Estrada da Santa Eulalia this lunchtime. I would say that about 2/3rds of the restaurants, snack bars and pastelarias were open but with very few customers. One place I did spot that had more than a handful. Social distancing was totally ignored there! Places that do not have a food licence remain closed as do all others in town, indefinitely.

First picture is of a new hotel going up on the corner next to Pedras dos Bicos. Someone's hopeful!

Junction of main road and the 'strip'.

Sad to see.

Great pictures, Cubsur.

Thanks for the update, Jayjan. Is there any news on Eduardo's being open?

They have also been going around with disinfectant sprays, even doing the bus shelters and the street sweepers are even working on Sundays. No messy tourists also does help!

Unrelated but relevant to current events, outside a certain snack bar in Páteo, even as I write, two groups of workmen from the building site are gathered around half metre wide tables enjoying their lunchtime coffee. Social distancing? Not here.

And observe this general lack of observance by hizzonner o Presidente do Município and assorted workers in this article about the return yesterday to the weeding etc of municipal green space.

This is the 3rd of these I've seen, very interesting. Certainly more folk about but not much sign of facemasks and if you leave a social distance for your conversation someone cycles through it. Work still ongoing at Sir Harry's too.

More shops with tourist type stuff outside, it must be for the locals and ex pats to buy their bodyboards, sunhats and towels

The tourist shops with stuff for the beach etc were among the first to re-open. about 3 weeks ago. Now that today is officially the start of the beach season, it will be interesting to see how many people are down on the sand and to what extent the forces of law and order will be required to enforce the new distancing laws.

And baseball bats, available in two sizes, with “Albufeira” painted on the side. An essential tourist souvenir wouldn’t you say! 😂😂😂
