Well then , come on you fresh fish eaters , tell me the easy or best way to eat Sardines , they look lovely , but my problem of course is the bones, what do I do to stop me choking myself, I am determined to try them before I cant go to the Algarve anymore, any help would be appreciated

Sardines are easy enough to fillet.Leave the head and tail on and cut along the belly lifting the flesh from the top exposing the bone. You can then remove the bone in one from the tail to the head.It should come away easily using your knife to lift it.Eat it with bread just in case.Give it ago

Had half a dozen yesterday at Alvor Yacht Club - tally ho - and were lovely. The little soft bones you find are ok to eat, it's just the back bone, tail and head you have to worry about but the meat practically falls off itself as they are nearly always BBQ'd. Have a go, they're great.
