If this is implemented will it just apply, as the name implies, to those arriving by air? Or will it cover trains, road, boat and any other means?

I think that would probably defeat the object mate. I think that the idea is that the only people who are allowed to travel the route are residents of the two countries involved. Trains, boats and road involves crossing through other countries where interaction with other nationalities is inevitable.

I could be wrong, but that's my take on it.

And mine, but I see that fraught with more logistical issues. It basically, if it covered the later, would make it a free for all in which case it wouldn’t be individual countries trying to negotiate an air bridge arrangement.
I guess my first shout of the name implying air only is likely the case.

The road border into Spain and into France is due to be removed 1st July so it will be possible to drive from here to UK so the only benefit of air bridge would be the saving of 14 day isolation in UK.
However they do it there is still more likely that the virus will come in from UK rather than the other way
I know the Algarve needs tourists so if they do arrange the airbridge I hope they put proper checks in at airports

The first airbridge was to Berlin in 1948.  We knew it as the Berlin Airlift but to those in Berlin it was the "Luftbrücke".

Irrelevant but interesting.
It is no coincidence that in no known language does the phrase 'As pretty as an Airport' appear. Douglas Adams

UK is I have read due to review the situation on June 29th.

Since UK government advice is currently to avoid all but essential travel even within the country, it would be surprise to me if suddenly it was OK to go on holiday.

Yes. At the moment the border between Spain and Portugal is closed to all traffic in both directions except for 'essential' journeys and freight. The actual degree of relaxation may not be to what it was before, but the EU has decreed that internal borders should be open from that day.
