Ti Gracinda. Opposite entrance to Multi Storey car park. Pass it every time I go to the shop!

I saw him yesterday, looking agitated as usual. He has no job at the moment of course.

"Looking agitated ". Indeed he is, the GNR pulled him up about drinking on the street. Now those of you that know Jimmy will know he always has a bottle of sagres at hand, usually set on top of the electric box thingy where he stands. He not happy.

Oh, and the restaurant was open last week.

If the same Jimmy, he's been around at least 22 years as used to do timeshare with Chez and she knew him from timeshare in UK. Used to catch up a few times a year when we went to our accountant but now we use someone in Loule so don't see him. Pls say hi from us!!

Ah bless him. Um. He is soaked in alcohol and shot by drugs, but essentially a lovely guy with a memory that lasts now for about a couple of hours at the most.  I live a few steps up from that restaurant and have had endless conversations with him not to tout me, but he remembers nothing the next day.  Its such a shame.  As Bob says, he always puts his bottle of beer on the electric box outside of Sipel.  He was living above the restaurant but not sure if he is still.

It reminds me of the other fella before him.  Remember him? I can't remember his name. He was a heroin addict (bought from the house on the corner by the car park opposite me - I used to watch them when they all lived there) but he had a huge ulcerated area on his leg, tourists used to dress it, you could see the bone and the next thing he was gone. He used to sit outside Sipel on the bench.

wendyhsmith that explains why I've had the same conversation with him again and again, but he'll still stop me every time I pass which could be 3 or 4 times a day. Our place is just up the hill from you in Verandas do Mar. He always has a smile and is pleasant and polite but obviously has his demons. I've seen him get his bottle of Sagres in Sipel, I reckon that's how he's paid. Poor Jimmy.

Been talking to Jimmy tonight, business is slow because the tour companies are tending to redirect t business to the Strip rather than the old town while the rebuilding goes on. Jimmy is doing his best to bring customers in and is doing a cracking job under the circumstances. I just hope he's here in February when I am here next as he is a real character and is a lovely guy to talk to. We just walked down past the bar and he aapproached us 'underselling' the cafe/bar he was touting for and won us over. What a find and we'll be back in a few weeks to buy him another ccuple of bottles and have another meal.

Will be calling to see Jimmy today. Still going strong and by the sounds of it as chipper as ever. My daughter and her boyfriend came back to the apartment two nights ago saying they'd been talking to a lovely English chap on the street but not gone for dinner....we'll put that right before the weekend and leave a few Euros in his hand.
