Coming over for a few days at the end of Feb and would like to spend a couple of our days watching England v West Indies ODI matches. Obviously cricket is not exactly mainstream in Portugal but wondered if anybody could suggest a bar that would be likely to show it? The matches are midweek starting around 1pm so all afternoon in the pub with beer and food! Sounds good doesn't it!

Whereabouts will you be staying? Not many places will be open around that time except those that resident ex-pats use. Albufeira is a big place.

I don't know what's open down that end where you can watch the games, sorry.

In the old town, at weekends, the cricket will be on at the Cavern - the barman is a cricket fan and former umpire, but when football's on there won't be any sound.

Unfortunately the Cavern does not open until 6pm on weekdays. You might be able to watch at Tunes bar, up near the Sol e Mar hotel and maybe one or two other places in the old town but most of the 'tourist' bars will still be closed.

You don't have to walk to the old town if it's raining. There's a bus every 30 minutes, hourly on Sundays. Costs €1,40.
