Hi all

I plan to visit Albufeira soon. Am I right to hear betting is illegal here?

Thanks for any information

Cheers

If you cannot bear to spend 10 days without giving money away to "Honest John" , then you should be able to bet on line if you are set up to do so - the law was relaxed a bit last year. But there are no bookies. However I understand some sites are still blocked, but which I have no idea. Probably better going on a betting forum and asking, there's bound to be someone who has been here and tried it?

If you have a UK Bookmakers online account you will be blocked when you try and sign in.
However, if you have an Android tablet use TouchVPN (free and available in Google Play Store). This hides which Country you are in.
Simple to use, just install it, open it,  select United Kingdom from the list of Countries and then tap Connect.
Then use the Racing Post App to select your horses and then place your bets with your bookmaker via that Racing Post app - you are then transferred directly to your Bookmakers account.
Sign in as usual and you're done.
It works like a dream, or so I've been told Wink.
I hate how peopleï compare Frank Zappa to God. I mean, he's cool and great and nice and everything, but he's no Zappa.

Yes, plenty. Do you have any particular ones in mind?

Regards racing, if you install an app called Mobdro on your tablet then they live stream both Racing UK and At The Races

Betfair is fine mate. All betting sites are as long as you have something that hides your IP as Dicey says.
I use tunnelbear but that ones not free so not really what you are looking for. Just make sure when you log into your preferred site that your IP address blocker is on otherwise you will have to shut down and start again......Bit of a pain shall we say when you have missed a 14/1 winner backing last minute.

I like a bet and probably have 4 or 5 a week.
Unless i actually go racing, which i do quite frequently, i don't bet much, usually maximum of £2, or a tenner a week.
I opened a Ladbrokes account in Nov 2012 and deposited a modest £10.
So far i've not made any further deposits but i've withdrawn £250 and i've still got £47 in my account.
I don't have any other accounts andi haven't been in a bookmakers since 2011.

Its only a mugs game if you are a mug to start with
Plenty of people who know what they are doing make money from it
And what I said about  my account is 100% true

I know - they are called Bookies...

If you are so good at it - why haven't you taken £250'000 out of your account? Wink
