Yes, could perhaps have been played at Faro unless Farense are playing a closed doors friendly or something. Algarve Cup 1st Round this coming weekend, so several possible venues not available. Another one I shall miss, returning home the following day, Monday 28th.

A fixture for the Algarve Supercup has appeared.
Imortal v Olhanense. On September 27th kicking off at 5pm, at the Estadio Bela Vista in Parchal. Free entry. Not exactly the obvious venue, given the two clubs location.

Saturday in the FA Cup 1st round Imortal 1 - 5 Tondela No mercy from the visiting Liga 2 outfit. Imortal were three down inside the half hour. Mario Duarte pulled one back on 45 minutes, but two more goals around the hour mark finished it off. Backup goalkeeper Botao started, as did Mica Silva a regular substitute until now. Also starting were recent signings Constantinescu and Gonçalves. Whether these changes made the difference we shall never know! I was not there, enjoying instead Kent's vital win in the County cricket championship and Tonbridge struggling to a 2-1 win at home to Ramsgate in the English FA Cup 2nd Qualifying round. Next game for Imortal will be next Sunday, 27th September. Tthe Algarve Super Cup, last season's league winners (us) v last season's Algarve Cup winners, Olhanense. Venue will be the Bela Vista stadium in Parchal, ko 1700hrs / 5pm. Imortal do not play again in the League until 11th October. The League is in effect suspended during the international break. There are however some games to be played, catching up on those postponed over the early weeks of the season. I will report if they affect Imortal's league position. The visitors on 11th October will be GD Portel, ko 3pm / 1500hrs. Imortal team on Saturday was : Botao; Lopes, Pina, Floro, Constantinescu; Gonçalves, Coelho, Nascimento, Mica Silva: Cabral, Duarte. Subs used : Prates, Alves, Baiao and Silveira.

Sunday - Alcochetense 1 - 1 Imortal a game of two penalties and eleven yellow cards. Six of those were for Imortal, five for the home team. Alcochetense took the lead early with the first penalty, Mario Duarte's trusty foot equalised also from the spot. Imortal stay in second place, three points behind leaders Sintrense. Imortal team : Inacio; Dias, Lopes, Floro, Pina; Nascimento, Coelho, Baiao, Pimenta; Cabral, Duarte. Subs used, including some new faces, Miguel Constantinescu, Mica Silva, Gonçalves, Diogo Silva. There are no more league games for a long time. Next weekend though it's the second round of the FA Cup. TV wants to show the game, so Imortal have to be out of bed early on Saturday 19th September for an 11:00am kickoff. Tondela are in Liga 2, having been relegated from the top league at the end of last season. They were down our way on Sunday, beating Portimonense 2-0. No doubt some of Imortal's people were watching.

IMORTAL 0 - 2 SINTRENSE
A very poor performance by Imortal. They didn't manage a single attempt on goal during the first half and it wasn't until too late that some sense of urgency came about, but which still yielded only one shot on target, a low curler from Walter Alves that the 'keeper tipped around the post. In fact the first half was devoid of any meaningful action, apart from the first goal scored by Henrique Henriques in the 11th minute. Gonçalo Guido twisted and turned the Imortal defence, had a fairly tame low shot from the edge of area but, inexplicably, Inacio spilled it leaving Henriques with an easy finish. Sintrense were happy to control the game in midfield, they too rarely troubled the Imortal defence, apart from the goal of course. When Imortal did have an opportunity, the midfield duo of Baiao and Rodrigo Silva contrived to lose the ball far too easily. Passes were poor, the long ball down the left wing far too often finding an opponent. At the end of the 45 minutes + 2, there had been a sum total of two shots on goal and one corner, from both teams. Changes were needed by Imortal! Baiao and Silva were both subbed at half time, being replaced by Walter Alves and Mica Silva, the latter confusingly wearing number 28 which wasn't what he wore for the first two games. Imortal nearly went two behind in the opening moments of the second half, Floro bravely heading a shot off the line. The lead was doubled 9 minutes into the second period. Down the right wing, Adilson Cabral skipped past back-pedalling defenders and slipped the ball through to Tiago Rodrigues, who made no mistake with fierce drive from just inside the area. That did spur Imortal into some kind of life. Our Cabral, Diogo, had some good runs down the right, but his crosses were not seized upon by those in the middle. The Sintrense goalkeeper went down midway through the half. Off trotted the players to the half way line for water, despite the efforts of the referee trying to apply the injunction that they must stay put as the goalkeeper had not been fouled. The goalkeeper was claiming cramp, very strange since he had hardly touched the ball or had to move. The referee also failed to apply the edict that if the goalkeeper goes down and requires 'treatment', an outfield player must go off for a minute at least. Anyway, to make things even stranger, after that two minute stoppage, the referee called the water break (it was 32º) after half an hour, barely seven minutes after the previous stoppage. This weird timing matched that at the Ferreiras FA cup match the previous weekend. It seems here that when it's hot, the water breaks are called 30 minutes into each half. Crowd bemused. Once play resumed, Imortal did have a few moments. Nascimento had a long range effort blocked, by a hand he said, referee disagreed. Cabral had another good run, but once again it came to nothing. Sintrense were well in control. A slightly dodgy free kick, on corner of the penalty area, went Imortal's way with five minutes of normal time remaining. Coelho sent it just over the bar. Seven minutes added time were announced. Imortal won three quick corners from blocked and deflected crosses, but again no-one could meet the ball. Then came Alves effort, followed by two more corners, but still nothing doing. The seven minutes were up, it was just turning 7 o´clock and went the final whistle. Joy amongst the dozen or so who had come down from Sintra, silence from the majority! Next Sunday Imortal travel to the Lisbon area to play Alcochetense. That will be followed on Sunday 20th by a home FA Cup match against Liga 2 side Tondela. Imortal Team : Inacio; Pina, Dias, Lopes, Floro; Nascimento, Cabral, Baiao, Pimenta; R, Silva, Duarte. Subs used : Prates, Coelho, Alves, M. Silva and Silveira (aka Nandim) Match statistics Free kicks conceded : Imortal 8, Sintrense 14 (I don't think we got near enough to them!) Offside : Imortal 1, Sintrense 0 Shots on Target : Imortal 1, Sintrense 5 Shots off Target : Imortal 2, Sintrense 3 Shots blocked : Imortal 1, Sintrense 1 Corners : Imortal 7, Sintrense 4 Yellow cards : Imortal 0, Sintrense 2 |

Back to the older, simple type of format. I hope it works well.
Recent years has seemed to be such a faff at that level of play.

Confirmed that Imortal have entered a B team in the Algarve League Second Division. That gets under way on 3rd October, a week after the first round of the Algarve Cup. The format has been changed, again. Next season will be a single 16 team competition, therefore 30 games to be played. There are no midweek fixtures and none over Christmas, New Year and Easter. The season will not end until 29th May 2027. The other teams are : Olhanense B, Lagos B, Culatrense, Bensafrim, FC Os 11 Esperanças, Alvor, Guia, Monchique, Campinense, Paderne, Quarteira SC, S.R. Almancil, Sport Faro e Benfica, Messinense and Sambrasense. Seems both 'small' teams in Olhão, FC 4 ao Cubo and Marítimo, have dropped out while Olhanense B come in and presumably have taken some of their players. Imortal B will probably be playing home games on the 3G pitch rather than the main stadium. Fixtures are due out very soon. I will make up a page for them.

IMORTAL 1 - 0 LAGOA
Scorer : Baiao (54) Hard work against a well organised opponent. A game of very few decent chances, neither goalkeeper really had a save to make. The single goal was a moment worth waiting for. Nine minutes into the second half, midfielder Rafael Baiao found himself in acres of space, took the ball forwards over the half way line, unchallenged he let fly from distance into the bottom right hand corner of the net. The ball did bounce to be fair to the 'keeper, but an excellent strike nevertheless. Imortal's only shot on target! Baiao went off to well deserved round of applause when subbed a few minutes before the end. It was a cool and cloudy day, not at all a summer afternoon in the Algarve! In fact it was so gloomy the floodlights came on 20 minutes into the game, which was a 5pm /1700hrs kickoff. And it even rained, just a little, from half time onward. Enough to annoy the visiting fans, about 50 of whom had been segregated into an open section at one end of the stand. Several of them made their way rather precariously along the back wall to be under the roof. Where they were ignored by the 'safety steward' and the police. Lagoa had the better start, but no there were clear cut scoring chances. Imortal got going after about ten minutes. Diogo Cabral was almost on the end of a decent free kick and was then thwarted by a good interception. Lagoa have a couple of solid centre halves, in the shape of Chriseverton Silva and Kenneth Sebastian. They kept things under control for most of the game. Imortal's star forward, Mario Duarte, playing with his back to the goal for most of the game, was largely kept kept of it. The game was up and down, the lights came on. Imortal defender Heder Pina wasted a good chance, shooting wildly from an overlapping run when a cross might have been better. Lagoa almost scored just before half time, when Emmanuel Eze just failed to connect with a cross that had beaten several defenders. Imortal responded, Pina sent in a long throw which was only half cleared, Floro's shot went just over. Eze was yellow carded a few moments later, along with Imortal's Thomas Nascimento, after some pushing and shoving. The free kick had gone to Lagoa which, when sent in, caused momentary confusion ended with Inacio diving down to grab the ball from among the crowd. But an offside flag had been raised anyway. Teams were slow coming out for the second half, which eventually kicked off at 18.08! Ten minutes in, Baiao gave Imortal the lead with their first and only shot on target. Cabral had another chance taken away when a cross from Rodrigo Silva was deflected just behind him. Silva was another who had a very good game in midfield, along with regulars from last season Nascimento and Pimenta. Not sure about Cabral up front. He is speedy and skilful, but he is a very slight figure who lost the ball far too often and far too easily. A completely new back four on view, in which Dias and Lopes stood out. The game was end to end, a lot of effort to no avail by both teams. A big chance came Lagoa's way on 78 minutes. Sebastian came up for a corner, his powerful header clipped the crossbar and went safely behind the goal. Lagoa piled on the pressure. Imortal's defence dealt with the threats, not always cleanly but effectively enough. A few subs for Imortal at the end for fresh legs. One of them, Mica Silva, was involved from the off when he spooned a shot over the bar from ten metres out and was then then clattered by Barros, who was punished by a straight red card. No more alarms, the game ended with Imortal just about deserved winners, but they must be better in front of goal. No game next weekend as Imortal are exempt from the first round of the FA Cup. Next game will be on Sunday 6th September, at home to second placed Sintrense, ko at present listed as 1700hrs / 5pm. Imortal team : Inacio; Pina, Dias, Floro, Lopes; Nascimento, Baiao, R. Silva, Pimenta; Duarte, Cabral. Subs used : Coelho, M. Silva, Fernandes, Alves. Match statistics Free kicks conceded : Imortal 17, Lagoa 14 Offside : Imortal 1, Lagoa 3 Shots on target : Imortal 1, Lagoa 1 Shots off target : Imortal 8, Lagoa 4 Shots blocked : Imortal 3, Lagoa 3 Corners : Imortal 3, Lagoa 9 Yellow cards : Imortal 2, Lagoa 2 Red cards : Lagoa 1 |
