Our friend who has a business there says that there had only been 3/4 men working there but at the start of the week 11 men appeared and it's all systems go. She understands it was due to be completed by the end of the month and they have had an ultimatum from the council.

Pictures from Sunday. Much of the stockpile of materiel has gone, the pavements are mostly complete but as I said a lot of work still to be done on the road surface. I passed by on a bus earlier today. Road rollers were busy flattening things out. Note the tactile strips where crossings will be painted.

At last! Road surface along the Avenida do Ténis being restored. Two pictures taken by Bob D on Saturday 31st May below. I will be going past later, to see if anyone's working on a Sunday (unlikely as noisy work is not allowed) and to check on further progress.

Amazingly they were still working at 7pm last night (saturday). There are signs up saying "warning  no road markings" so they must be planning on moving the fences and opening it up soon.

I went past yesterday afternoon. No work as it was a Sunday but everything along Avenida do Ténis and the side roads looks almost ready. Some pictures shortly. The stretch alongside the old cemetery won't be finished any time soon though.

Hooray! The Avenida do Ténis is now open all the way from the roundabout past the school to the bottom. The side streets are open also, except the Rua Dr Diogo Leote, which is the one that goes down towards the old Mansion. Some work to be done on the pavements, so be careful. Still plenty going on further down. Pictures to follow.

Work proceeds along Rua Coronel Águas and down the hill towards the marina. The road is open, but a bit narrow and you can see those pushing things have to walk in the street.

The other part is firmly shut!
