Hi All, thinking about possibly having solar power put in. Does anyone have any experience of this? Is it worth it? We have a 3 bed villa with a pool and the electricity bills seem to keep going up!
Any advice would be gratefully recieved. TIA

We have 6 x 150w panel supplied by edp and they save about 30-50 euro a month if you run appliances when the panels generate the most power.
Having sold our villa recently, I am looking to go completely off grid in our next house with more than likely around 40 panels and big lithium batteries to enable 3 air con units during the night etc. I expect the system to cost between 15-20K. There are several suppliers over here but I don't have experience of them. I have been doing all my searches in UK suppliers.

My house is entirely electric and had to rin emersion style tank 24/7. We eventually got water tank and solar panel on roof and electricity bills halved. We have a 200 litre tank and installation and equipment cost €2300. Considering more panels at a later date...

I don't have any personal experience with solar power, but I've heard that it's a great option for people who live in sunny climates.
A lot of people are hesitant to switch to solar power because they think the initial investment cost is too high, but that's not always the case. There are a lot of government rebates and tax credits available for people who switch to solar, so it's worth doing your research to see if it's a viable option for you.
I also read an article the other day here: http://www.aei.ie/blog/electricity-produced-by-solar-panels-for-homes that helps businesses and homeowners go solar. They seem like they're really knowledgeable about the process.
