After being offered a free week in a 5* star hotel I too would be trying desperately hard to keep my spirits up....Not.

French air traffic controller union SNCTA has confirmed that the threat of strike action on April 16-18 has been lifted.

Whilst that is good news, there's some bad to follow it.
This from 'The Independent' newspaper...
"...French air-traffic controllers planned a three-day stoppage beginning on 16 April. At the end of a day of negotiation, the union announced via its Facebook account that this threat had been lifted - but it insisted a four-day strike from 29 April to 2 May could still go ahead."

Glad no-one seems to have been affected by the French ATC strike on Tue Jan 26 (2016) ... I was flying Faro to Edinburgh without a hitch and most destinations in UK, coastal Holland and further north seemed to escape the many cancellations.

Will there be another one at easter we wonder ?

One of an ongoing series of anti-government strikes affecting the public sector in France. The proposed abolition of the guaranteed 35 hour week seems to be one problem.

No-one works 35 hours of course, but you get 25% more for every extra hour worked over 35.

There is a national strike scheduled for 31st March, which will no doubt have similar knock-on effects all over the place.

Here's a list en français of various strikes in that country

I frequently visited my Companys' office in Paris and not only did they only have to work 35 hours, they got 60 days holiday a year & 3 months paternity leave when their wives had a baby. Not only that but people doing the same job as me (who was working at least 60hrs a week with only 26 days holiday) got roughly the same wages.
