The AH3 virus is said to be particularly aggressive, and especially dangerous to the elderly.

Most recent figures have also shown more than 500 people died last Monday, mostly as a result of complications resulting from the flu virus.

This has been classed as one of the deadliest days recorded in Portugal the past decade.

I had my fair share of that earlier this month and so did half the people I know. Not pleasant at all for three or four days.
