From last Friday tobacco and alcohol will be cheaper at the airport for Brits buying their meager allowances. What's going to happen to all the shops that have relied on our "duty free" purchases? People from EU countries will be unaffected but will there be enough Dutch, French etc. to make up the difference?

It is no coincidence that in no known language does the phrase 'As pretty as an Airport' appear. Douglas Adams

In the grand scheme of things a few people not buying 800 fags at a time probably won't make much of a difference, especially the way things are now and likely to be for months to come. No British visitors not spending.
Will airport prices be reduced? Probably not. You might have to go to the VAT reclaim place and fill out a form. There's nothing to stop anyone buying up stuff from shops but UK customs will no doubt be checking baggage when you get back.
