Not much of a beach at all. It's behind the boat yard and can be seen from the headland looking over the fishing port. The nearest beach for you is Peneco, about 20 minutes walk then you can get the lift down. Arrife beach is in the opposite direction and would be about 30 minutes walk but with a very steep hill to get there. It's a lovely beach with a good restaurant. You will need a good drink if you walk there in August.
we're not brazil we're norn iron

Arrife and San Raphael are about a 30 min walk from the marina - in the opposite direction to the old town - although agree about the steep hill!

There are a few TukTuk taxis running that route now though so may be a better bet.

Sao rafael beach is very nice and it has a restaurant there which is convenient for refreshment and also there is a good sized car park if you are driving.

As already mentioned,if you are walking there is quite a steep hill to get up,but that said we've stayed at a villa right by that beach and we use to walk into the old town at night, and stagger back.
