Seen a couple of announcements on Facebook today which are sad, 1st was Johnny Hooper announcing they were closing soon then I have just read the Cottage is closing after new year, Is it another sign of the changing face of Albufeira?
The Cottage especially for us has so many good memories.

Yes, owners retiring, leases expiring, a few places change hands every year. Unfortunately for traditionalists, there does seem to be an increase in get rich quick places, selling ice cream to tourists, that kind of thing.

Bistro in the Old Town is. now under new ownership too. It's very disappointing as it was by far our favourite restaurant there.

Things are changing and not for the better.

Also noted the last remaining traditional bakery shop in the old town, the one on the square next to the bank, has closed and been replaced by some fly by night gaudy tourist thing.

I found that out on the 17th September when I went to buy the lunchtime bread. very disappointed to see yet another very small bar in its place. Who would want a drink in there, I've no idea.

We were in Dom Capito twice last month as it was one of our favourites. Carlos ( I think that was his name) was not a well man. He did seem to be getting very confused. So sad

Bagatelle restaurant, opposite Kim's Bar and above Sitio do Mario, has now become Kaifu 'Table BBQ and Sushi'.

Merlin's bar in town shows no sign of work and remains closed.

This is a terrible shame. Probably my favourite bar in the Old Town. Going to have to reconsider where my ashes are going to be scattered now once I've gone!

Loraine is not renewing the lease but there is a possibility of doing something else elsewhere.

I would reckon with the location and success of Iguana that it will continue in some form going forward.
