wonder how many will drag themselves out of bed for that one!

No game for Farense and Olhanense owing to the international matches.

Campeonato Nacional Seniors group H 1st phase

Operário Lagoa     4-2     Aljustrelense
Quarteirense     1-2     SC Praiense
Lusitano VRSA     0-4     Louletano

Last weekend's results, next week's games

Portugal FA Cup 3rd Round

Olhanense 2 - 4 Oriental Lisboa. No doubt they put out their second team, but Olhanense wouldn't have expected to lose to a team one tier below them. There are no Algarve teams left in the Cup.

That's about the strength of it. Olhanense were 1-0 up at half time, 1-1 when the player was sent off after a second yellow within the space of two minutes, after which they collapsed.

432 fans skived off work or whatever to watch the game, which was played at Benfica's training complex at Seixal.

Olhanense are now in 16th position, three points clear of the relegation zone.

The match at Portimonense was postponed on Monday afternoon and rescheduled for Saturday15th. Farense likewise moved their game to Sunday 16th, both during the international weekend and about which neither they nor their opponents have any concerns!

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES

Segunda Liga

Portimonense 2 - 1 Oliveirense att. 661
Farense 3 - 0 Leixões no details available
Olhanense 0 - 0 Viseu no details available

Portimonense rise to 7th in the table and are now just four points outside the promotion spots. Farense are 13th and Olhanense 17th, the latter are only three points above the relegation zone.

There are no games next weekend in the Segunda Liga. The weekend is set aside for League Cup matches and none of the three Algarve teams remain in the competition.

Campeonato Nacional Seniores Group H First Phase

Aljustrelense     0-2     Operário Lagoa
Louletano     2-0     Lusitano VRSA
SC Praiense     2-2     Quarteirense
Ferreiras     0-1     Angrense
At. Reguengos     0-1     Moura

Louletano stay in second place, three points behind leaders Operário Lagoa. Lusitano are fifth, Ferreiras seventh and Quarteirense eight. None of those three can now escape being in the 'relegation' group when the second phase begins in February.

Next Sunday 28th December here in the Algarve

Quarteirense v Ferreiras ko 1500hrs / 3pm

Louletano travel the 1,000 miles or so to the Azores to meet Operário Lagoa in a vital match. Lusitano have no game, their match in this round has already been played.

ALGARVE LEAGUE

Mexilhoeira Grande FC     1-0     Farense B
Silves     3-2     Armacenenses
Culatrense     2-0     Carvoeiro United
Almancilense     0-1     Moncarapachense
Quarteira     2-0     Monchiquense
Esp. Lagos     0-1     Padernense
Faro e Benfica     5-3     Odiáxere
Imortal Albufeira     2-1     11 Esperanças
Guia     1-1     GD Lagoa

The clash between the top two went the way of Moncarapachense and they now go top on goal difference. Typical of this season that Farense B, who destroyed Imortal last Saturday, should be beaten by the team at rock bottom in only their second win of the season!

Paderne's good form continues and they are now seventh, Imortal are 10th after Saturday's win and Guia are thirteenth.

There will be no Algarve league matches next weekend. Fixtures resume on Saturday 3rd January.

Women's League Second Division Group D

No matches last weekend. Next Sunday Guia FC will be at home to Castrense, ko 1500hrs / 3pm.

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES

Segunda Liga

Farense 1 - 0 Covilhã att 832
Portimonense 4 - 2 Viseu att 871
Olhanense 2 - 1 Oliveirense att unknown

The good run of form by Portimonense continues and they are now n fourth place and only two points behind the leaders. Might even be worth watching them in a couple of weeks!

Farense climb to 12th and the vital win for Olhanense takes them clear of the relegation zone into 17th spot.

All three Algarve teams wll be away next weekend.

Campeonato Nacional Seniores group H first phase.

Louletano     1-0     Moura
Aljustrelense     3-1     SC Praiense
Lusitano VRSA     4-3     At. Reguengos
Quarteirense     0-3     Angrense
Operário Lagoa     3-0     Ferreiras

With one game remaining in the first phase, Louletano need to win to guarantee a place in the promotion round second phase. A draw would probably do as they have a vastly superior goal difference to the only team that can overtake them.

THEY CHANGED THE DATE! FINAL ROUND OF FIRST PHASE MATCHES SUNDAY 18 JANUARY

Ferreiras v Aljustrelense is the only game in the Algarve though, ko 3pm / 1500hrs.

The other three Algarve teams are away,

Algarve League

Almancilense     8-0     Padernense
Imortal DC     3-1     Armacenenses
Mexilhoeira Grande FC     1-7     GD Lagoa

Faro e Benfica     5-1     Carvoeiro United
Silves     1-3     Odiáxere
Culatrense     2-0     Monchiquense

Paderne's run of form came to a shuddering halt at leaders Almancil. The radio commentator that afternoon was beside himself poor man! Paderne drop from 4th to 7th as a consequence, Imortal rise to 10th after a good win and Guia are 12th.

Hi, newbie here.

Odiaxere 1 Imortal 0 last night, nothing to write home about. Imortal caught cold with a neat move from the home team one minute after half-time. There was a late flurry but the home defence stood firm. Imortal looked quite a young team, with a tiny goalkeeper.

I've been covertly following Cubsurs football info for several years now, as I visit the Algarve around this time of year. Plenty of matches for an anorack like me!

Mention was made earlier of FC Stuttgart staying down here. Their twitter has them playing two games soon.....
Monday 19th v KF Laci [Albania] 1430hrs at Lagos Cascade Resort {any ideas on this locale?}.
Thursday 22nd v Farense 1500hrs at Lagos {dunno whether this is the Municipal ground or Cascade}.

Thanks for the great work, Cubsur.

Lofters, thanks. it's normal for the second string players to be used in cup ties so not a surprising result. The current first team 'keeper is though very small!

Lagos Cascade resort is just outside the town of Lagos - http://goo.gl/maps/33VNA" rel="nofollow - https://goo.gl/maps/33VNA

I don't know if it will be open to public nor can I confirm the venue for the second match but I know a man who does! I will update here asap.

There is nothing on the Farense website, as one would expect.

Thanks for this Cubsur.
I'll be at both [assuming I can locate the ground].

Wonder if any of the Albanians will make a break for it over the fence at fulltime?

Ferreiras' site has their last 'group' league game on this Sunday the 18th, v Aljustrelense @1500hrs....... several other sites agree with this.

Addicts might also be interested in   http://www.theatlanticcup.com/   Eight days of midwinter break competition hosted across the Algarve. Based on last seasons competition I reckon the attendances will be <10 plus an occasional dog.Confused

Segunda Liga

Leixões 1 -0 Portimonense att 690
Feiresne 1 - 1 Farense att 755
Átletico 3 - 2 Olhanense att 293

A bit of a blow for Portimonense after a good run. They drop to fifth, but with the top two having drawn with each other they are still only two points off the promotion zone. Farense's point keeps them in 13th, Olhanense are 18th of 24 teams and six points clear of the relegation dotted line.

Hi great info here thanks
I travel from UK to watch games mainly in Spain, Holland or Portugal on overnight trips so this info is invaluable.
Went to watch Culatrense v Esp Lagos on Saturday .. Good result considering they were down tob10 men for about 55 minutes of the match.
Back over on Feb 7th so might take in a game at Estadio Algarve
Are taxis available at the stadium following the game back to Faro marina and any idea how much ?
The trains are pretty sporadic
Cheers

Very very few games in the Estadio Algarve. Myself and Cubsur did go to one last month and there were no taxis or buses, we drove. You would probably have to pre book a taxi from Faro to pick you up after the game and I'm sure Cubsur will be along shortly with further info.

UPDATED 21 JAN

There will be a double-header at the Algarve Stadium - the finals of the 'Atlantic Cup' a midwinter break tournament for Russian and Scandinavian teams. See post below.

Rather bizarrely Farense B played another game at the Algarve Stadium a couple of weeks ago, while their first team unusually played on a Saturday but in the São Luis ground in the city centre!

All three Algarve Segunda Liga teams will be away on 7th / 8th February.

Farense B are also due to be away on 7th February so I guess that means no-one playing at the Algarve Stadium.

Imortal will be travelling to Estombar to meet the mighty Carvoeiro United.

Here are the complete Algarve League fixtures for Saturday 7th Feb

Odiáxere     v     Farense B
Quarteira     v     Guia
Carvoeiro United     v     Imortal Albufeira
Padernense     v     Mexilhoeira Grande FC

My apologies to the ladies of Guia!

They won 3-2 on Sunday at home to Quintajense and now stand 6th of 10 teams after three consecutive wins. They don't play at home in the League again until 22nd February.

Next Sunday they travel to Vila Verde for a 4th round (last 16) cup tie.

hmmm should brondby and copenhagen end up meeting each other down there...then expect some serious trouble. they havent had a game for the last 10 years without massive clashes...last time some 450 fans were arrested up here in copenhagen. the hate between the 2 set of fans is massive....i shall be coming down to monitor the situation  ;-)

Monitor the situation!!

Result from last night Algarve Cup Second Round - words from Lofters

Lagos 3 Silves 0

Painless, one-sided win for Lagos who turned quite a strong looking side out. Silves were a mixture of youth and not very capable seniors.
The visitors had a good first ten minutes with one or two half chances, but once Lagos had acclimatised to the monsoon conditions Silves never again worked the home goalkeeper.
Poor chap might be out with flu/hypothermia for the next game!
Almost no-one watching, so I was able to commandeer one of the covered 'officials' suites at the top of the main stand.

Based on my experience last year when Copenhagen won the Atlantic Cup, cant see any trouble occurring.
Might have been around 15 expat Copenhagen fans following their games, the plod comfortably outnumbered the entire crowd at all the games.
No 'travelling' Danes, just like the Icelandic/Swedish/Russian/Czech clubs who took part.

The organisers seem to keep teams from the same country apart which is sensible, so maybe the playoffs will be 'adjusted'..... I think its the first year they've gone deeper than just playing for the title.

What is slightly mystifying to me is that this year all the games are at Olhao and Est Algarve [bar one playoff at Ferreiras]. The cost of running the comp must have risen quite a bit!....... last year they used Imortal and Ferreiras mainly.

Suppose the quality of Imortals pitch may be a factor.

I would imagine they get a discount for the Algarve Stadium and Olhanense are apparently in desperate financial straits so need the money. The competing clubs can afford it!

They are playing some games on a Saturday which rules out the better local grounds as we are playing. And yes the pitch at Imortal is a bit iffy at the moment, but having said that when we went to the Algarve Stadium to watch Imortal a month ago that pitch wasn't exactly top quality either.

It took at least eight armed GNR to keep order that day among the crowd of about 100.

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEK'S GAMES

Segunda Liga

Farense 1 - 0 Oriental att 655
Olhanese 0 - 0 Covilhã att 484
Portimonense 1 - 0 União Madeira att 580

Portimonense keep in touch with the leaders, they are currently 7th on 43 points and just four pooints from a promotion place. Farense climb away from the relegation zone with that win, but Olhanenese are still in trouble with only four points separating them from the drop zone.

There is a full midweek programme, but all three Algarve teams will be away. All the games will be in the afternoon on a working day, so crowds will be even more pitiful than normal.

Next Sunday 22nd February two of the three Algarve teams will be back home thus :

Portimonense v Sporting B ko 1115hrs / 1115am - changed on Wednesday so it can be on TV!
Olhanense v Santa Clara ko 1500hrs / 3pm

Almancilense     1-0     Faro e Benfica
Guia     2-3     Culatrense
Farense B     2-0     Padernense

It's getting tight at the top now. That defeat for Moncarapachense means that Almancil are level on points with them. Both have 45 points, while Lagoa move into third place with 42 and Culatrense are fourth on 40. Paderne drop to seventh, while Imortal and Guia are 11th and 13th respectively.

There is a full programme on Wednesday night  all ko at 2030hrs

Yesterday's results

Segunda Liga - all played in the afternoon!

Braga B 0 - 0 Farense att 420
Feirense 2 - 1 Portimonense att 539 three reds, six yellows.
Maritimo B 1-0 Olhanese  att 372

As a consequence, Portimonense have dropped to 9th and have probably blown their chance of promotion which I doubt they would want anyway, Olhanense are now only two points above the relegation mark, while Farense are sitting comfortably in mid-table.

ALGARVE LEAGUE

Starting with the shock result

Culatrense 0 - 3 Imortal Albufeira. Typical. Haven't beaten them for years, so on a night when I cannot go Imortal turn in a show like that!

Other scores

Faro e Benfica     4-1     Silves
Moncarapachense     5-1     Armacenenses
Odiáxere     0-4     GD Lagoa
Padernense     5-3     11 Esperanças
Carvoeiro United     1-0     Farense B
Quarteira     3-0     Mexilhoeira Grande FC
Esp. Lagos     2-2     Guia
Almancilense     8-0     Monchiquense

Moncarapachense and Almancilense are still neck and neck at the top on 48 points, Lagoa are third three points behind and now five ahead of Culatrense. Imortal are 10th, Paderne 7th and Guia 13th.

Imortal Albufeira         POST     Almancilense
Guia             3-1     Silves
Farense B         1-1     Esp. Lagos

Moncarapachense stay on top, three points ahead of Almancilense who have that game in hand. Lagoa are third, Culatrense fourth. They are the four teams with a realistic chance of the title and promotion.

I was told that the postponed match for Imortal will be played this coming Thursday, 12th March. This has not yet appeared in the official fixture list. I can check when I am there this afternoon for the Portugal v Denmark women's match.

A vital win for Olhanense which propels them two points clear of the relegation zone. But it's still going to be a hard fight. With twelve games remaining only six points separate the six teams who are fighting to avoid two relegation places. Tondela, bottom, are dead and buried in the third.

Segunda Liga results from Wednesday afternoon

Olhanense 1 - 1 Guimarães B attendance 314
Benfica B 4 - 1 Portimonense attendance 350

Farense did not have a game.

Olhanese grabbed another lifeline in their struggle to avoid relegation and are now three points clear of the drop zone. However, three of the four teams below them engaged in that struggle have a game in hand. They will be playing catch up over the 'international weekend' of 28th and 29th March, untroubled as they will be by call ups to national squads.

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES

Segunda Liga

Farense 2 - 1 Freamunde  att 748
Portimonense 1 - 1 Olhanense att 630

A good win for Farense against one of the teams challenging for promotion, but they remain in 17th place. Olhanense are still three points clear of the relegation zone with eight games remaining, but four of the five teams below them have a game in hand. Portimonense are 12th. Poor home form has cost them any chance of promotion, it's five  successive matches now at home without a win.

Next weekend's fixture list is shorter than normal because of the international matches. The only Algarve team involved will be Farense, who will travel to the far north-east to meet top dogs Chaves.

Advance warning for anyone who might be over at Easter and wanting to see a game - most if not all matches will be on SATURDAY rather than Sunday owing to the Easter Sunday religious holiday. Olhanense are the only Algarve team with a home game, date and time to be confirmed here next week. The third tier (below) do not schedule matches for the Easter weekend.

Campeonato Nacional Seniores Promotion Group South

Benfica C.Branco     1-0     Louletano
Mafra     1-0     Operário Lagoa
Casa Pia     2-0     1º Dezembro
Caldas     1-1     AD Nogueirense

Another defeat for Louletano pretty well puts an end to any hope they may have wished for promotion. They are bottom of the eight team group with four points from six matches.

Next Sunday they will be at home to top side Mafra, ko 1500hrs.

Campeonato Nacional Seniores Relegation Group H

Aljustrelense     1-3     Moura
Quarteirense     0-1     Lusitano VRSA
Ferreiras     1-2     Angrense
SC Praiense     1-1     At. Reguengos

A good win for Lusitano leaves them seven points clear of the relegation places, but Ferreiras and Quarteirense have a fight on their hands to avoid demotion to the Algarve League.

Ferreiras will travel to Lusitano in Vila Real de Santo  António on Thursday night, ko 9pm while Quarteirense will be away to bottom side Reguengos on Saturday and really must win there.

ALGARVE LEAGUE

Guia 2-0 Imortal Albufeira
Monchiquense     0-2     Padernense
Odiáxere     5-0     Carvoeiro United
Moncarapachense     3-2     Quarteira
Armacenenses     1-2     Culatrense
GD Lagoa     0-1     Esp. Lagos
11 Esperanças     2-1     Faro e Benfica
Farense B     0-4     Almancilense
Mexilhoeira Grande FC     0-1     Silves

Once more, no real surprises in the results. Moncarapchense stay three points ahead of Almancilense, who have a game in hand. That is the match at Imortal, which has been scheduled for Easter Saturday 4th April. Lagoa are third, but five points behind.

Paderne are 7th, Imortal stay in 10th place, Guia's win lifts them to 12th.

Next Saturday at 1500hrs / 3pm except at Guia.

Almancilense     v     11 Esperanças
Carvoeiro United     v     Padernense    at Estombar
Quarteira     v     Odiáxere
Culatrense     v     Moncarapachense     at Penha, Faro
Esp. Lagos     v     Armacenenses
Faro e Benfica     v     GD Lagoa at Horta da Areia, Faro
Silves     v     Farense B
Guia     v     Mexilhoeira Grande FC    ko 1600hrs / 4pm
Imortal Albufeira     v     Monchiquense

Last weekend's results next weekend's games

Segunda Liga

Only one game owing to the International  fixtures.

Chaves 1 - 0 Farense in front of 6,800 fans - this division's biggest crowd of the season by far.

A late winner by Chaves keeps them on top and Farense slip to 17th. Olhanense are 19th and only three points out of the relegation zone, while Portimonense are 12th.

Next weekend's games will be on SATURDAY 4th April owing to the Easter Sunday religious holiday.

Olhanense v Benfica B ko 2030hrs / 8pm.

Farense and Portimonense will both be away.

Campeonato Nacional Seniores second phase promotion group south

Louletano 0 - 1 Mafra a result which keeps Louletano bottom of the eight team group and with no chance of a promotion place.

There will be no matches in this league over Easter.

Campeonato Nacional Seniores second phase relegation group H

Lusitano VRSA     1-1     Ferreiras
Moura     2-2     SC Praiense
At. Reguengos     0-0     Quarteirense
Angrense     1-1     Aljustrelense

As you were then, with Ferreiras and Quarteirense 6th and 7th respectively and in danger of returning to the Algarve League. Lusitano VRSA are fourth of the eight teams and seven points clear of the danger zone.

Again, there will be no matches over Easter.

ALGARVE LEAGUE

Almancilense     5-0     11 Esperanças
Carvoeiro United     1-1     Padernense
Quarteira     2-1     Odiáxere
Culatrense     3-1     Moncarapachense
Esp. Lagos     4-0     Armacenenses
Faro e Benfica     1-0     GD Lagoa
Silves     0-2     Farense B
Imortal Albufeira    5-1     Monchiquense
Guia     3-0     Mexilhoeira Grande FC

Big surprise was the defeat for Moncarapachense. After eight successive wins they lost to fourth placed Culatrense and as a result are level on points at the top with Almancilense, who have a game in hand. Lagoa and Culatrense are eight points behind the two leaders, so it is really a two horse race for the title and promotion.

Almancil's game in hand is against Imortal Albufeira, who enjoyed their best result of the season so far against a very poor Monchique outfit. Imortal are 10th, Paderne 7th and Guia 12th.

The only game over Easter is the delayed game between Imortal Albufeira and Almancilense to be played on Saturday 4th April ko 1500hrs / 3pm.

WOMEN'S FOOTBALL

No game for Guia this weekend just gone and none next weekend. They play their final league game of the season away to Castrense on 12th April.

Results Saturday 4 April

Segunda Liga

Desp. Aves 2 - 0 Farense att 672
Braga B 0 - 2 Portimonense att 320
Olhanese 1 - 2 Benfica B att 452

Olhanense are only three points above the relgation zone with nine games remaining.

Portimonense and Farense can coast through the rest of the season safe in mid-table.

Next weekend in the Algarve

SATURDAY 11th

Farense v Atletico ko 1600hrs
Olhanense v Freamunde ko 1600hrs
Portimonende v Aves ko 1600hrs

There were no games in the Campeonato Nacional Seniores owing to the Easter Holidays and only the one game in the Algarve league : Imortal Albufeira 0 - 1 Almancilense and as a result Almancil are now top of the League on goal difference over Moncarapachense.

Also played on Saturday was the 'Algarve Super Cup' (last season's league winners v last season's Algarve Cup winners. Louletano and Lusitano VRSA drewe 1-1, Lusitano won 5-4 on penalties. Nice of them to tell anyone.

Next Weekend's fixtures

Campeonato Nacional Seniores Promotion Group South

Louletano v Casa Pia Sunday 12th at 1600hrs - a meaningless game for Louletano as they will be going nowhere. Casa Pia, on the other hand, are third in this eight team group and still in with a good shout for promotion.

Relegation  Group H

Ferreiras v Aljustrelense Sunday 12th at 1600hrs - Ferreiras really do need to win this one as they are in the relegation mire. Quarteirense, one place below them, will be away as will Lusitano VRSA who look to be fairly safe.

ALGARVE LEAGUE Saturday 11th at 1600hrs except as noted. The normal ko time for Algarve League teams during April is 1600hrs / 4pm

11 Esperanças     v     Silves      ko 1815hrs at Penha, Faro

Armacenenses     v     Faro e Benfica
GD Lagoa     v     Almancilense
Farense B     v     Guia at The Algarve Stadium! (Ridiculous, when the FIRST team is playing at the dilapidated Sao Luis stadium in the city. No wonder the game is such a sorry state here.)

At. Reguengos     2-1     Lusitano VRSA
Moura     2-1     Quarteirense
Angrense     2-2     SC Praiense

Defeats for all three Algarve teams, leaving Ferreiras and Quarteirense still below that dotted line.

There are six games to go in this phase, so they had better start winning soon. All three will be at home next Sunday, ko 4pm /1600hrs

Ferreiras v     At. Reguengos
Lusitano VRSA     v     Moura
Quarteirense     v     Angrense

Segunda Liga results from yesterday afternoon

Aves 0 - 0 Olhanense att 483
Chaves 1 - 2 Portimonense att 3050 (shouldn't they have been at work? No wonder the country's going to the dogs, etc etc.) but their last two Sunday crowds have been just over 6,000 which is huge for this league.
Trofense 0 - 1 Farense att 468

Another lifeline for Olhanense who are now six points clear of the relegation zone. Their next game is against Braga B, the team immediately below them, so a win would be a big bonus.

Portimonense put in big spoke into Chaves' wheel. A very good win against the second placed side who hadn't lost since mid-January. For Portimonense, it's now four games since a defeat and they sit comfortable in 10th spot.

Farense won away for the first time since October and are now 16th.

Algarve Cup Semi - Finals

Quarteirense 2 - 3 Ferreiras
Lagoa 1 - 0 Moncarapachense

The final will be in the Algarve Stadium, date tba, admission free.

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEK'S GAMES
Segunda Liga
Farense 1 - 2 Tondela no details available
Olhanense 0 - 1 Braga B att 357 (yes that's all)
Portimonense 0 - 2 Freamunde ano details available

Not a good day for the Algarve. At least the other results did Olhanense a favour, they remain six points outside the relegation zone with six games left. Farense are 16th and Portimonense 11th.

All three will be away next Sunday, with Portimonese visiting leaders Tondela. Olhanense will play at bottom club Trofense and a win there would greatly help their cause.

CAMPEONATO NACIONAL SENIORES PROMOTION GROUP SOUTH

Caldas da Rainha 1 - 1 Louletanoa matter of little import as Louletano are bottom of the eight team group. With five matches remaining it's just a matter of seeing out the season.

CAMPEONATO NACIONAL SENIORES RELEGATION GROUP H

Ferreiras     1-1     At. Reguengos
Lusitano VRSA     1-0     Moura
Quarteirense     1-2     Angrense
SC Praiense     1-1     Aljustrelense

There are also five games remaining here. Lusitano VRSA are eight points above the dotted line and probably safe, but the other two Algarve sides are in serious trouble.  The botom two go down automatically, the team in 6th has some kind of playoff to endure.

Ferreiras, 6th of 8 teams, have 18 points and Quarteirense are bottom with 14 points.

All three will be away next Sunday. Lusitano have the most difficult trip, 1,000 miles to the Azores to play group leaders Angrense.

ALGARVE LEAGUE

Silves     1-3     GD Lagoa
Quarteira     5-0     Carvoeiro United
Culatrense     3-0     Padernense
Esp. Lagos     0-1     Odiáxere
Faro e Benfica     1-1     Moncarapachense
Almancilense     6-0     Armacenenses
Guia     2-0     11 Esperanças
Imortal DC     0-4     Farense B
Mexilhoeira Grande FC     1-4     Monchiquense

More points dropped by Moncarapachense suggests they might not be too keen on the idea of promotion! Leaders Almancilense are now five points ahead of them with six games remaining. The two top teams meet next Saturday in the crunch game.

Imortal's dire performance pushes them down to 10th, Guia are 11th and Paderne 7th.

NEXT SATURDAY AT 4PM UNLESS STATED

Armacenenses     v     Silves
Monchiquense     v     Quarteira
Carvoeiro United     v     Culatrense   at Estombar
Padernense     v     Esp. Lagos
Odiáxere     v     Faro e Benfica
GD Lagoa     v     Guia
Farense B     v     Mexilhoeira Grande FC    at the Algarve Stadium
Moncarapachense     v     Almancilense    ko 6pm / 1800hrs at Olhão Municipal Stadium

Last weekend's results next week's games

Segunda Liga

Tondela 4 - 2 Portimonense att 1786 The home side's biggest crowd of the season saw them go six points clear at the top of the Segunda Liga table, with five games remaining. Portimonense were 2-1 ahead after just fifteen minutes, 2-2 at half time but crumbled under pressure later in the game.

Maritimo B 0 - 1 Farense att 271  - Farense are 16th

Trofense 0 - 1 Olhanense att a mere 212. A good win for Olhanense at bottom side Trofense. Olhanese are six points clear of the relgation zone. There is still work to do.

NEXT WEEK

Most games are being played on SATURDAY however -

Friday 1st May (public holiday) Portimonense v Trofense ko 1600hrs

Saturday 2nd May

Farense v Viseu ko 1500hrs - meaningless mid table match.
Olhanense v Chaves (Chaves are second and desperate for the points as well) ko 1600hrs

Midweek 6th May

All three Algarve teams will be away.

Campeonato Nacional Seniores Promotion Group South

Louletano     0-5     AD Nogueirense means nothing now anyway.

Louletano will be away next week. I am sure they will be glad when this tedious season is over!

Campeonato Nacional Seniores Relegation Group H

Angrense     1-1     Lusitano VRSA
Moura     1-1     At. Reguengos
Aljustrelense     2-1     Quarteirense
SC Praiense     2-2     Ferreiras

A good result for Lusitano at the leaders, but they are five points off the pace with four games remaining. Ferreiras are still in danger and Quarteirense, bottom of the group, need to win all four games and hope that someone else loses them all, so gone I think into the Algarve League.

Next Sunday in the Algarve ko 1600hrs ( 4pm

Ferreiras v     Moura (Moura are second)
Lusitano VRSA     v     Aljustrelense

Quarteira's game has been postponed until Tuesday 26th May.

ALGARVE LEAGUE

Odiáxere     0-1     Faro e Benfica

Farense B     2-2     Mexilhoeira Grande FC

WOMEN'S FOOTBALL

Season over. Guia, in the second national tier, finished fifth of eleven teams (a twelfth was thrown out) a creditable showing in their first ever season. As the only active women's 11 a side team in the whole of the Algarve they are to be commended.

On Friday afternoon I joined the other 434 paying customers to watch Second League Portimonense slide to defeat at home to bottom club Trofense. There were about 100 more people there, as one of Portimonense junior teams were getting a presentation for winning their league, so they and all the mums and dads filled a few more seats.

It was all going well for them, leading 2-0, until Trofense pulled one back just before half time.

In the second half they were woeful in the extreme and many of the crowd had already gone home to kick the dog when Trofense equalised with ten minutes left and then took the lead three minutes later, both very well taken goals. Portimonense did hit the post in stoppage time but it was I think their only worthwhile effort on goal.

Two things summed up for me the dire state of football here in Portugal.

First, the complete indifference of the match officials towards petty gamesmanship, some would call it cheating. Incident - ball is crossed in by Trofense and in the challenge to clear it, a Portimonense defender goes down 'injured', on the goal-line just outside the goal itself. Ball is cleared but immediately whipped back in, forward challenges ´keeper on the six yard line and is flagged offside, totally wrong as the floored defender was playing everyone onside. Cue mass protests, which are waved away. The goalkeeper then throws the ball forward, as is usual here, and takes the resulting free kick from ten yards or so outside the penalty area. Cue even more protests, simply shrugged away by the ref.

Also, the two Portimonense goals were greeted with hysterical announcements and music at full blast, the Trofense goals were followed with total silence. That, to me, is disrepectful of the opponents.

LAST WEEK'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES

Segunda Liga

Wednesday afternoon 6th May

Leixões 1 - 3 Farense att 482
Oliveirense 2 - 4 Portimonense arr 314
Viseu 1 -  0 Olhanense att 445

Sunday 10th May

Farense 3 - 3 Oliveirense att unknown
Olhanense 3 - 1 Tondela att 598
Portimonense 1 - 2 Atletico att unknown

The upshot of those results is that, with two games remaining Olhanense, are now 18th of 24 teams and safe from relegation. Portimonense and Farense are 12th and 13th respectively.

At the other end of table, Tondela are still in the lead despite that defeat but are now only three points ahead of Chaves, who they meet next week in the proverbial six pointer.

There are several other teams in with a mathematical chance of a top two finish and promotion to the big boys league - see http://www.zerozero.pt/edicao.php?id_edicao=70078" rel="nofollow - http://www.zerozero.pt/edicao.php?id_edicao=70078

Next weekend

All three Algarve teams will be away.

Campeonato Nacional Seniores Second Phase Promotion Group South

Louletano     2-1     Operário Lagoa    A good win over the team who were leading
Mafra     2-0     1º Dezembro
Casa Pia     2-0     AD Nogueirense
Caldas     0-1     Benfica C.Branco

Mafra take over at the top, Louletano are still bottom. Two games left.

Next Sunday at 5pm

Louletano     v     Benfica C.Branco

Campeonato Nacional Seniores Second Phase relegation group H

Angrense     2-1     Moura
Aljustrelense     0-2     At. Reguengos
SC Praiense     3-0     Lusitano VRSA
Quarteirense     5-1     Ferreiras

Two games left. Ferreiras are now bottom with 19 points, Quateirense next to bottom with 20 points. Ferreiras need to win both their games and hope other results go their way or they will be relegated to the Algarve League. Quarteirense are only marginally better off. The two clubs above them both have 23 points then there is a long gap to 30 points where Lustitano VRSA sit, quite safe.

Next Sunday at 1700hrs / 5pm

Angrense v Ferreiras which could spell doom for the visitors as they must make the 1,000 mile trip to the Azores to play the leaders.

Lusitano VRSA v Quarteirense and a win here for Quarteirense could set up a decisive final game at home to fellow strugglers Reguengos.

ALGARVE LEAGUE

GD Lagoa     11-0     Mexilhoeira Grande FC
Quarteira     1-1     Esp. Lagos
Monchiquense     0-3     Culatrense
Armacenenses     2-0     Imortal Albufeira match abandoned
Carvoeiro United     0-1     Faro e Benfica
Padernense     1-4     Almancilense
Odiáxere     4-0     Silves
Moncarapachense     2-1     Guia
11 Esperanças     1-1     Farense B

Wins for the top two mean that with three games remaining Almancil are still three points ahead of Moncarapachense at the top of the table.

Paderne are 8th, Imortal 11th (depending on the steward's enquiry into the abandonment) and Guia 12th.

Next Sunday at 1700hrs / 5pm

Esp. Lagos     v     Culatrense
11 Esperanças     v     Monchiquense    at Penha

Silves     v     Padernense
Guia     v     Odiáxere
Imortal Albufeira    v     Moncarapachense

Last weekend's results next weekend's games

Segunda Liga

Covilhã 1 - 0 Farense att 1048
Oliveirense 1 - 3 Olhanense att 216
Viseu 1 - 0 Portimonense 0 att 454

The late run of good form for Olhanense means that they are now safe from relegation, in 17th place with one game remaining. Portimonense and Farense are 13th and 14th respectively.

The top of the league however is very tight, with Tondela on 80 points, the next three teams on 77 points and the fifth on 75 points. The next two are Sporting B (75) and Benfica B (74), but they cannot be promoted.

Next Sunday all games kick off at 4pm /1600hrs

In the Algarve

Olhanense v Atlético (who are already down)
Portimonense v Leixões
Farense v Feirense (who are 5th and with a chance of a promotion spot.)

Other key games

Freamunde v Tondela (1st)
Santa Clara v Covilhã (2nd)
Oriental v Un. Madeira (3rd)
Chaves (4th) v Olivereirense

Campeonato Nacional Seniores Second Phase Promotion Group south

Louletano     0-1     Benfica C.Branco

means nothing to Louletano. Final games next week when Louletano face a nice trip to leaders Mafra. This little league is also tight, with only 1 point separating the top three.

Campeonato Nacional Seniores Second Phase
Relegation group H

Angrense     2-1     Ferreiras
Moura     4-0     Aljustrelense
At. Reguengos     3-1     SC Praiense
Lusitano VRSA     2-2     Quarteirense

Ferreiras are relegated to the Algarve League.

Quarteirense will only survive if they win next week and Aljustrelense lose or draw at home to leaders Angrense. Lusitano are 3rd and safe.

Next Sunday at 5pm / 1700hrs

Quarteirense     v     At. Reguengos
Ferreiras v     Lusitano VRSA

ALGARVE LEAGUE

Esp. Lagos     1-1     Culatrense
11 Esperanças     5-1     Monchiquense
Faro e Benfica     4-1     Quarteira
Almancilense     4-0     Carvoeiro United
Silves     2-1     Padernense
Guia     3-5     Odiáxere
Imortal DC     1-3     Moncarapachense
Mexilhoeira Grande FC     1-1     Armacenenses
Farense B     3-2     GD Lagoa

Two games to go and at the top Almancilense still lead Moncarapchense by two points. Paderne slip to 9th, Imortal are 11th and Guia 12th.

Moncarapachense look to have the chance to go top next week as they will be at home to the hapless Mexilhoeira lot, rock bottom of the league, while Almancil face a tougher task at Quarteira.

Next Saturday at 1700hrs / 5pm confirmed

GD Lagoa     v     11 Esperanças
Carvoeiro United     v     Silves    at Estombar
Imortal Albufeira v Odiáxere

Quarteira     v     Almancilense
Padernense     v     Guia
Moncarapachense     v     Mexilhoeira Grande FC at Olhão Municipal stadium

END OF SEASON ROUND UP

Final results

Segunda Liga

Portimonense 1 - 1 Leixoes att 345
Farense 4 - 1 Feirense att 750
Olhanense 1 - 1 Atlético att unknown.

Farense finished 11th, Portimonense finished 14th and Olhanense 16th in this 24 team league.

Tondela got the point they needed to win the division. The next three were level on points, with União Madeira sneaking second place.

All three won on the last day so it was that close. A monster crowd (for this league) of nearly 8,000 at Chaves went home to kick the dog as they ended up third and not promoted.

Gil Vicente (from Barcelos) and Penafiel were relegated from the big league.

Campeonato Nacional Seniores Promotion Group South (3rd tier of national football)

Louletano lost their last game at winners Mafra and will be playing at this level again next season.

Campeonato Nacional Seniores Relegation Group H

Gloom for the Algarve as two of the three teams were relegated to the Algarve league, namely Ferreiras and Quarteirense. Although I suppose it does mean some more local derbies for Imortal next time around!

Lusitano from Vila Real had better luck and retained their third tier spot.

Algarve League final round of matches

Faro Benfica     2     Esp. Lagos     1
Almancilense    2     Culatrense     0
Silves         4     Quarteira     2
Guia         0     Carvoeiro     1
Imortal Albufeira    0     Paderne     2
Mex. Grande     1     Odiáxere     1
Farense B     1     Moncarapachense     2
Esperanças     7     Armacenense     2
Monchique     0     Lagôa     4

Final table

Almancilense are promoted to Campeonato Nacional Seniores. Moncarapachense's reward for second place is being allowed to enter the National FA Cup next season.

There's no telling how many teams will drop out or re-appear to form this league for next season.

ALGARVE CUP FINAL

Ferreiras 0-0  Lagoa after extra time. Lagoa won 4-2 on penalties.

Lagoa are also allowed to enter the national FA Cup by virtue of that win.

Age group teams

National U17

Complex setup but Imortal finished fourth and avoided relegation from the southern area section.

Algarve U-19

Imortal finished second, Ferreiras 5th. Quarteirense were the winners.

Algarve U-17 1st Division

Imortal finished 6th of 12, Ferreiras 11th.

Guia finished 5th in the second division.

Algarve U-15

Ferreiras finished 10th and Imortal finished 11th of 12 in the 1st Divisio, Guia finished third in the second division.

Women's Football

The Algarve's only team, that of Guia, finished a respectable 5th of 11 teams in their second tier group of the national league.
