   The council is spending around €300,000 to replace the running track etc at the stadium. It had been in poor condition for years and unsuitable for competition.

Work is scheduled for completion towards the end of January. Other stadium works in the planning stage are a new 'support building' for athletics, refurbishment of the bar (always welcome!) and attention to the roof of the main stand. The changing rooms were re-done during the summer.

	Seen yesterday that all the stuff needed for the new track and associated facilities is being delivered ready for relaying etc to begin.

	The 'underlay' is now down and piles of stuff are awaiting the next stage.

	The 'tartan' is going down and the old seats are being removed from the main stand.

	Progress isn't exactly rapid but a month on, the track is almost relaid. China and Norway line up on the well kept grass. It was a bit dry, despite sprinkles being on before the kickoff. The jumping pits have to be done. Meanwhile the repairs to the main stand and installation of new seats continues.

	The red bit round the pitch is now finished. Work is still needed on the jumping pits and throwing circles for hammer and discus, plus renewal of the protective netting. Work continues to repair the main stand and install new seats.

	Track is finished except for the markings. Work continues to take out the old seats, repair the concrete and replace with new seats. The main part of the stand was closed today, we were all down one open end, nearly finished, which meant we all got wet! Club says the new seating should be finished within about two weeks.
