These are in Rua Alexandre Herculano near Inatel. Others are appearing elsewhere to stop people parking on pavements thus forcing pedestrians into the street.

take a look at the same street last year

Slight geographical error from the West-ender ... Alex Herculano is off Sta Eulalia (or the mid-South strip junction) ... down here at Inatel is the end of Dom Henrique, which I think you meant to say ..  could also be for holding on to when trying to climb that hill ..

Great idea im sure pedestrians will see the benefit very soon . Another pet hate of mine regarding parking is when the front end of the cars over hang onto the pavement especially on rua das telecomunicacoes and rua do municipio outside vila gale . And theres many more around town

A welcome project. The path is quite narrow along there. It had got very slippy but they sand blasted it in a few spots a couple of years ago, which took the shine off, leaving it safer. Thanks for the update, Cubsur. Are they continuing these poles up along by Hotel Alisios?

"Are they continuing these poles up along by Hotel Alisios?"

Yes, they are certainly heading up the hill on that side of the road. I didn't take note of exactly how far. I shall keep an eye out for any further proliferations.

And I confess to my map reading error.

I wonder how long it will take them to reinstate the Calcada back  to its normal status. I've seen so many over the resort that have just been left in a mess.

They won’t be doing that just yet JJ.
They will leave it until the post/s are knocked over causing a small local ground heave. Makes sense, this way they only do it once assuming that once each pole is knocked over they don’t come and repair it, as if! 😉😂😉😂

So true Andrew, many of the pavements are a disgrace, even bits of metal  left sticking up when  a post has been broken. Lethal, for anyone,  especially for a child or old person.
I also really don't know how people with mobility problems, especially wheelchair users cope with it all. Disgraceful!!!!

Someone else's job mate. I just do the poles. Same someone else who doesn't clear the mud and other débris from the roadside ditches, thus causing floodwater to go down the streets and not into the drains.
