   Cannot stress this highly enough. On three recent journeys, visitors have been alarmed at the fact they cannot pay using a contactless bank card. Some had cash, but in one case three women simply couldn't travel as they had no cash.

Both Giro and VAMUS offer apps and pre paid passes to allow cash-less journeys.

The only exception is the Proximo bus network around Faro, where bank card payments are accepted.
