Where did you hear this? Nothing I can see as being reported locally.

However Albufeira council has already announced closures of schools, museums and other public spaces, all local sport is suspended and early this morning the national government announced a further series of precautionary measures including a ban on cruise ships landing passengers.

it was on a Facebook post.  I know not to believe everything on Facebook and thought I would get a better picture of things on here.  Thank you.

bars and restaurants must reduce capacity by one third. supermarkets and mall will limit number of clients. queuing will be done outside the buildings. schools closed and payment in part by gov for one parent to stay at home for kids 12 and under (can we now leave our 13 year old alone and go on a jolly? weird ruling)

It looks like the information is correct.
https://www.sulinformacao.pt/2020/03/canadiano-que-passava-ferias-em-albufeira-e-o-primeiro-turista-com-covid-19-em-portugal/

Short translation:
A Canadian in his 60s who has been on holiday in Albufeira for about a month is the first confirmed case of an infected tourist in Portugal.

The news is being advanced by SIC, which says that the man is now "ventilated and with a prognosis reserved in intensive care".

Worrying times indeed, obviously this poor person has picked the virus up in resort, how many more will there be soon. I am due to fly out in nine days and am not sure what to do. I have just contacted my tour operator (Jet2) waited 30 mins on hold. They said they would be willing to change my dates any time up to the end of April 2021. However I would have to pay £150 pp admin fee. Absolutely disgraceful, I expected to pay something for the change but £300 is extortionate.

Information on the link above that the Canadian went to Morocco and got sick three days later .. however, Muthu Forte do Vale should be in lockdown .. but where will we ever get news of what is happening locally ... bars and restaurants are the `lifeblood` of Albufeira and it will be pretty hard to trust any of them if other cases appear ..

We are due to fly out in 10 days time and again in June and September.

Not sure what to do and monitoring the advice constantly but holiday insurance will only pay out if the FCO advice is not to travel to Portugal (or if the Portuguese authorities ban inbound flights). Worrying times indeed.

Due to fly over on 19th March, made up our minds last week not to travel. It was the thought of Dublin airport and the flight over really that had me anxious and that was before we had school closures etc here. I'm happy enough with the measures here in Ireland they seem to be very sensible, and things seem to be similar in Portugal.  Things should settle down before July/August but I'll stay put until all is clear. Health services will be under severe pressure with their own nationals, no need to add more pressure with ill tourists. Definitely financial losses with be hard, in all industry, but particularly tourism, I do feel though that health is more important.

Sorry to hear it has arrived in Albufeira but I expect it was inevitable.  I was due to travel over on 30 March but rearranged the booking for 25 October a couple of days ago. My age and health put me squarely in the sites of covid-19. Jet2 charged me £75 but I expected that. It's in the T&Cs.
Got an email from Easyjet yesterday (with whom I have no bookings) to say they are waiving the charge for changing a flight online. Perhaps others will follow.
It is no coincidence that in no known language does the phrase 'As pretty as an Airport' appear. Douglas Adams

The flight will be a worry ... are airlines properly cleaning planes ... are they testing people with the pointy thermometer (as the Americans are doing) .. I would be in Algarve for 2 months .. then a much bigger danger on the flight home ... and very much not sure about July. The first confirmed case in China was Nov 17 last year ... 4 months ago ... and it will still be a while until
it clears up ... so we may be talking autumn for europe ...

Yellow daffy Forte do Vale is part of a large group called MGM they have have four at least other hotels in the vicinity. Maybe call and voice your concern adding you have underlying health conditions and could you be moved. Or as soon as you arrive ask at reception. I know for a fact two of the hotels are not full and very unlikely that will change in present climate...Good luck.

Ryanair's flight turnaround is 45 minutes. That is not enough time to deep clean a fridge never mind an aeroplane.

As far as Easyjet is concerned, their website states:-

"The cabin, toilets, seats and tray tables are thoroughly cleaned each night by professional cleaning teams at all of our airports. Additionally, every aircraft goes through a regular deep clean by a team of specialist cleaners. Finally, soap and hand sanitizer are made available onboard for all customers and crew to use."
