Hi,

I am looking for either self catering accommodation for August 2016. We are are a family of 5 but are interested in somewhere between the old and new town.

We are looking for near the beach rather than around the Parasio/Brisa Sol road.

We used to walk from Oura to the old town and walked past many hotels/Apartments en route but i don't know the name of any.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Elma Apartments are nice. Near the beach, halfway between Strip and Old Town.

We have just got back from staying at the Luna Clube Oceano which is on the way down to the beach at Forte Sao Joao.It has recently had a lot of renovations and it is really nice,spacious apartments,spotless and 2mins from beach.

I also agree that Clube Oceano is lovely and they have done a fabulous job with the renovations. I think that most apartments are 1 bedroom and are suitable for only 4 people and the availability of 2 bedroom apartment is very limited. Apartments Elma, which are in the same area are mainly 2 bedrooms. Another option slightly further away, but between old and new are Baracuda apartments They are mainly privately owned. I have seen them on holiday lettings site. I've not stayed there but have been told by locals that they are good quality.

Forgot about Club Oceano we had a 2 bed apartment there many years ago, very spacious. Looks lovely now when we pass Nice area with bars and restaurants and very near beach.

From Praia da Oura roundabout towards Old Town ... on the left Oura View Beach Club, on the right Jacaranda villas ... Rua Vasco da Gama left, Topazio, Areias Village, Barracudas, Auramar (access to two beaches)  ... straight along Dom Henrique main road .. on the right, Sereia da Oura, KR Hotel ... Tres palmeiras roundabout, on the right Forte do Vale .. straight on, left at Rua Forte, Clube Oceano, Monica Isabel, Praia Forte ... straight on downhill to Old Town ... on the left, Alisios and Inatel beach, on the right Inatel ... up right of Pau do Bandeiras is Almar ...

Thanks for all the replies. Gives me plenty to research. 

Pyrman, are you a agent? Always dubious about paying funds to Ownersabroad etc . I know you are active in the area as I've seen you on here and TA. So id happier paying someone like yourself who has a good reputation

Just looked on your site pyrman. Very interesting site.

I am also looking (and had quotes for Parque do Corcovado.  Can anyone reccomend a reputable owner?

Parque Corcovado is about a mile from the nearest beach.

Sorry I cannot recommend anyone there, no knowledge.

Can anyone help?Looking at renting a private let for10 nights end of Aug /Sept.Need somewhere with a decent/proper kitchen and spacious lounge area and outside sitting.Pool would be a bonus.
