Surely better than air bridges or quarantines would be to have proper testing capacity at airports so everyone get tested on arrivals wait a day for the result and then either quarantine or not depending on the test result... This air bridge situation is a shambles and will only cause more unacessary stress to people who either still want to go on holiday for a break or to people who just want to spend a bit of time with their loved ones that live abroad

It has been clear for many weeks that only a half wit would book a foreign holiday at this time.  Anyone doing so deserves what they get.
Hasn't it been clear throughout that quarantine rules could change at short notice as country's infection rates increased and decreased?
Not having a foreign holiday is an inconvenience, nothing more. Do we really want people coming back to spread disease?
All of this countries problems have come from abroad. The Vikings, Noggin the Nog, the Normans, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, Mr Schicklgruber, The Eurovision Song Contest, Neighbours, Rolf Haris etc.
Stay home and stay safe!!
It is no coincidence that in no known language does the phrase 'As pretty as an Airport' appear. Douglas Adams

Only a "half wit" would devlope a list of supposedly safe corridor countries, then take three weeks to revise said list despite as you say "rules could change at short notice" only to ammend it less than 24 hours later. Taking a country, that arguably should never have been on the list in the first place, off it. .... Another fine example of incompetent government and lack of leadership.

I won't comment on your xenophobic assertions that "All of this countries problems have come from abroad"

" Only a Half Wit would book a foreign holiday at this time"  I see The Governments Grant Shapps has been caught out by holidaying in Spain at this time.

Several countries are changing the rules at a whim. France removed the need to wear masks in shops etc a couple of weeks ago then reimposed it at immediate notice last Thursday. Norway now quarantines people arriving from Spain. And so it goes on.

Let's face it, governments simply don't know what to do that does not require a 24/7 curfew. That's the only sure fire way of limiting the spread of this virus.

I dread to think what they will do in six months when the annual influenza outbreak begins and which is far more deadly.

One reason we shouldnt lift the quarantine is ... massive dishonesty in the Portuguese figures ... none of which can be relied on. If you look at the individual figures published by the DGS for 12 Algarve districts, it looks like they are no going up ... except that the total of all these figures is only 655 ... whereas the total given yesterday for Algarve is 853 .. If I am going to Albufeira, I want to know the state of play on Covid-19, but it is now some kind of secret ...

It's the governments "playing" with figures that annoys me leading to disbelieving almost any statements that they make. E.g. Hancocks rantings, no ppe shortage etc. Every Monday our leader in Scotland states words to the effect that the state of play information she is providing may not be accurate. For goodness sake surely, especially under the current situation, to add up patients in hospital and deaths with corona on the certificate and give accurate figures should not be to difficult.
On another point let's not forget that a half wit related to Boris toured Europe against the rules. Don't do as my family do, do as I say.

Yes, it is all about money. I don't understand the hassle, fact is, sir Boris is looking at the amount off new cases and that number should be under 20 per 1 million inhabitants. The algarve has about 450 thousand inhabitants, so we can have about 9 new cases per day. On 13-07 the amount was 708, yesterday 26-07 853 or 145 more in 13 days or more then 10, case closed.

I hope so Luis , the country has suffered enough woes ! Hope it starts turning around ! If the figures remain lower then the Uk can include it and things will improve 👍

In the last 24 hours, there were 2 more deaths and 135 new infections in Portugal. WHO calls for new emergency committee because pandemic continues to accelerate.
The Covid-19 situation report in Portugal has already been published. In the last 24 hours, 135 new cases and two deaths from the disease caused by the new coronavirus were recorded. • The two deaths by Covid-19 recorded between midnight on Saturday and midnight on Sunday were recorded in the region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo. He is a man between 70 and 79 years old; and a woman aged 80 or over. As for the number of cases, 55 males and 80 females. In both cases, the age group most affected is 20 to 29 years old. But in general, women aged 40 to 49 and men aged 30 to 39 are the hardest hit by Covid-19.
