Imortal 1 - 1 Guia. A game we could have won, but a horrendous error by 'keeper Pedro in stoppage time gifted Guia an equaliser. A free-kick was not cleared properly, Guia regained possession. He flapped at a cross, missed it and the ball was nodded in.
It was overall a horrible, messy game in, I am afraid to say, typical Portuguese style with players screaming for free kicks every time they were touched. The referee obliged, awarding 42 free kicks (I counted) with Guia shading the 'foul' count. Six Guia players were booked, three from Imortal plus a sending off, which was very confusing. Imortal were poised to make a substitution. A player (Miguel) was trudging off, he was told by the coach 'no, it's not you coming off' to which the reply must have been 'no, I've been sent off!' The ref must have produced his cards like a conjuror, we never saw them. Imortal's goal was as goal a free kick as you would wish to see. Six minutes into the second half, a free kick was awarded about 20 yards out, just off the corner of the penalty area. Rui Sacramento stepped up and curled the ball inside the bottom of the near post. Yesterday's other results mean Imortal slip to 12th while Guia are up in 7th. |

Got hammered 5-0 yesterday at Moncarapachense. I couldn't go so I don't know what caused that disaster., Luckily though all the teams below us lost as well, so no change in the league table position.

All three websites I check have corrected the result to 5-1, not that it makes matters any better!

An uninspiring but necessary victory this afternoon in front of a very small crowd. Beat Faro e Benfica 1-0, neither goalkeeper was greatly troubled in an untidy game except for the visitor having to bend over to pick the ball from the net after Imortal's 36th minute goal, which turned out to the winner.

Imortal lost 2-1 yesterday at Os Armanceneses, a creditable performance considering their opponents are still unbeaten this season.
I was watching the rugby. |

Won 7-2 yesterday evening! It wasn't as one sided as it might look, in fact we were a goal down after 4 minutes. 3-1 up and half time, let in a sloppy goal then roared on with four well taken efforts.
It does make a difference when you take the chances, especially against the team fourth in the League! And it did the goal difference no harm. A necessary win as well. Silves won again. More tomorrow. |

It was a good game for the spectators on Saturday, plenty of goalmouth action. Imortal went one down in just four minutes and we all though, here we go again! But Castromarinse had played on Wednesday in the cup and were short-handed, only naming two subs.
Imortal's first goal was a slightly dodgy looking penalty on 26 minutes, the ref had a long look and asked the linesman to confirm before he awarded it. Rui Sacramento stepped up, it wasn't the best penalty in the world but 1-1 it was. Five minutes later Miguel beat the offside trap and lofted the ball over the 'keeper for number two. The same player was on target from close range a few minutes later to make it 3-1 for half time. The second half begain with a good save by Imortal's guardian, Pedro then a few minutes into the our offside trap failed dismally leaving an easy chance, 3-2. Then it all went silly. Half way through the half Imortal brought on a young player name of Ramos. I hadn't seen him before but he had a big impact on the game. Immediately after the substitution, Miguel crossed from the left for Pita to volley home from ten yards. 4-2. Two minutes later, Pita scored again this time with a diving header from a perfect cross by Ramos, on the right. 5-2. A few messy minutes followed, then on 38 minutes Raos beat two defenders and calmly scored from ten yards. Another attack followed straight from the kickoff, which ended in Miguel colliding with their goalkeeper and getting a yellow card for some reason unknown to man. Pedro was booked soon after that as our offside ploy failed again. He had to rush out of his goal to make a last ditch tackle. A cheating visiting player screamed loudly enough to convince the ref it was worth a booking. He was of course back on his feet, undamaged, a few moments later. Then in stoppage time a silly penalty for Imortal. One of our lot had a shot, I couldn't see who it was and a defender stuck his hand up in the air even though it was going miles high. The ref shrugged his shoulders as if to say 'what did you do that for?, booked him and placed the ball on the spot. Decio lashed the penalty past the keeper, after which the ref stopped the fight early to save hapless Cartromarinese from further punishment. Imortal are in 12th place now, nine points ahead of the relegation line but with some difficult games coming up Imortal's best league win of the season and possibly for a few seasons! The home record is a lot better, four wins and a draw out of the last five but the away performances could be improved as it has been three consecutive defeats now. |

Another big win yesterday, what is going on? Imortal 7 - 0 Alvor. I couldn't go owing to illness.
Now level on points, just below mid-table, with Guia and Culatrense and only three points needed from the last five games to guarantee no relegation this season. At home again next Saturday, Quarteira SC the visitors. |

0-0 yesterday at home to Quarteira SC. Terrible game, full of petty fouls and generally unpleasant to watch. Small crowd, less than 100. There were 43 free kicks for 'fouls' plus 9 for offside meaning there was very little football in between the stoppages. Imortal did have two good chances amongst the dross. Miguel Pita headed over the bar on 22 minutes, totally unmarked, he should have done better. The same player struck a post with a fine shot with five minutes remaining.
Other results yesterday mean that Imortal are now mathematically safe from any threat of relegation. Normal round up tomorrow. Smith 1178 - Local football weekend 28/29 April Nothing in the top three national divisions as Olhanense, Portimonense and Loulé are all away. Division IIIF (fourth tier) - second phase promotion group Sunday 29th 3pm (subject to confirmation) Quarteirense v Sesimbra Farense v Messines (Farense play in the São Luis stadium in Faro city centre) Algarve League Divison One - final round of matches -Saturday 28th at 3pm subject to confirmation Faro e Benfica v Moncarapachense Armacenenses v Guia (play at Messines) Castromarinense v Ferreiras (play at Monte Gordo) Odiáxere v CRD Santaluziense Alvor v Estombarenses the two relegation candidates! Imortal Albufeira v Campinense Lusitano VRSA v Silves Quarteira SC v Culatrense |

Yesterday - Lusitano VRSA 2 - 1 Imortal. A good game overall, worth
getting wet for. Imortal played particularly well in the second half,
having gone in 2-0 down and had the league leaders on the rack for the
final 20 minutes. So much so that three home players were booked for
theatrical time wasting in the last 5 minutes and they were reduced to
keeping the ball in the corner to avoid dropping points.
Imortal (in red) pile on the pressure |
