Liga Sabseg

Yesterday the top two met and the result was favourable to Farense who play this afternoon. Estrela Amadora (2nd) hosted Moreirense (1st) and lost 2 -4.  All seems to have going well for Estrela until the 70th minute. They were 2-1 down but then had two players sent off within a minute. Even with only nine men, they pulled it back to 2-2 but numbers told, with the winning goals from Moreirense coming in 90 and 90+5 minutes.

If Farense beat Porto B this afternoon, they will go above Estrela Amadora into second place and possible automatic promotion. Their three games after today are all against teams in the bottom half of the table.

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES

Liga Bwin

Casa Pia 1 - 1 Portimonense att 556

Portimonense are now completely certain of being in the top division next season. Casa Pia, comfortably mid-table, had a player sent off after just 17 minutes and took the lead on 65 minutes. It took until the 5th minute of time added at the end for Portimonense to equalise. And it's probably a record in that they finished the game without a single yellow card against them!

Next game for Portimonense is the little matter of entertaining champions-elect Benfica at the Portimão stadium next Saturday at 1800hrs.

Liga Sabseg

As reported above, Farense are now back into second place after their win and the defeat for Estrela Amadora. Their next game is a trip to Madeira to play Nacional, currently 15th of 18 teams. A win is vital. Estrela Amadora go to Trofense, who are 17th.

Liga 3 Second Phase relegation group

Académica Coimbra 0 -1 Moncarapachense

Final game, too late to save Moncarapachense from relegation.

ALGARVE LEAGUE DIVISION ONE SECOND PHASE

Promotion Group

Os 11 Esperanças 0 - 3 Quarteirense
Silves 1 - 0 Odiáxere
Culatrense 3 -2 Louletano

With points carried forward from the first phase. Louletano are already guaranteed to finish top, with three games to go. Quarteirense are second, 14 points behind with Silves in third spot a further 9 points behind.

For reasons best known to itself, the league has scheduled no fixtures for next weekend. They resume on Saturday 20th.

Relegation Group

Lagoa 1 - 1 Lusitano VRSA
Internacional Almancil 2 - 4 Guia
Quarteira SC 3 -1 Almancil

The bottom two places are occupied by the two teams from Almancil. Guia are seven points ahead of them with three to play. Again, no matches next weekend.

ALGARVE LEAGUE SECOND DIVISION SECOND PHASE

Gold (Promotion) Group

Portimonense B 1 - 1 Campinense
Sport Faro Benfica 2 - 3 Paderne
Carvoeiro United 0 - 0 Os Armacanenses

Paderne are top, with a 100% record in the seven games played so far. They need two points from the remaining three games to be certain of finishing top and promotion to the First Division. Carvoeiro United are second, Portimonense B third.

Mext Saturday at 1800hrs / 6pm

Os Armacanenses v Paderne
Campinense v Carvoeiro United
Portimonense B v Sport Faro Benfica

Silver group

Quarteirense 1937 4 - 1 AEF João Moutinho
Alvor 2 - 3 Farense B

Next Saturday at 1800hrs

Sambrasense v Farense B
AEF João Moutinho v Lagos B at Estombar
Quarteirense 1937 v Alvor

Bronze Group

4 ao Cubo 1 - 4 Bensafrim
Messinense 1 - 2 Marítimo Olhanense

Bensafrim at top with 15 points from six games, Marítimo Olhanense second with 12 from five games.

Next Saturday at 1800hrs

Bensafrim v Sport Algoz Benfica
Marítimo Olhanense v 4 ao Cubo

ALGARVE CUP FINAL
WEDNESDAY 31st MAY KO 2100hrs / 9pm

Louletano v Paderne

to be played at the Bela Vista Stadium in Parchal. Admission free.

WOMEN'S FOOTBALL NATIONAL LEAGUE DIVISION TWO SECOND PHASE RELEGATION GROUP

Guia 4 - 0 Sintrense

Guia will finish second or third and therefore safe for another season in the second division.

Their final game will be away to Cadima on 20th May. The two are tied on 13 points, so that result will determine final placings.

Really pleased that Portimonense have stayed up again. Following an excellent start to the season, they fell away and staggered over the relegation line. Would love to go on Saturday but the organisational skills will be lacking and I will be left disappointed. Not sure what to think about the future. The club feels soulless at the moment. Compare them with Faro. Stadium full, crowd singing , a real sense of togetherness. Portimonense - sparse crowd, no singing, no passion. I've seen a morgue with more life in it. Really hope that Faro can get promoted, would like to see a Algarve derby.

Gooseman, if you have access to BT Sport tv the Portimonense/Benfica game is being shown live at 6pm.

Probably not for the faint-hearted Portimonense fan I suspect! Thumbs Down

Many thanks. Game was sold out by Tuesday, with very few going on sale to the general public. It will be absolute bedlam around the ground. Can't see nothing but a win for Benfica as the league title is at stake. Mind you with Portimonense now safe from relegation may play with freedom. Maybe another Chaves could be on the cards. Here's hoping.

Last night

Portimonense 1 - 5 Benfica att 4404 (90% full) fairly predictable. Benfica are seven points ahead of FC Porto who have a game in hand, playing later today. All over bar the shouting and it will be over if FC Porto fail to beat Casa Pia tonight.

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES

Liga BWin

Portimonense 1 - 5 Benfica att 4406. Portimonense are safe from any lingering worrries about relegation, only because the teams below them are even worse then they have recently been.

Next weekend Portimonense travel to play bottom of the league Santa Clara, whose own relegation will be confirmed if they fail to win

Liga Sabseg

Nacional 0 - 1 Farense att 3644. A very useful win for Farense, whose promotion rivals Estrela Amadora could only draw. Farense are now three points ahead of them, with two games remaining.

Next weekend Farense travel to play Benfica B, a game that should attract more than the average 522 who go to their games.

Liga 3 and Campeonato de Portugal

All over so far as Algarve teams are concerned.

Algarve League Division One second phase promotion group

Louletano 3 - 1 Odiáxere
Os 11 Esperanças 1 - 3 Silves
Culatrense v Quarteirense to be played on 3rd June!

(The two games played were brought forward from a later date, changed at very short notice it seems!)

Louetano are 17 points ahead at the top and assured of promotion to the Campeonato with two games remaining.

Relegation group

No games were played.

Next Saturday at 1600hrs

Guia v Lusitano VRSA
Almancil v Internacional Almancil
Quarteira SC v Lagoa

Three games remain, Almancil are seven points adrift at the bottom behind Internacional Almancil, who themselves are seven points behind Guia, the team above.

Algarve League Second Division Second Phase Promotion (Gold) Group

Os Armancanenses 0 - 4 Paderne
Campinense 4 - 1 Carvoeiro United
Portimonense B 4 - 0 Sport Faro Benfica

Paderne will be promoted, Portimonense B are favourites to join them but mathematically any of the five teams below Paderne can reach a promotion spot.

Next Saturday at 1800hrs

Os Armancanenses v Sport Faro Benfica
Paderne v Campinense
Carvoeiro United v Portimonense B

Silver Group

AEF João Moutinho 6 - 2 Lagos B
Quarteirense 5 - 1 Alvor
Sambrasense 1 - 3 Farense B

For what little it matters, Quarteirense 1937 head the table on 18 points, close behind them on 16 are Farense B and AEF João Moutinho. Two games remaining.

Next Saturday at 1800hrs

Alvor v Sambrasense
Farense B v AEF Joãp Moutinho
Lagos B v Quarteirense 1937

Bronze group

Marítimo Olhanense 1 - 1 4 ao Cubo
Bensafrim 6 - 1 Sport Algoz Benfica

Bensafrim lead the group with 18 points from seven games.

Next Saturday at 1800hrs

Sport Algoz Benfica v Maritímo Olhanense
Messinense v 4 ao Cubo

WOMEN'S FOOTBALL NATIONAL SECOND DIVISION second phase

No games last weekend.

Final games next Saturday. Guia, who are safe from relegation, travel to Cadima.

ClapClap
Benfica B 0-1  Farense.
95th minute winner.
One point now needed for promotion, next Sunday afternoon at home to mid-table Tondela.
Expecting a full house, car parking will be hard to find/impossible methinks.
Wish I could be over there.

Tickets for the game last night were €5. The 'Ficha de Jogo' is not yet complete, so attendance not known. I should well imagine the São Luis ground will be full next week. No information on the Farense website about tickets etc.

There is to all intents and purposes no parking at the ground anyway. At least a lot of fans will be able to walk there!

The game v Tondela is at 15.30hrs next Sunday, as are all the games on the final day of the season.

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES

Liga Bwin

Santa Clara 1 - 0 Portimonense att. 665. A nothing game, with Santa Clara already relegated and Portimonense safe. The final match of the season next Sunday sees Portimonense at home to Arouca ko 1530hrs

Liga Sabseg

Farense are now certain of promotion to the Liga Bwin. Their only rivals for second place, Estrela Amadora, lost one-nil at home to Nacional of Madeira, who needed the win to stay clear of the automatic relegation zone. Farense won 1-0 on Friday evening away to Benfica B. Crowd was 990, so a fair few Farense must have made the trip!

Their final game, certain to be a sellout, will be at home to Tondela on Sunday 28th at the new time of 1800hrs.

ALGARVE LEAGUE DIVISION ONE Second Phase promotion Group

All over including the shouting. Louletano will be promoted to join Imortal Albufeira in the Campeonato de Portugal.

Saturday results

Odiáxere 1 - 3 Quarteirense
Louletano 6 - 0 Silves
Culatrense 1 - 0 Os 11 Esperanças

Louletano have an unassailable lead of 17 points with two games remaining.

Next Saturday at 1600hrs

Odáixere v Os 11 Esperanças
Quarteirense v Louletano
Silves v Culatrense

Relegation group

Guia 1 - 1 Lusitano VRSA
Almancil 1 - 2 Internacional Almancil
Quarteira SC 2 - 2 Lagoa

With two games remaining Almancil will finish bottom, Internacional will finish next to bottom if they fail to win next week and / or if Guia get one point from their remaining matches.

Next Saturday at 1600hrs

Guia v Lagoa
Lusitano VRSA v Almancil
Internacional Almancil v Quarteira SC

ALGARVE LEAGUE SECOND DIVISION SECOND PHASE

Again, all over. Paderne are champions

Promotion group

Os Armacanenses 3 - 4 Sport Faro Benfica
Carvoeiro United 0 - 2 Portimonense B
Paderne 6 - 1 Campinense

The final round of matches next Saturday at 1800hrs

Campinense v Os Armacanenses
Portimonense B v Paderne
Sport Faro Benfica v Carvoeiro United.

Portimonense B are guaranteed second place. Whether or not that would mean promotion we shall have to wait for.

Silver Group, pretty meaningless as the scores suggest!

Alvor 1 - 4 Sambrasense
Farense B 0 - 7 AEF João Moutinho
Lagos B 0 - 6 Quarteirense 1937

Final games next Saturday at 1800hrs

AEF João Moutinho v Sambrasense
Quarteirense 1937 v Farense B
Alvor v Lagos B

Even more meaningless Bronze group

Sport Algoz Benfica 0 -4 Marítimo Olhanense
Messinense 0 - 3 4 ao Cubo

Final matches next Saturday at 1800hrs

Martítimo Olhanense v Bensafrim
Messinense v Sport Algoz Benfica

WOMEN'S FOOTBALL NATIONAL SECOND DIVISION SECOND PHASE RELEGATION GROUP

Final game of the season

Cadima 7 - 0 Guia

Guia finished third of five teams. Whether or not that keeps them in the second division I know not.

Portinmonense's season ended with a whimper last night, beaten two-nil at home by Arouca in front of a  measly 867 spectators who didn't want to watch the Benfica love fest on TV at the same time. Portimonense finished 15th of 18 teams.

Arouca for their part finished fifth and will be in the Europa Conference league next season. Not bad for a team whose average attendance of 1836 was the lowest in the whole league. Portimonense were one place above them in the attendances league, managing an average of 1945. Those numbers are for the stadium about 39% full.

Both teams entire attendances for the season are less than one single crowd for the big three. So what's Arouca's secret in how they can compete?

Farense finished their season with a 3-1 win at home to Tondela. A near sellout crowd of 6017 celebrated their promotion to the big league. I will report on the Algarve League later, have to go out now.

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEK'S GAMES

The final weekend of the top two Divisions in the earlier posts. Divisions 3 and 4 already finished.

ALGARVE LEAGUE DIVISION ONE SECOND PHASE PROMOTION GROUP

This second phase was decided long ago!

Final weekend for most teams.

Odiáxere 2 -4 Os II Esperanças
Quarteirense 1 - 2 Louletano
Silves 1 - 0 Culatrense

Louletano lead the table by a massive 20 points and are promoted.

Only one remainging, totally meaningless. The other two games were played earlier.

ALGARVE LEAGUE DIVISION ONE SECOND PHASE RELEGATION GROUP

Lusitano VRSA 3 - 0 Almancil
Internacional Almancil 2 - 5 Quarteira SC
Guia 2 - 1 Lagoa

Almancil will finish bottom come what may, Internacional Almancil next to bottom. It is not easy to predict how many will go down as the league will try to balance the two divisions in the  light of the relegations dwon from the Campeonato, the need to promote at least the winners of the Second Division and then dealing with tems folding and new teams coming in.

The final round of matches will be on Saturday 3rd June, ko 1700hrs.

Almancil v Guia
Quarteira v Lusitano VRSA
Lagoa v Internacional Almancil

ALGARVE LEAGUE SECOND DIVISION SECOND PHASE PROMOTION GROUP

Final round

Sport Faro Benfica 0 - 1 Carvoeiro United
Campinense 1 - 6 Os Armacancenses

Messinense 3 - 3 Sport Algoz Benfica

Bensafrom finish top.
