The absolute cheapest way is by bus, which will cost €6.92 altogether but will take up to 3 hours.

Bus info - 1030 arrival assume out of airport and at bus stop by 11am.

Bus number 16 to Faro Bus Station leaves at 1105 or 1205, there's nothing else costs €2.22 takes 18 minutes.

Fast Transrápido bus Faro to Albufeira at 1230 arrives 1325 costs €4.70 (there are no buses from Faro to Albufeira between 1100 and 1230) then Albufeira bus station is a mile out of town so you could need either a hefty walk or a third local bus at €1,40 to complete your journey.

A 'shuttle' could be around 10 euros. Google 'Faro Airport shuttle' and various companies come up. These possibly don't need to be pre booked in December but a good idea as they might only be minibuses at this time of year. It won't be door to dor so again you might need a bit of walk, another bus or even a taxi to finish your journey.

A pre booked door to door transfer is about €40. Search ´Faro Airport Transfers´and several dozen companies will come up.

A taxi about €55.

We hired a car @ airport from Travelrent through  Zest in  mid November (  2015 Nissan Micra)  and cost  us all of £25 for 6 nights. Total was £35 but we had a  Â£10  discount  loyalty voucher. Cheaper than a private return transfer €60  or a shuttle return  transfer which wanted £33 so was a no brainer, plus the advantage was, have car can travel anywhere.

Same for us next week JJ, we've paid £34, Travelrent via. Zest for 6 days (we'd already used our voucher) and that's for a Clio, or similar.

Car hire is the cheapest option this time of year - if not try YellowFishTransfers - about 30 euro each way (private car up to 4 people).

funnyorangetransfers.com  private transfers have a 10% discount if you book online, reliable and well recommended. Cheaper than Yellowfish and just as good.

Not cheaper P, Yellowfish are €51 return in winter, up to 28th Feb. Used them last week and was only €25.50 as a regular customer I had accumulated enough points for one free journey.

We normally book through Shuttle Direct, which is operated by GreenBus I think. it usually costs us about 9 euro each way for a shared minibus. Time taken depends how many stop offs before your hotel/apartments.
