interesting. Thank you.
It is no coincidence that in no known language does the phrase 'As pretty as an Airport' appear. Douglas Adams

The assorted vast mansions near the marina are slowly taking shape. One of the gates to the little park is open, so it's possible to go down and have a good look. It is being well looked after, but who by and who for?

One of the gates to the park is locked, but the other is open.

An old cistern, awaiting water.

How water used to be raised up for irrigation.

This preserved well must be 50 feet deep.

But elsewhere is a wasteland, with dark clouds looming! It didn't rain though.

The gates to the playpark do seem to be locked, but someone had found their way in there on Monday afternoon, with their dog.

Meanwhile building the houses nearby continues.

I am not at home at the moment but if the playpark is open, it's about time. With a local population of zero, my guess is that it will not be very busy!

The pedestrian gate has been open at the playpark for the past week or so. Had a walk round, but have never seen anyone using the children's play area. Maybe most don't know of its existence?

Construction work on those isolated villas continues, with a third now going up near the wonky steps. Workmen were spotted in the playpark, resurfacing one of the paths. I wonder it there is any danger of it actually being opened? Most of the rest of the area is still a wasteland.

Still nothing much happening. Weeds are beginning to take hold, except in the locked up park, which is still being looked after.

Another mansion about to take shape.

Some more land is being cleared next to that solitary construction picrued earlier this month.

Distinct subsidence on the steps. When I walked near the egde, my foot sunk about an inch. There are large cracks, also some big holes. Someone did not do their homework!

Elsewhere, there are signs of the ground sinking, partocularly near many of the drains in that huge, unattractive area of slabs. Some parts are becoming very uneven in general.

Weeds are taking over.

But the wildflowers look nice!

I was walking round there this week and of course we've had a lot of rain, haven't we... and so parts of it have now subsided. The worst is at what we call the ski jump steps, these are the steps built without any real need. The land was previously flat but they built up the area and made these steps. The previously existing flat track is still there beside them and is the route we still use. The other things that make these a complete folly is the fact that they are adjacent to some villa plots, so you can imagine the scene with some local oiks hanging over the wall staring down at the occupants while they try to work on their all over tanBig smile.
Then there are two sections in the grey Espelho de água water feature, one to the left and one to the right that have subsided. So before they are even put to any use these will need repairing.

There was a couple of guys from the Camara tending to the unused and locked park. I didn't envy their jobs, one was mowing that vast exspanse of grassland with a regular domestic push along petrol lawnmower and the other was hand weeding around the trees planted in their own little square paved sections.

The whole area is a perfect example of madness in the town planning department.

I must keep an eye out. I can see most of the area from my window.

The day we had the Volta Argarve in the Marina, we had the rare treat of seeing the fountains working. The cascading wall feature is a more frequent treat, it was working on Monday this week when we walked by. People have told us they are on every night.

When it rains the grey area certainly becomes a shallow pond, much to the liking of the local birdlife. I have never seen the fountains working. The water feature over the wall was tested then turned off.

It will take years for this development to take off. I wonder if anyone will buy those first apartments knowing they will be surrounded by a building site. But, yes, once completed it should bring some life to the area even if only used for holiday homes.
