Tom mentioned the damp air/80% humidity in his weather report today. Does this mean everything in my apartment will feel damp to the touch, when I arrive tomorrow? Do those little Unibond dehumidifiers (from B&Q) help? Any ideas/ suggestions/thoughts appreciated Thanks

Very much depends. Lots of factors to be taken into account, see what the situation is on arrival and take it from there.

Been here just over a week - apartment had been empty since early December. We currently have no resident neighbours above, below or to either side so we don't benefit from warmth coming through the walls, floor or ceiling. The apartment felt chilly on arrival but 3 heaters sorted that out in less than an hour. There was no damp at all but we did put a hot water bottle in the bed for a couple of hours just to warm it up. On some mornings, but despite the humidity not this morning, we have had slight condensation on the insides of our windows that have been covered at night by curtains but this soon disappears once we get the curtains open and a heater on. We have no heat on during the night and when we get up in the morning the inside temperature is still around 18 degress.

And we are here all the time, we are top floor with a flat roof above, as a result it's like living in a swimming pool. Hence my suggestion that you wait and see what your circumstances are sidsmum...

My thingy says 88% humidity this morning which usually means its raining or about to. If there is a decent wind blowing and the windows are open, it doesn't feel too bad but what was it like when you got there today, given that it was raining hard for several hours yesterday afternoon?

It was sitting in a steam room here in Páteo but without the steam. Just thick clouds of water vapour making it feel very damp indeed. Things should be better now but there's still rain around.
