The site of the one-time Vale Navio 'resort' is now being redeveloped. They a re currently at thegroundwork and drain laying stage on the 32 hectare (79 acre) site.

This is what it's going to be when finished in 'about 3 years'.

Not much to see at the moment,

Some sympathy for the owners of the rather expensive houses along that road, given the current state of it!

Several months since I have been to Vale Navio, so time to go back and see what's happening there.

Meanwhile, this development is going up across the road from me. From below, it all looks rather precarious, as if one decent shake of the ground will bring the whole lot down. Starting price €195,000 if you are interested.

Been to Vale Navio this morning. It's difficult to see exactly what is going on now. The site is fenced off and the road through it closed. I did get a distant view of small groups of workers making clouds of dust.

However, all around the outside are vast piles of rubble, holes in the ground, trees ripped out. Here are a few pictures of the perimeter.

A sewer or drain pipe to nowhere.

From the air this was clearly a tennis 'stadium' of some kind. It's next to the present day Albufeira riding centre. I don't think it's part of the Vale Navio site but maybe someone know of it.

Afterwards I happened past an abandoned orange grove. I snaffled a few and very nice they are as well!

As for the Albufeira Prime site near the town hall, not a stroke of work going on but maybe they too are closed just for holidays. Would you pay the asking price if you had seen the way they were built?

Took a look at the site opposite Arte Bar. I was assured that work had been taking place earlier. Current state of affairs - interesting concept on the notice

Interesting all these construction shots, must reviit the Arte Bar site this visit and collect some updated video.

On that subject I was lucky to come into possession of some early Marina development video and have compiled it for publish. It's interesting apart from a technical point view to see the timeline and also see some shots of older Albefeira.

It's on a temporary home at present but I will post a link to the Marina topic in around 4 weeks time. Meanwhile I am keeping an eye on phase 2 which seems to have had the summer off Smile

I'd love to see that video mate. I have loads of stills pre marina and during construction but haven't seen any video, do shout up when you publish it, cheers.

The construction is pre our time so was lucky to have been trusted with the footage by a mostly algarve resident.

I really wanted to timeline the project as best possible and include as many shots showing 'how things were and changed' as possible, stills from the project would be a very welcome addition to the final video?

There are a few reference shots I want to take this trip then I will publish the video end of October. I assumed, wrongly, the Chapel da Orada pre dated the development but there were buildings on that site which were used during the project and have now gone. Not being Algarve visitors back in those years it was of great interest to us and a pleasure to compile.

Chapel da Orada? Is that the same as the church Our Lady of Orada? If so that was there many, many years before the marina. I have photos down the valley of Orada, from top of windmill hill, where you can see it and the big square white building at other end that is still there.
