Imortal won the Algarve League last season and were promoted to the Campeonato de Portugal - the fourth division of the national leagues. The season begins on Sunday 16th August. Fixtures are not yet available as of 15th July. The normal game day will be Sunday. However during August and September there are many blank weekends. The somewhat ridiculous schedule means that teams will not play every weekend in the 14 team league. The top two in each of the four regional groups qualify for a second round of matches. For those who don't, the season will be over in early April. The final rounds with promotion and championship playoffs drag the season out until the 20th June 2027. There are no midweek games scheduled, none between Christmas and New Year and none over Easter, the latter for religious reasons.

Imortal fixtures for next season are available at last! And a very strange fixture list it is, with hardly any league games until the end of November. The full list will be at www.algarvebus.info/imortal.htm on Sunday evening, 26th July.

Imortal fixtures now up at http://www.algarvebus.info/imortal.htm One or two question marks to be dealt with as and when information confirmed. Kickoff times will be added when confirmed. August is usually at 1700, most of the others 1500 until April when most ko's will be 1600 or 1700. Note that the bizarre fixture list means that the season doesn't end until 20th June!

Hi,
This is our third visit to the Albufeira in recent years. We are arriving on Wed 26/8 and departing on 5/9. We are hoping to catch an Immortal game but the only scheduled date is 30/8 and that is the FA Cup first round. When will this fixture be scheduled? And is it 50/50 Immortal will be at home ? (some countries like Spain draw the lower league teams at home in some competitions). If Immortal is not possible. Are there other options in the Algarve (I am already aware Portimonense are at Home on 30/8). Many Thanks, Dan

Sorry for the delay in replying. I am away from home. Imortal got a bye in the first round! They will have no game that weekend. Just up the road, Ferreiras will be at home to Aljustrel in the Cup, on Sunday 30th, ko 1700hrs / 5pm. That's according to the official Portugal FA website. I will confirm nearer the time. By the way, as is often the case, Portimonense got the short straw from TV that weekend. Their game will be at 1100am on Saturday 29th August. While I am here, fans please note that Imortal's game on 16th August will not take place. The team they were due to play has not been admitted to the league. Conversely, a fixture switch means that Imortal will be at home to Lagoa on Sunday 23rd August, ko 1700hrs / 5pm. |

Thank you cubsur, your help is much appreciated.
My plan is to try and make both the Portimonense game and also the Ferreiras game - they will be my introduction to competitive football in Portugal. I have only previously seen a friendly. I had seen KO times and dates on both flashscore and futbology (Although the Portimonense website was still showing 30th). |

Importan update for Imortal Albufeira fans. Announced on Friday, at 48 hours notice, that SC Sacavense will take the 'vacant' place in Imortal's league. Therefore the game on Sunday 16th August at 1700hrs will now take place. Grr - I shall still be away. To Dangadd - you can see now why it is so difficult to keep up with things here! Especially in the top two divisions where TV decides when games are to be played, to an even greater extent than in England. The official Liga Portugal website shows Portimonense's 1100am kickoff as mentioned above. Games are often scheduled only 3 - 4 weeks in advance and it gets worse when the big teams are in Europe. They sometimes demand that weekend league matches are postponed so their poor babies don't have to play 3 times in 8 days. PS take some cash, just in case. All the grounds I have been to down here have been cash only at the gate and certainly at the bar!

Imortal 5 - 0 1º Dezembro a good start to the League season indeed! I wasn't there, still in France. More details as and when available. 1º Dezembro were re-admitted to the league on Friday afternoon. Mass confusion! They had appealed, successfully obviously, to the court of arbitration in sport following their exclusion for not presenting the relevant financial guarantees. The FA was not happy, to say the least. Next Sunday Imortal will be at home to Lagoa, ko 1700hrs / 5pm. I will be at that one!

IMORTAL 1 - 0 LAGOA
Scorer : Baiao (54) Hard work against a well organised opponent. A game of very few decent chances, neither goalkeeper really had a save to make. The single goal was a moment worth waiting for. Nine minutes into the second half, midfielder Rafael Baiao found himself in acres of space, took the ball forwards over the half way line, unchallenged he let fly from distance into the bottom right hand corner of the net. The ball did bounce to be fair to the 'keeper, but an excellent strike nevertheless. Imortal's only shot on target! Baiao went off to well deserved round of applause when subbed a few minutes before the end. It was a cool and cloudy day, not at all a summer afternoon in the Algarve! In fact it was so gloomy the floodlights came on 20 minutes into the game, which was a 5pm /1700hrs kickoff. And it even rained, just a little, from half time onward. Enough to annoy the visiting fans, about 50 of whom had been segregated into an open section at one end of the stand. Several of them made their way rather precariously along the back wall to be under the roof. Where they were ignored by the 'safety steward' and the police. Lagoa had the better start, but no there were clear cut scoring chances. Imortal got going after about ten minutes. Diogo Cabral was almost on the end of a decent free kick and was then thwarted by a good interception. Lagoa have a couple of solid centre halves, in the shape of Chriseverton Silva and Kenneth Sebastian. They kept things under control for most of the game. Imortal's star forward, Mario Duarte, playing with his back to the goal for most of the game, was largely kept kept of it. The game was up and down, the lights came on. Imortal defender Heder Pina wasted a good chance, shooting wildly from an overlapping run when a cross might have been better. Lagoa almost scored just before half time, when Emmanuel Eze just failed to connect with a cross that had beaten several defenders. Imortal responded, Pina sent in a long throw which was only half cleared, Floro's shot went just over. Eze was yellow carded a few moments later, along with Imortal's Thomas Nascimento, after some pushing and shoving. The free kick had gone to Lagoa which, when sent in, caused momentary confusion ended with Inacio diving down to grab the ball from among the crowd. But an offside flag had been raised anyway. Teams were slow coming out for the second half, which eventually kicked off at 18.08! Ten minutes in, Baiao gave Imortal the lead with their first and only shot on target. Cabral had another chance taken away when a cross from Rodrigo Silva was deflected just behind him. Silva was another who had a very good game in midfield, along with regulars from last season Nascimento and Pimenta. Not sure about Cabral up front. He is speedy and skilful, but he is a very slight figure who lost the ball far too often and far too easily. A completely new back four on view, in which Dias and Lopes stood out. The game was end to end, a lot of effort to no avail by both teams. A big chance came Lagoa's way on 78 minutes. Sebastian came up for a corner, his powerful header clipped the crossbar and went safely behind the goal. Lagoa piled on the pressure. Imortal's defence dealt with the threats, not always cleanly but effectively enough. A few subs for Imortal at the end for fresh legs. One of them, Mica Silva, was involved from the off when he spooned a shot over the bar from ten metres out and was then then clattered by Barros, who was punished by a straight red card. No more alarms, the game ended with Imortal just about deserved winners, but they must be better in front of goal. No game next weekend as Imortal are exempt from the first round of the FA Cup. Next game will be on Sunday 6th September, at home to second placed Sintrense, ko at present listed as 1700hrs / 5pm. Imortal team : Inacio; Pina, Dias, Floro, Lopes; Nascimento, Baiao, R. Silva, Pimenta; Duarte, Cabral. Subs used : Coelho, M. Silva, Fernandes, Alves. Match statistics Free kicks conceded : Imortal 17, Lagoa 14 Offside : Imortal 1, Lagoa 3 Shots on target : Imortal 1, Lagoa 1 Shots off target : Imortal 8, Lagoa 4 Shots blocked : Imortal 3, Lagoa 3 Corners : Imortal 3, Lagoa 9 Yellow cards : Imortal 2, Lagoa 2 Red cards : Lagoa 1 |
