Hi, bought new house 8 weeks ago and previous owner inherited the property. He is unable to provide a water bill as we want to start paying for water. What is the quickest way to go about this please. Solicitor very slow to act therefore I'm going to do it myself. I've tried searching Albufeira Camara site to no avail. TIA

I had water related problems recently, agency responsible for releasing us from the old apartment didn't do that on time but also didn't deliver any pending bills so camara muncipal happily started piling bills plus interest. I ended up using my lawyers and they finished all in couple of hours, without them I doubt I would be able to find out what the debt is. So the address in Albufeira is camara muncipal but without Portuguese speaking help it would be hell to solve.

Thank you. I think we need a technician to visit premises as water meter doesn't seem to be moving! I will pursue this week as soon as possible. Is an appointment necessary so that I can arrange for Portuguese speaker?

I don't think physical presence or appointment is needed, my lawyers are in Lisbon and they did everything over the phone and email.

The water dept is in the main council building and no appointment needed. Just go with a Portuguese speaking person and all yours and the house documents
