BTW  I had reply from Safe Communities Portugal re the questions so many folks have asked here and there on other forums/facebook   re the 14 day quarantine when arriving in Portugal . This was their answer "  It's mandatory in Madeira and Açores, but not for the rest of the country. It's a recommendation, but it can become mandatory if the results from health screenings and temperature checks being done at the airport lead to being put under active vigilance - Eliana

There is nothing happening on the Sol e Mar patio .... they cleared everything away on lockdown and they are not opening again until mid-June.

Glimmer of hope today.

Restaurants reopened all over town.

I have news of friends today dining out in O’Manjars and Uzong.

Also a motley crew were partaking in the restaurant down at the beach in Olhos de Água.

It’s a start, but still no pubs or nightclubs, however,  as all restaurants serve alcohol there is no problem getting a vino or two.

Jorge at O Páteo opened yesterday but with only two of his three outside tables in use. At least to start with, it went by the board fairly quickly although not all the chairs were out.

"What are those square block for as they only appeared on Friday."

No idea, sorry. I didn't get closer.

Nothing to stop you so far as I know, provided you comply with whatever additional rules and regulations are required now and in future.

Fewer than 0.1% of the Algarve population confirmed as infected, number of deaths of those about 4%.

One can argue that the effectiveness of the anti-contagion measures is demonstrated.

On the other hand something that has not directly affected 99.9% of the population has allowed governments to exercise a degree of control they have not enjoyed since wartime, which most of us of course are too young to remember.

Kilom by the way is major producer and supplier of poultry to supermarket chains.

Meanwhile, airlines flying into and out of Portugal will no longer be required to apply 'social distancing' measures on their aircraft from 1st June, but wearing of masks on board  and inside airport buildings will be compulsory. Which will make the security cameras redundant.

Of more import to many is the new UK law requiring all arrivals from overseas to go into isolation for 14 days on arrival.

Some will be cheering no doubt that UK has at last succeeded in cutting itself off from Europe, indeed the whole world!

PS how many of you are carefully washing your hands as advised but then drying on the same slightly soggy bathroom towel that's been there for for days?

Only if (a) airlines are flying to Faro (b) Portugal does not impose a 14 day quarantine on arrivals from UK (c) if UK does not still have a 14 day quarantine when you get back (I appreciate that this does not affect everyone and (d) if nothing else happens to create further panic.
