I see basking sharks in the Firth of Clyde. Great open mouthed things filtering out plankton as they go. Quite alarming when you see them at first. If they bump against a small boat they could tip it I suppose. Not a tooth in their head. An unrelated joke: Question - What succeeds? Answer - A gumsy budgie.

As kids we used to watch them in summer from the harbour tower at Saltcoats .. they were fairly regular in the Clyde estuary ..
