The kind of pretty touristy picture that gets in the guidebooks. Reality check is few yards further down the hill!

It is no coincidence that in no known language does the phrase 'As pretty as an Airport' appear. Douglas Adams

Does that lead you down to the little bar covered in shells?

No Claire, that's the other side of the square. This comes out at the top of "Bar Street" by what was JoJo's bar.

Ah that comes out beside the Italian, now I know it. The shell bar is at the start of Rua Bateria, starts beside Ricardos. Don't know any thing on the other side of the square??

Indeed Claire it does take you past the wee Bar covered in shells. If you walk down the rua Dom Alfonso 111 you can turn right which takes you up over the headland and down passed the Hotel Sol e Mar but if you turn left you will see the bar covered in shells right in front of you and the pathway brings you out, as you rightly say, beside the Italian.
