The Mansão site in the old town has been fenced off with some very official looking metal panels. I don't know if it's for public safety (the building is in a ruinous state as we know) or whether it preludes some activity on a site which surely must be worth millions? The little signs say 'no posters, no graffiti' - fat chance of that not happening. https://postimages.org/" rel="nofollow">

has any works started on the building since being fenced off or is it just to stop cars parking on the land ? lost count of how many times I've walked past there over the years  any ideas how long its been unused ?

It's been unused and falling down for at least 25 years. The grounds were being used as a car park but I believe the condition of the building is now so bad that it may soon have to be demolished. It is a prime site.
