Well it had better be an improvement over last Sunday! I shall not be there. I will be making my final trip of the year to UK to watch Tonbridge in the FA Cup on the 16th followed by Kent losing to Somerset the following week down at Taunton in the County Championship.

Thanks for your postings and recent match report. After 23 years and 52 visits to the Algarve I have finally paid my debts to the family holiday fund, ditched my freeloading friends and do something that I have wanted to do for years, spend a Sunday afternoon supporting DC Imortal!!! For longer than I care to remember, I have been gazing at the floodlights from my lofty viewpoint on those lovely Albufeira evenings at the Casa Azul at Clube Albufeira thinking that one day, Im going to actually watch a game at Estadio Municipal. I have been there many times in the past as the clubhouse serves up some of the best fish dishes for miles around and you can sit and admire the trophies from the past but this year, on September 17th. I will take my seat and watch Imortal v GD Fabril. So forget the Premier League and Liga Nos, this is real football and I cant wait. Keep the match reports coming the best you can as Im only there for two weeks and I dont want to be starved of info when I get back to England.
Best regards
Delbeck.

Imortal Albufeira 1 - 1 Juventude Évora

A highly frustrating game, for both teams and for different reasons. Imortal had trouble scoring last season and that hasn't changed! They badly need someone in midfield who can think quickly and pass accurately. So many times the build up was far too slow, allowing Évora to get organised. And far too many times the ball was given away, prompting groans from most of those present.

Évora would surely have won had they not been reduced to ten men a minute after half time, when Matsimbe was dismissed after a second yellow card.

The afternoon was bright and sunny, but rather windy. The pitch was hard in some areas, making control a little difficult. But some parts had been watered and that was probably the cause of an early scare for Imortal when Torres slipped in front of goal and lost the ball. Luckily the ensuing effort was both weak and wide. Évora pressed, crosses came in but new goalkeeper Lucas Texeira showed a safe pair of hands.

Imortal gradually got back into the game. Elvis Odukporo had a great run down the left wing thwarted by a loss of control. Midfielder Leandro Cortez, another new face, was busy but earned himself a booking. A great chance fell their way midway through the half. The Évora 'keeper fumbled a cross, Torres and Duarte got in each others way trying to get the rebound, a half clearance was lashed over the bar.

Évora responded. Imortal gave the ball away, Tomas Lima sped towards goal, beat the defenders and his low hard shot into the far corner gave Teixeira no chance.

Play became scrappy. Tidjane Baldé was booked after what the referee saw as a poor challenge and probably for dissent.

Just before the break, Évora should have gone two up. Some neat footwork and a bit of ball juggling enabled Vieira to outwit two defenders, but his shot went across the goal and out to safety. There was time for Tidjane Baldé to hammer a shot wide from distance.

Imortal were winning the free kicks conceded count 11 - 5 at half time. It got worse! The second half was a start stop affair of petty fouls and the usual hysterical play acting at any contact.

No doubt words were said in the home changing room at half time. Imortal made a double change, taking off Cortez and Bruno Pereira, replacing them with Cruz annd Fadigas.

Within a minute of the restart, Évora were down to ten. Matsimba flattened Fadigas, earned a second yellow and off he went. Matters became rather heated. A clash right in front of the Évora bench earned Duarte a yellow, as did one of the visitors coaching staff, who proceeded to stamp up and down complaining about the injustice of it all.

Imortal equalised on 15 minutes, given as an own goal. A corner taken by Fadigas floated towards the far post, the 'keeper called and missed, possibly the wind took it a little. Forwards and defenders rose, someone headed it gently into the net. André Farinha of Évora was held responsible.

Tidjane Baldé continued to be a threatening presence for Imortal. Determined play down the right wing earned a free kick. A well worked routine ended with captain Pedro Rodrigues blasting a shot just over the bar. Minutes later, Duarte (aka Marocas) headed wide from five metres out, a free header from a great cross by Fábio Santos.

Imortal bossed the game in terms of possession for the final twenty minutes, but to no gain. They were too slow, concentrating on not losing the ball (in which they failed) rather than doing something constructive with it. Évora were content to sit back and play for the point. There was just one half chance for Imortal, but Torres failed to finish.

Next weekend, Imortal travel to Lisbon to play Oriental, currently 4th. Imortal are 12th of 14 teams, with just the one point.

Hi guys,

Keen football fan and regular groundhopper here...although not the type you'll find noting down teamsheets and recording the goal times, although once i leave my 30's perhaps!

We're staying in Olhos De Agua in October and came across this forum due to some excellent content on http://www.algarvebus.info/imortal.htm - thanks to whoever created and keep this updated.

Looks like a game should be on v Louletano when i'm around so will be keen to attend.

Do kick off times usually get announced within a few weeks of the fixture and do we think this is likely to be 3pm on the Sunday?

any helps or tips would be great

Imortal will begin the new season on Sunday 20th August with a trip to Barreirense, near Lisbon. The following Sunday, 27th, they will be at home to Juventude Évora. Then it's away again, this time another trip to Lisbon to Play Oriental on 3rd September.

10th September is the FA Cup first round, draw awaited.

I will have the complete fixture list deciphered some time over the weekend.

Imortal Albufeira 2 -2 Oriental Dragon

The Dragon came to this game knowing that they needed a win, with three other teams in the relegation zone also playing. No other result would do if others were winning.

Wednesday afternoon isn't the ideal time for playing. Imortal had eleven starters who we had seen, but the subs bench looked like a school outing! It was probably the same for the visitors from the Lisbon area.

The Dragon got off to a fiery start. They forced Imortal onto the back foot from the off, gaining two free kicks then a corner within the first two minutes. The corner was well taken to the far post, where Machado had a simple header to put his side one ahead. More pressure followed. One effort hit the foot of the post and only an expert interception by Imortal's captain Rodrigues prevented a certain second goal.

Imortal recovered, creating chances. Cabral shot way over the bar from the edge of the area then good work by Tidjane Baldé set up Bernardo but he shot wide. Tavares tried a shot from 40 metres when he spotted the ´keeper off his line. Went wide.  Rodrigues was off target with a free kick. Dragon went off at half time one up. There was much studying of phones. At that point they were ahead of the others in the drop zone.

We had the unusual sight of a man from the league telling the referee when to start the scone half, obvious to ensure that all the games got under way simultaneously.

Imortal came out after the break with more purpose and soon equalised. A good cross found Duarte on the far post. His good header looped high into the net beyond the goalkeeper's dive. The visitors pushed everyone forward. The very tall Agostinho forced his way past two defenders, but shot wide. Another long range effort had to be tipped round the post by Pereira. A very nippy right winger, Tiago Feiteira, was causing all kinds of problems. Luis Almeda earned himself a yellow card for a blatant trip as Feiteira sped away from a challenge. Hugo Santos headed off the line. All guns blazing for the Dragon.

Of necessity they left spaces at the back, which was their undoing with 15 minutes of normal time remaining. A long ball out of defence found Cabral on the left wing. He cut inside and laid on a perfect pass to Tavares, rushing down the middle. He let fly a tremendous first time shot from the edge of the area, hard and low. Keeper no chance.

The response was instant, at times Imortal had all eleven in defence. Reward came on 84 minutes after yet another corner. Pereira mis-handled, the ball dropped among several players. After a brief scramble, Agostinho toe poked over the line. 2-2 and more anxious studying of phones. New was that the other results were not going the way of the Dragon. They absolutely had to win. An injury halt on 42 minute gave everyone chance to draw breath. Imortal brought on one of the boys, a very tall striker name of Andre Sarim. Five added minutes were announced. Furious attacks by Dragon, more corners then a free kick on the edge of Imortal's area, almost on time, gave them one last chance, but the first kick hit the wall and the rebound was booted miles over.

At the end, some very sad faces. Imortal finished 5th, a creditable effort for a small club. And that's it until early September!

Earlier today - Imortal 2 - 2 Oriental Dragon. Imortal finish 5th. Their opponents needed to win to avoid relegation. This and other results meant that they finished below the dotted line. Lots of sad faces at the end. Report tomorrow.

Imortal game called off shortly before kickoff!

The two teams from the Azores involved in the relegation situation were unable to play yesterday beause the airport was closed to inbound and outbound flights. Because Imortal's opponents are also involved in the relegation struggle, the League ordered late on Sunday morning that the match should not be played and to be re-arranged for the same time as those involving the Azores teams. Which is now the highly unpopular time of 1530hrs on Wednesday!

Good win for Importal yesterday out in the Azores. A 37th minute goal by Fabio Domingues was enough to beat Rabo Peixe 1-0, who are 4th in the League.

Imortal now stand in 6th place with three matches remaining.

There is no game for Imortal next weekend.

Imortal 3 - 0 Angrense

Not the best game I have ever seen, but after five league games and one cup game without a win, almost anything is acceptable!

Head coach Moreira made two changes from last week's successful draw at leaders Atlético. Fábio Domingues replaced Bruno Torres (suspended) while Tidjane Baldé, disguised by a new hairstyle, replaced Elvis Odukporo, relegated to the subs bench.

A small crowd was in for the 11:00am kickoff, necessitated by the visitors travel arrangements for their long journey back to the Azores. Both teams started energetically on a sunny morning. Angrense had a good chance in the opening minutes, Soares was just unable to get to a deep cross. That was the pattern of their game for most of the proceedings and about as close as they got. Plenty of crosses, but no-one there. Imortal's 'keeper Pereira had just one save to make.

Imortal's opening goal was a rare score with his feet by captain Pedro Rodrigues. Good work down the right by Domingues, a cross was sent in not dealt with. Rodrigues, just about on the penalty spot has a age to line up his low hard shot which was slightly deflected past the goalkeeper.

Angrense responded. Cardoso sent in another of those big crosses which about eight players in the six yard box missed, then Simão tested Pereira, whose athletic tip-over save was roundly applauded. The resulting corner was swiftly followed by a second, Imortal's defenders blocked the shots and eventually the attacks fizzled out.

Imortal's striker Hugo Santos fell awkwardly onto his bacxk. a long stoppage ensued. He went off, rather unsteadily, came back on but within a minute had to go off for good. Elvis Odukporo replaced him. His first significant action was to completely mis-kick when making the cross would have been easier.

Imortal increased their lead in added time and a slightly bizarre goal it was. The Angrense 'keeper came a long way out of his goal to try to stop an attack. So did a couple of defenders. Somehow, in the melée, the goalkeeper slammed the ball against defender Fernandes. The ball rebounded fully 25 metres into the goal. Baldé tried to claim some credit!

Visitors heads understandably dropped. Imortal started the second half well, but Domingues shot miles over, Tavares forced a corner with a useful run into the box. Much of the second half was very frustrating for the home fans. Angrense defended deep, at times all eleven players were inside the penalty area. Ricardo Ramos almost scored the third with a well taken free kick which rebounded off the crossbar. The game was drifting off to sleep with five minutes of normal time remaining when subsitute Lusinho evaded an offside trap, sped off down the right wing to cross accurately for Odukporo, who had an easy tap in from short range.

Three points is three points taking Imortal into sixth place. Next week, Imortal have a long trip to the Azores to face Rabo Peixe, currently fourth.

Hugo Santos scored in the 59th minute, the league leaders equalised on 77 and Imortal had no doubt to cling on through 7 minutes added time at the end at the cost of seven bookings. Atlético had five booked and went down to ten men on 80 minutes when one of them collected a second yellow. Another typical afternoon of Portuguese football!

Atlético 1 -1 Imortal a very good result at the league leaders considering recent form. There is no information yet posted about the game.

Imortal are 7th of 14 teams with five games to play.

Next Sunday they will be at home to Angrense and it's an 11:00am ko so the visitors can fly home to Azores that evening.
