It may depend on whereabouts you are staying and how far you are willing to travel. There's plenty of choice but my personal favourites are Os Arcos, The Three Crowns and Casa da Fonte all of which are in the Old Town.

Might be worth looking at the restaurant reviews on TripAdvisor. You can select the price range, whether it's breakfast/lunch/dinner, etc. Also shows where it is on a map.

Yea - Casa da Fonte & Os Arcos are in my top three and Castello Do Mar near the marina is definitely worth a visit - it's a little bit different as its out of the busy town which is nice & all are good food

Three Crowns is good (was there last night), but Oliveras and Sao Domingos are top of our list, closely follwed by Museu, Luau, Prima Pasta...

Trip Advisor rates restaurants according to reviews and the top 100 or so are listed http://albufeiraguide.yolasite.com/restaurant.php" rel="nofollow - here

Well done you, enjoy!

Don't like that list pryman, sorry. It's a silly scoring system and several of the discriptions, 'English', 'Portuguese' etc are just plain wrong.

Also for 'Flavours' it says see 'Cabana Fresca', why? They are two different restaurants, we love CF but will never return to rip off Flavours!
In case anyone answers it's because it's the same owners, so is 'Urban Pizza', but that doesn't say see CF, and again, why should it, it's a totally different restaurant, different location, staff, menu....

For a lunch time, I love going to Iguana cafe, great food and staff and lovely view over the bay - good for kids.

I've always enjoyed the food at Peccati di Gola in the old town - very friendly for kids, although a little on the pricey side.

I should contribute to this list...I have never had a bad meal at one of our favorites - Alfredos. I believe its family run and the food is awesome!...

It is a few years since we put up the list ... much more comprehensive one in our Albufeira pocket guide .. and I am fairly sure Flavours had `Cabana Fresca`linked purely for location. Thanks for the heads up .. for when we re-print next year... and we`ll update the on-site one at the same time.

Another vote for Peccati di Gola here, always had great food and service here.

Prices are probably a little higher but we've never felt overcharged.

I did a search for Peccati di Gola and it comes up with Il Brigante?

Has the name changed?...Where is Peccati di Gola ?

My list just keeps getting longer....love it!...

If you are on Facebook they have a page https://www.facebook.com/Peccati-di-Gola-1078633285481885/" rel="nofollow - here but no website that I'm aware of.

They're on Avenida 25 de Abril can't recall the name of the bar opposite and that may have changed after the floods?

Looks delicious, Bob. I'm coming over next week and I am looking forward to visiting all of my favourite restaurants. There are so many of them that I think that I will have to extend my holiday to fit them all in. My favourite 3 are Palacette, Os Arcos and Festa da Praia.

I hate how peopleï compare Frank Zappa to God. I mean, he's cool and great and nice and everything, but he's no Zappa.

Will be very interesting to see how many establishments pass this on.

To be fair, I don't think there were many price increases when the rate went up to 23%

Exactly David - virtually all bars and restaurants have absorbed VAT increases, rent increases, employees wage increases, social security increases and suppliers increases for the past eight years. Bars will not be given this reduction either. If they just keep the difference, they are still a lot worse off in real terms than they were in the mid 2000s.

Yes have to agree we have never noticed any noticable increase in prices where we eat for years. Sometimes we wonder how they make a living when everything is taken into account.
