You may wish to visit

I met the people at the seminar hosted by the Brtish Consul a little while back. Some free downloads and advice on the website and links to more commercially oriented stuff.

Tom, do you know how to register with the Safe resident programme? It sounds like a very good idea for those living there to do so.

It was originally aimed at people living in isolated rural areas, but it is now expanding into urban areas such as Albufeira.

Av, I'm sure Clive Jewel in his e-mail response to me said you had to go to the Police station to register.

from the website

"...in Albufeira the GNR proactively select areas to be covered."

The system is starting with people living in isolated areas, whose addresses are barely known by themselves, let alone anyone else!

They calculate GPS co-ordinates for each designated property so that the GNR database knows where you are even if you don't.

This event on Good Friday may be of interest to those of you with property here or who live here. It will be in the Iceland store next to Algarve shopping near Guia.

Safe Communities at Iceland Supermarket - 25th March 2016

For the first time, Safe Communities Portugal will be holding an Easter Crime Prevention and Public Safety display at Iceland Supermarket, in Guia. The event will take place on Good Friday 25th March 2016 from 1000 to 1700 hrs.

The purpose of the display will be provide advice and information to the international community on various crime prevention and public safety subjects, including, household, personal and vehicle security; how to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime; forest fire prevention; the GNR Safe Residents Program and cybercrime.

We will have leaflets in a number of different languages on crime prevention that can be taken away. We are very pleased to meet with both residents and visitors to answer questions. It is hoped that people take the opportunity to visit us at the stand.

There will be a special quiz for children and Iceland Supermarket have kindly sponsored a nice Easter egg for the winner.
