One hour delay coming back last night, so not so bad. Because of planes being reshuffled we had a brand new A320 Airbus rather than the scheduled A319, so some bonus with more seats available.

A lot of flights to France were cancelled obviously, so there was quite a bit of wailing and gnashing of teeth at Gatwick.

Apparently they are on strike again, later this month.

Full marks to Monarch who ran a full programme, not like some other airlines who just cancel and leave people
stranded, well done.

Yes we were with Monarch and I give them 11 out of 10!
The Captain kept us fully informed and then, as the First Officer did the flying, she kept us well briefed during the flight. The cabin crew were excellent as well so we're happy to endorse compliments to Monarch through the trials of the latest French ATC inflicted difficulties.
Well done Monarch.

Brilliant - we're due out on the 18th. About time the weak French Government sorted these bloody Unions out once & for all Angry
I hate how peopleï compare Frank Zappa to God. I mean, he's cool and great and nice and everything, but he's no Zappa.

Revolution is the only answer. The unions in France should stop messing about and go on a general strike until they bring the government to its knees, dispose of the opposition and then run the country as it should be run, for the benefit of the people and not the ruling classes.

Oh, they tried that didn't they?

Our Easyjet flight back to Bristol was cancelled late on Thursday night (after we had returned our car to MasterKings)!

The earliest flight available to us was this coming Thursday (so another week in the sun).

Easyjet transferred us to the 5* Ria Park Hotels in Vale Do Lobo for the duration. However, when we expressed our preference to return to our home in Albufeira (after enjoying the luxurious surroundings for one night), they were not surprisingly happy to provide a hire car for the rest of our stay (and save the ongoing hotel and food costs for the 4 of us).

I have just read that the French ATC are planning another strike for next Thursday.

Allez les bleus!

Maybe Easyjet  had a meal & bed  deal with Ria Park LOL. Saying that, its stupid that they were not pleased to provide you with hire car,  obviously it  cost them more than you staying at the hotel.Confused

Full marks go to Jayjan for stating the obvious and missing the humour in my post! After all, with two school children in the party, we are trying desperately hard to keep our spirits up. I found your post "stupid" and unhelpful. If anyone has something constructive to say on the subject, that would be most welcome.

It wasn't meant to be helpful, just a comment stating it possibly cost Easyjet more for the hire car than the accommodation cost. Regards humour, its obvious you didn't get my humour also.
