Does anyone know if we have to have permission to have a Uk car in Portugal for 6 months ? Thinking if leaving it for the summer as the car hire has shot up in price , thanks

A British car can stay in Europe for 183 days , it’s checked in and out of the ferry port and you carry the relevant documents in your car at all times , with your passport .
If you leave the car , as you are only allowed 90 , it has to be off the road.
We are taking the car down , stopping in Bordeaux and Salamanca overnight on the way down , hotels were very cheap, £45 a night , that’s about 6/7 hours drive a day .
