Farense 0- 1 FC Porto att. 15,302. The game was switched to the Algarve Stadium, where the attendance was more than double this season's average at the São Luis. The defeat leaves Farense in big trouble at the foot of the table. They are 17th of 18 teams and five points below the dotted line. Their next game will on Sunday 23rd, away up at mid-table Arouca.

Liga Meu Super

Portimonense 1 - 2 Torreense att 908. Portimonense remain in 12th place but they are only five points clear of the relegation zone. Their next game will be on Friday night away up at Penafiel, currently third in the league.

Lagoa B v ACD Algarvense did not happen.

That was the final round of matches, leaving Guia clear leaders. But the expected demise of ACD Algarvense and award of points will result in an adjustment for second and third places between Lagoa and Os Armacancenses.

No games next weekend ahead of the second phase.

The final table sees Messinense top, by virtue of their head to head record over Quarteira SC who finish second. One point behind those two are Louletano B.

For the second phase,  the top three in each group play a series to determine the championship and promotion. Those lower down form two other groups to play fairly meaningless matches to pad out the season.


National League Second Division Second Phase relegation group

There were no games last weekend because of the FA Cup and none are scheduled for next weekend.

There were also no games last weekend. Next Sunday leaders Ferreiras will play second place Lusitano Évora ko 1500hrs. With three games remaining, Ferreiras are three points ahead of their visitors, so an important three points at stake.

I spotted in the weekly disciplinary report from the Algarve FA that Alvor had FIVE players sent off in the final minute of their game at Os Armancanenses on 25th January, following what was obviously a controversial late winner for the hosts by former Imortal B player William Junior. The game was abandoned with the 2-1 score standing, as Alvor had fewer than seven players. Alvor were fined €100 in addition to the assorted suspensions previously meted out.

ACD Algarvense have clocked up well over €1000 in fines. I wonder if anyone is actually paying them?

Farense 0 - 1 AFS att. 5967. Disaster for Farense in front of an almost full house.  Farense had sixteen attempts at goal against five for AFS. The winner for the visitors came six minutes into added time, which leaves Farense in 17th place of 18 teams and six points below the team above. They are in serious danger of relegation. Their next game will be a trip to Estoril (currently 8th) next Saturday night.

Liga Meu Super

Portimonense 2 - 1 Leixões att 735. Sunday morning football remains as popular as ever!Portimonense were behind until the 87th minute in a game in which 41 free kicks for 'fouls' were recorded. Their winner came in the third minute of added time at the end. They are in 11th place, eight points above the relegation zone. That was a much needed win after three consecutive defeats.  Their next game is on Sunday night away at Benfica B, currently 4th.

Louletano now stand 3rd, level on points with Moncarapachense and five points now behind new leaders Lusitano Évora. Lagoa are 7th. Five games remain in this first phase.

Next weekend

Lagoa v Estrela Amadora B on SATURDAY at 1600HRS.

Louletano travel up to Moura, Moncarapachense visit the leaders.

One game remains of the first phase. Imortal are top with 48 points, Ferreiras second on 45 and Portimonense B third on 43.

Other than who will finish top, the only other issue to be decided is the sixth place in the top group for the second phase. Lagos and FC 11 Esperanças both have 34 points, Lagos the better goal difference. But in terms of the head to head results, both games between the two were won by the 11 Esperanças.

Tirsense 4 - 3 Guia unlucky for Guia at leaders Tirsense, who are now three points ahead of them with five games remaining. Guia don't play next week then on 15th March go up to Porto to play Boavista.

Olhanense 2 - 1 Barreirense

Olhanense recorded their first win of this phase but are still bottom of the five team group. Ferreiras had no game but remain six points clear at the top of the table and with a 100% record.

Next Sunday Ferreiras travel to third placed Barreirense. Olhanense do not have a game.

Farense 0 - 1 Braga att. 6064, almost a full house. To their credit, fans are still turning up in numbers but with them now six points below the dreaded dotted line, relegation is becoming a very real threat.

There are no games next weekend because of internationals and Farense also have the following weekend off as they were due to play at Benfica whose fixtures were changed. That will now be Farense's next game, a nice trip to Benfica, on April 2nd.

Liga Meu Super

Portimonense 0 - 1 Feirense att 789. All is not well at Portimonense, although as they currently occupy 12th place they are not in immediate danger of relegation. But with only one win in the last six games, they could do with some points. They also do not play next weekend. They next play on March 29th away at Vizela, who are in fifth place and on a  good run of results.

Three games remain in this first phase. Louletano are third, with 47 points from 23 games. Amora FC are second with 48 points, Lusitano Évora top the table with 52 points. Moncarapachense are fifth, Lagoa 7th. Only the top two teams proceed to the second phase for possible promotion and the championship.

There will be no games next weekend. League resumes on Sunday 30th March. Louletano will be travelling to Lusitano Évora on that day.

The league's second phase gets under way on 22nd March. There are now two groups. The top six from phase one play a round of matches for the championship and promotion. The bottom six play to avoid relegation.

Ferreiras  5 - 1 Olhanense

Ferreiras have now finished their phase two programme with a 100% record of eight wins and will finish top, come what may elsewhere. The final matches in this five team group are scheduled for March 29th. After which, there will be a further phase involving top teams from other groups. Olhanense are bottom of this five team group with three points and have one game remaining.

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEK'S GAMES

Liga Betclic

There was no game for Farense last weekend. Favourable treatment for Benfica allowed them to defer a game away to Gil Vicente, which in turn has pushed back the Benfica v Farense match to Wednesday night.

Next Monday, Farense will be at home to Casa Pia, ko 1845hrs. Farense remain 17th of 18th teams and six points separate them from safety. Casa Pia are currently 7th in the league. With no chance of points on Wednesday, Farense will be desperate for a win a week from tonight.

Liga Meu Super

Vizela 3 - 2 Portimonense att. 2241 a last minute winner for the home team. Portimonense drop to 14th place as a result., They are five points above the relegation places, but will need to start winning again and very soon.

Next Sunday at 1530hrs : Portimonense v Oliveirense. The visitors are in 17th place, they will want the points but so do Portimonense.

Two games remain in this first phase.  Defeat for Louletano drops them to fourth place and now with only a remote chance of finishing in the top two and going through to the second phase.

Moncarpachense are fifth, Lagoa 7th. Neither will advance, but also neither are in danger of relegation, so they must find something else to do once phase 1 is over.

Both Operário and Moura are in the relegation zone, which makes the two games important to them. Estrela Vendas Novas are already down.

With points carried over from phase 1, Imortal lead with 54 points, Ferreiras have 51 and Portimonense 50. Only these three have a realistic chance of the top spot, the championship and promotion.

Guia had no game last weekend nor do they play next weekend.
They sit in second place, one points behind leaders Tirsense with three matches remaining.

Ferreiras won the five team group with a 100% record of eight wins, Olhanense finished fourth thanks to the win on Sunday. I don't know what happens next!
