I thought so as well given the odd looking property boundaries. The building on Rua Coronel Águas directly behind the subject is in much better shape, although I am not sure it is occupied. A boundary map from the council website. I don't know why number 3 is 'blank' nor have I figured out what the symbols mean. (My own block has a code 090DA and the house numbers aren't quite right.) Anyone else wanting to have fun playing with the maps, go to https://www.cm-albufeira.pt/content/mapas-interactivos-do-munic%C3%ADpio-de-albufeira |

To save the front facade Tom. One of two reasons I reckon:-
1. Looks like things are moving and part of any planning permission would have stipulated that the front elevation or facade had to be preserved and probably renovated. Or... 2. It could be that it is indeed unstable and that’s a safety precaution but who’s paying for that?
Interesting one to watch. |

I am sure you are right about the facade as the rest either has fallen down or is probably beyond saving. As to who is paying, that I know not. There has been no sign of new owners.

I wonder if they'll be able to get lookalike tiles to retore the facade - if that's what they intend to do.

There are plenty of specialist period/renovation tile businesses. They’ll get them if they want or need them, likely the latter is a condition of any planning permission they’ve got, but obviously there will be a set up and small quantity order cost so they won’t be cheap.

Cycled past this morning. Three or four blokes are busily engaged in taking out internal woodwork, most of which is rotten, knocking plaster off walls, that kind of thing. The building is now no more than a roofless shell. I didn't see a building permit notice, so I am thinking it is safety related work only.

Oh dear, a sorry looking sight now Such a pity that it had been let go that far over the years.
Is there a preservation order on the front facade? |
