Whilst we will all be cheering them on come Sunday, I think the fortuitous manner of their progression may have dampened the optimism somewhat...

I've got two tickets for the Euro finals on Sunday but, sod it, hadn't realised it was my wedding day so obviously I can't go!!
Get in touch if you want to go instead of me, it's St. Mary's Church, Dudley and the girls name is Sarah....

(Sorry for duplicate post, but I thought it qualified for both threads!)

I so want Portugal to win but France seem to be on Fire.I wont respond to your jibes against Ronnie, seen him play many times at Old Trafford and would love him to return as would most avid Manchester United fans.

Dicey been cheering for Portugal since England exit...But can`t stand Ronaldo and never have been able to since the Rooney incident. Cant understand how somebody can do what he did to a Club team mate.
Maybe a win for Portugal in penalty shootout but he misses.

So playing for his Country justifies him getting a player sent off he plays alongside every week.
That may be sportsmanship in your book but not mine. Ronaldo`s problem is he thinks he is Portugal.
As the saying goes with mates like him who meeds enemies.

Your country comes before your club,Wayne and Ronaldo didnt have a problem when they returned to Old Trafford. In fact they scored 46 goals  between them going on to become ChampionsClap

Ronaldo got Rooney sent off?? And me thinking that was Rooney who got himself in deep trouble after STAMPING on Ricardo Carvalho private parts ;) But in some people eyes that was not enough to warrant a straight red card ;) Still i agree that players should not get involved with refs at all... Agora para Domingo vamos embora PORTUGAL :)

Actually no I haven't.
Initially I was hoping they would do well but after the Portugal v Iceland game I've wanted them to lose every time they've played.
Ronaldo had absolutely no respect for Iceland and his after game comments were crass & unnecessary.
During the next Portugal against Austria, he was clearly unhappy with his team mates.
Yes he's a good player but he is a very sore loser and he doesn't deserve to be on the winning side in the final.

No not you I have..... I like to see Portugal do well because of friends over there but can`t stick Ronaldo so at cross purposes.
It is hoped for Portugal`s sake he does not stick around much longer because he won`t like seeing Renato Sanches getting more limelight than him and will highlight every mistake he makes.

The ONLY reason Rooney got sent off was because Ronaldo chased the referee around for 30 secs mouthing off.....as normal. Prior to his involvement the only thing that had happened was a free kick was awarded.

If memory serves me right he then reacted and pushed Ronaldo  thus the sending off.Enough said.

Couldn't agree more. I read an article which said, if Portugal progress or even win it will be in spite of Ronaldo not because of.. I totally agree with that also, with only the headed goal against Wales pretty much his only contribution so far, and that was a basic header for an attacking midfielder or striker at that level, it didn't require any of his 'magic', of which we've seen none this tournament.

I'll happily hold my hands up if he proves me wrong in the final but so far he's performed and behaved like an over rated brat.

Correct as already stated before his....unnecessary....involvement the only thing that had been awarded was a free kick.

They have been very lucky getting to the final, not even winning a match in  a 90 minute game  until semi game, but hey ho. Ronaldo, well to me he is a self centred individual who thinks he's the most important person on the field, and throws his toys out the pram when things don't go his way. Only saying Wink

Confused.com or not Carol. Personally I don't think Portugal deserve to be in the finals, after their bad  performances previous to semis. Lucky lucky lucky and I  hope France slate them and  Ronaldo goes into a sulk big style and throws his toys out the pram . Ducks and puts tin hat on Smile. I might love Portugal and their people  as a country but football is another thing Wink

Well done.

well done Portugal, hard game into extra time but proved they can play without the special one when needed. I felt they played better as a team effort without him. Just sayin :-)

I think you mean Sam Leitch (BBC Scotland football reporter) who in the 1960's famously said "They'll be dancing in the streets of Raith tonight".
The gaff being of course that there is no such place as Raith as Raith Rovers are based in Kirkcaldy.

Anyway, well done to Portugal I thought they deserved to win and like several other teams in this tournament they proved that teamwork, togetherness and belief are often more important than superstars

Don't think "loving Portugal", or any Country for that matter, and wanting their football team to win are necessarily connected.
I love Scotland too but do I ever want their football team (or tennis players) to win?

I agree they played better without Ronaldo. With four players who have or still do play in the English Premier League (five if you count Quaresma's brief spell with Chelsea) they do know how to tough it out, no fancy dans needed last night. And the luck held. If the last minute of normal time shot by Gignac that hit the post had been about 1cm to the right, it would have been game over.
