The local EVA and Frota Azul bus companies announced their new timetables coming into effect as of today LAST NIGHT at 12 hours notice!! There are many changes to every route. Some routes have been changed as to where they stop, some have now been permanently withdrawn having been 'suspended' since March. Weekend service is often very scarce.

Do check bus times carefully even if you looked them up yesterday. I am updating my website as fast as I can.

The GIRO buses around Albufeira are not affected.

I have just about got to grips with the enormous changes to local buses. Every single timetable changed. The two main routes along the coast Transrápido Faro - Albufeira - Portimão - Lagos and Linha Littoral Albufeira - Portimão - Lagos are now fully restored as they were 'before', in fact the Linha Littoral now stops in Alcantarilha, Senhora da Rocha (on the main road outside Intermarché supermarket) and at Porches, improving things for travel to and from those places.

However, on weekdays, buses along the busy Albufeira - Vilamoura - Quarteira route are only about half the number they were. A few places like Galé and Paderne have very few buses at all, almost none at weekends. The route out to Açoteais, Falésia and Rocha Baixinha has six buses each way every day, but finishes an hour earlier.

Some of the information on the official websites is a bit contradictory and one timetable has changed again even since Wednesday. As of yesterday all timetables had been removed from bus stops.

The local GIRO buses around Albufeira are not affected and currently offer the same service as always.

If you or anyone you know plans to use the buses, keep an eye on the times. Two timetables were changed again on Friday!

A few more buses are running at weekends from next weekend, but overall the bus service between Albufeira and nearby towns and villages is only about half of what it was a year ago.

The GIRO bus routes around town are running normally.
