In other news, Farense hung on to their Liga2 status by dint of a goalless draw away at Belenenses tonight. They won 1-0 on aggregate to survive, along with neighbours Portimonense. Clap

Its over, your mate is reprieved, Tom.
Portimonense 1-0 Farense. Goal in 26th minute settled it.
Surprisingly no red cards reported, and only two yellows. Refs must have put something in the players pre-match gargle.
Playoffs then, over two legs, for Farense against Os Belenenses who finished 3rd in Liga 3.

I reckon the League have it right, Tom. Even if Oliveirense win the best they can do is draw level with Portimonense. Then it will go on head-to-head it appears, and there Portimonense hold the advantage. So Oliveirense are guaranteed bottom-two and relegation.

Yep, just seen that as I was watching Southampton last night. It's good see the careful consideration given to the fans with the kick-offs at such a convenient time, especially for the visitors. The game involving Oliveirense is at 11:00am. The league obviously thinks they don't have a chance!

Portimonense v Farense is on Sunday 17th, kickoff 2030hrs at their Estadio Municipal. Fingernails will be chewed down to the quick.
Pacos Ferreira also play then ..... they are the third team involved with the scrap at the bottom.
From those three one will stay up, one will go down and one will face a playoff.

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES

Liga Meu Super

The relegation issues will go down to the last game!

Felgueiras 1 - 1 Portimonense att. 1325
Farense 1 - 1 Paços de Ferreira att. 4071 (their biggest crowd of the season!)

The bottom four now looks like this, with one game remaining :

15th Farense 40 points
16th Portimonense 37 points
17th Paços de Ferreira 36 points
18th Oliveirense 34 points

Remember that the team finishing 16th goes into a playoff with the team finishing third in Liga 3 to determine relegation / promotion. The bottom two are automatically relegated.

Next weekend's matches for these four, date and time not yet announced :

Portimonense v Farense
Paços de Ferreira v Penafiel (12th)
Oliveirense v Felgueiras (14th)

A draw for Farense will be enough to ensure their safety. Portimonense need to win. Should they draw or lose and Paços de Ferreira or Oliveirense win, relegation would follow. I will add date and time once announced.

Campeonato de Portugal second phase
Championship group south

Louletano 1 - 2 Vítoria Sernache

Louletano lose ground in this four team playoff series and need to win next week. Next Sunday they will be at home to bottom side Malveira, ko 1700hrs at the Algarve Stadium.

Algarve League Division One Second Phase
Championship Group

Silves 1 - 2 Imortal Albufeira
Ferreiras 2 - 2 Lagos
Quarteirense 3 - 0 Olhanense

Imortal are top with 69 points, Ferreiras second on 61 and Quarteirense third on 60. Those three, mathematically at least, have a chance of the title with three games remaining. Next Saturday Imortal visit Quarteirense, knowing that a win would be enough for the title. Ferreiras visit Olhanense, while in the other fairly meaningless game Lagos will be at home to Silves. All games will kickoff at 1700hrs / 5pm.

Algarve League Division One Second Phase
Relegation Group

Culatrense 0 - 1 FC Os 11 Esperanças
FC Os Armacanenses 0 - 4 Odiáxere
Louletano B 2 - 3 Messinense

Culatrense are definitely relegated. Messinenses and FC Os 11 Esperanças may be joining them in the Second Division depending on how the leagues may be set out next season, allowing for withdrawals and new teams coming in. Louletano B need to win one of their last three matches to stay safe.

Next Saturday, all at 1700hrs / 5pm

Odiáxere v FC 11 Esperanças
Messinense v FC Os Armacanenses
Louletano B v Culatrense

Algarve League Second Division second phase
Promotion Group

Lusitano VRSA 1 - 1 Sambrasense
Sport Faro e Benfica 2 - 2 Guia
Portimonense SC 1 - 1 Carvoeiro United
Lagoa B 0 - 3 Quarteira SC
Internacional Almancil 1 - 1 Alvor

Three games remain. Carvoeiro United are five points clear at the top of the table and need just one more point to guarantee promotion. Second are Lusitano VRSA then come a clutch of teams with only a mathematical chance of making the top two slots and promotion.

Next Saturday's games

Alvor v Lagoa B ko 1700hrs
Sambransense v Guia ko 1800hrs
Carvoeiro United v Sport Faro e Benfica ko 1900hrs
Quarteira SC v Portimonense SC ko 1900hrs
Internacional Almancil v Lusitano VRSA ko 1900hrs

The lower group staggers towards its end. Only one game last weekend, Monchique 7 - 2 FC 4 ao Cubo. The final game is next Saturday at 1900hrs when FC 4 ao Cubo will be at home to Campinense.

WOMEN'S FOOTBALL
National League Division Two second phase
Relegation Group

Tirsense 2 - 2 Guia

Guia finished 5th of 8 teams. What that may mean in terms of relegation I don't know for sure, but I suspect they will go down into Division 3.

National League Division Four second phase
Championship Group south

Ferreiras 3 - 0 Leões Porto Salvo

Ferreiras finished third, just missing out on promotion and the chance to enter the final championship round.

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES

Updated Tuesday 5th May

Liga Meu Super

There were vital wins for both Farense and Portimonense in their fight to avoid relegation.

Leiria 0 - 3 Farense att. 6346
Portimonense 3 - 2 Chaves att. 1246

An almost inexplicable score at Leiria, fourth in the league and looking for at least a promotion playoff spot. Portimonense needed a last gasp winner in added time at the end.

With two games remaining the bottom of the league looks like this :

13th Felgueiras 40 points
14th Farense 39 points
15th Penafiel 38 points
16th Portimonense 36 points
17th Paços de Ferreira 35 points
18th Oliveirense 31 points

Many possibilities, but Farense need to win one of their final two games to guarantee safety. Portimonense may need to win both.

Dates and times for next weekend's games have been announced. The league has ordered that ALL matches will be at the same time, 15h30 / 3.30pm, on Sunday 10th May.

Portimonense travel to Felgueiras, Farense will be at home to Paços de Ferreira in the proverbial six pointer.  Penafiel will host leaders Marítimo, Oliveirense will be relegated if they lose at Feirense.

But it might still come down to the final weekend, when it will be Portimonense v Farense!

Carvoeiro United 7 - 0 Lagoa B
Quarteira SC 2 -0 Internacional Almancil
Guia 3 - 1 Portimonense SC
Sambrasense 3 - 1  Sport Faro Benfica

Four games remain. Carvoeiro are five points ahead at the top and guaranteed promotion if they win once more. Lusitano VRSA (2nd) need to win two of their last games to join them. Guia are third, four points behind.

Algarve Cup update

Reason for delay in announcing the final! The semi-final between Olhanense and Portimonense, played way back when, was abandoned with two and half minutes to go. There was some kind of fight and the referee considered it not safe to continue, despite the presence of six armed police officers as Olhanense put it. After much debate, the FA ordered a replay to be held on 22nd April. Portimonense refused the offer. Confirmed by theFA this week that Portimonense have been fined a token €100 and Olhanense go through to the final against Imortal on a date and at a venue yet to be determined.

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES

Liga Meu Super

Farense 0 - 0 Académico Viseu att. 2197
Leixões 2 - 1 Portimonense att. 1182

With three games remaining, the bottom of the table looks like this. I have started at 14th, even though mathematically even the team in 9th could be relegated if all the results combined in a very unlikely manner.

14th - Penafiel 38 points
15th - Farense 36 points
16th - Paços de Ferreira 35 points
17th - Portimonense 33 points
18th - Oliveirense 30 points

Remember that the team finishing 16th goes into a two-legged playoff against the team finishing third in Liga 3.

17th and 18th are relegated automatically.

These are the games for the bottom five teams next weekend.

Oliveirense v Lourosa (6th) that's on Saturday
Portimonense v Chaves (9th) at 11:00am on Sunday morning
Paços de Ferreira v Feirense (12th) on Sunday afternoon as is
Leiria (4th, and looking for a play-off spot at least) v Farense
Torreense (3rd) v Penafiel on Monday evening.

A big ask for both Algarve teams, in fact all the bottom teams. Of some note is that the fates have decreed that Portimonense will be at home to Farense on the last weekend of the season!

Campeonato de Portugal Second Phase Championship group south.

Two groups of four playing each other twice. The winners of each group will be promoted and play also in a single match championship final.

In the south group, Louletano made a good start winning 2-1 at Malveira. They have another away trip next Sunday to Oliveira Hospital up near Aveiro, who lost their first game 2-1.

Algarve League Dvision 1 Second Phase
Championship Group

Fifth game of the ten games series

Lagos 3- 0 Olhanense
Silves 1 - 2 Quarteirense
Ferreiras 2 - 1 Imortal Albufeira

It's a three horse race from now on. Imortal remain top with 66 points, Ferreiras are second on 57 then come Quarteirense on 54.

Next Saturday's games, all at 1600hrs / 4pm

Lagos v Quarteirense
Olhanense v Imortal Albufeira
Silves v Ferreiras

Relegation Group
Also five games into the ten game series

Odiáxere 4 - 2 Messinense
FC Os 11 Esperanças 1 - 0 Louletano B
FC Os Armacanenses 2 - 1 Culatrense

At the end where it matters, FCOs 11 Esperanças are 4th with 23 points, Messinense 5th on 22 and Culatrense bottom on 17.

Next Saturday, all currently shown as 1600hrs / 4pm kickoff

Messinense v Culatrense
FC Os 11 Esperanças v FC Os Armancanenses
Odiáxere v Louletano B

Algarve League Division 2 Second Phase
Promotion Group

13th game of an 18 game series

Lusitano VRSA 3 - 4 Sport Faro Benfica
Portimonense SC 3 - 2 Sambrasense
Lagoa B 1 - 2 Guia
Internacional Almancil 2 - 3 Carvoeiro United
Alvor 0 - 3 Quarteira

Carvoeiro United lead on 21 points, nine ahead of Lusitano VRSA but who have a game in hand. Guia are third on 22 points, Sport Faro Benfica also have22 points and Internacional Almancil are 5th on 21 points. It's expected that the top two teams will be promoted, so some interesting games in store.

Next Saturday and note different ko times

Sambrasense v Sport Faro Benfica 1500hrs / 3pm
Alvor v Lusitano VRSA 1600hrs / 4pm
Carvoeiro United v Lagoa B ko 1900hrs / 7pm at Estombar
Quarteira SC v Internacional Almancil ko 1900hrs / 7pm
Guia v Portimonense SC ko 1900hrs / 7pm

Other group of meaningless matches!

Six clubs involved, therefore ten games to be played

Marítimo Olhanense 0 - 4 Monchique was the only game last weekend

Paderne are top, having played all their games. They have 21 points. Campinense, with two games remaining, are on 20 points. The rest also ran.

Next Saturday both at 1900hrs / 7pm

Monchique v Campinense
FC 4 ao Cubo v Bensafrim

WOMEN'S FOOTBALL

National League Second Division Second Phase
Relegation Group

Estoril 0 - 1 Guia

Not enough for Guia, who stand 5th on 15 points and are now relegated to the third division for next season. They have two games remaining, the first of which will be next Sunday at home to Leixões (also relegated) ko 1600hrs / 4m

National League Fourth Division Second Phase
Promotion Group South

Ferreiras 0 - 6 Académica

Two games remaining and Ferreiras, although third, are now out of the running for the single promotion spot. That will be contested by Académica and Sintrense, who are both on 30 points.
