I cant find a thread on this, so here goes ...... Four team tournament over at VRSA, usual format, the first fixtures were today sadly for anyone keen to attend.... **Thursday February 7th Portugal 1-2 Argentina [Argies pinched the winner in the very last minute, some very sad faces in the stand]. And Netherlands 1-1 Germany [Germans won the penalty shootout]. **Saturday February 9th Argentina v Germany [1300] followed by Netherlands v Portugal [1600]. **Monday February 11th Germany v Portugal [1300] followed by Argentina v Netherlands [1600]. It'll be 3pts for a win, 2pts for a penalty shootout win, and one for a shootout defeat. Free entry.

Filling in the blanks..... Saturday saw Germany 4-2 Argentina and Portugal 1-0 Netherlands. Portugal 2-1 winners with the last kick of the game, very tense. With three minutes to play an unfortunate German was stretchered off with what looked like a very bad leg injury. Game stopped for nearly ten minutes as the kid was treated. The rest of the German team looked upset and weren't 'on it' as Portugal went on to pinch the winner. Last game Netherlands 1-3 Argentina. Some might say the South Americans reverted to type towards the end........ 2-1 up, they had three sent off [they have 8 minute sinbins] for time wasting/dissent in separate incidents, plus their Manager was sent to the stands for gross dissent [invading the field after a penalty was denied to his team]. The third goal, when it arrived very, very late on, was enough to take the title 'on goals scored'.All in a friendly, development tournament. Cue bedlam at the end. The winners whole squad/management were singing 'Championes' etc and dancing on the field after the entire crowd had left. It will have made for a more pleasant 24 hour trip back home, via Lisbon, Madrid and Buenos Aires.
