Hi, I've just plucked up the courage to register with Albufeira.com after reading and watching for a number of years. I can remember Avril being on quite regularly and Sid James's photographs were great. I've visited Albufeira five times, my first visit being in 1992. There's certainly been some changes over the years! I find Cubsur's posts very informative and enjoy looking at the webcam from the Sol e Mar hotel. Hello Gazza, glad you have decided to join. I don't post very often but my first visit to Albufeira was in 1990, similar to you. It's my favourite place and we try to go every year or every other year. It is definitely magical and I too love Cubsur's posts (we are quite adept at taking the local buses now, thanks to Cubsur's timetables) and the Sol E Mar webcam! I'm looking at the webcam right now as it happens as I've just booked flights out in September and wanted to get myself all excited :) |

Thanks to one and all for the warm welcome. The escalators are certainly an improvement on the old cardiac arrest steps. Still remember the "good old days" in 1992 when the escudo was the currency. Could get a pint of Superbock for 150$ which was about £0.65p! I've done a bit of travelling and visited Quarteira, Lagos, Faro and Carvoeiro. Love having a fish meal in one of the restaurants near the Louisiana washed down with a cool white wine and watching the lights on the fishing boats.
