Yse, my mistake above. Yesterday, Nacional lost 3-0 and Marimito drew 0-0. So. with that one game remaining midweek, it's close. If Boavista draw and Farense win, both would have 34 points but Farense's advantage that they beat Boavista twice, so would be placed above them in the final analysis. Portimonenese need a point, but if they lose and two or all three below them win, they could be either in the second relegation spot or have to suffer the the agony of a playoff against the team finishing third in the second division. That would be either Arouca or Vizela. According to the official website, all the games are currently scheduled at 1600hrs Wednesday.

Having spent a few minutes rooting around, Portimonense cant be directly relegated. They have the head-to-head over Farense.
However if they finish level with Boavista its bad news ...... In h-t-h summary then, Rio Ave have it over Farense and Portimonense. Farense over Boavista. Portimonense over Farense. Boavista over Portimonense. |

Would like to think that Portimonense should get a point against Braga. Braga have nothing to play for and Portimonense should be well up for it but you can never tell. The games involving the relegation threatened teams start at 8pm ( according ) to the BBC. Porto game is at 6 30 and Sporting Lisbon at 9 30.
Would like to think that the Algarve can keep one team in the top flight. Fingers crossed. |

Mmmmm, Portimonense will do well to get anything from Braga. In their last ten matchups just two draws and eight defeats.
Noteworthy also that Farenses oppo Santa Clara need the three points to optimise qualification for next seasons initial Europa Conference League. Fingers and toes crossed.

Just read that B Gauld has not made the Scotland squad for the Euro's. Not surprised. Probably better off out of it. I think he will have more on his mind after tonight's game regarding his future. Gut feeling is he will be snapped up by either Braga or VG. I don't think he will sign for any of the top three.
Probably a wise decision as so many young players end up being on the fringe and then finally get released with their confidence shattered. Best of luck to both Portimonense and Farense tonight. |

Well Done Portimonense, a most vital point. Sad for Farense. Interestingly both teams promoted last season have been relegated this season.

Last night Portimonense 0 - 0 Braga Santa Clara 4 - 0 Farense Portimonense escaped the relegation / promotion playoff by that one point, Rio Ave having beaten Nacional. The match details show that Portimonense were outplayed by Braga and had to commit a lot of fouls (and take four bookings) to secure that vital point. The game between Santa Clara and Farense featured forty (!) free kicks and seven bookings.

Now there are just the matters down in the Campeonato to finish off.
Louletano and Moncarapachense lost in their Promotion [to the new Liga 3] group today. With one game left each, neither can move up so they should be at the current Campeonato level next season. In their Group theres life for Olhanense, a narrow win this afternoon putting them into the second promotion spot. Next Sunday they are away to Real SC [Queluz, Lisbon-ish, who are third]. The Algarveians will be promoted with a win or a draw, Real will go up with a win. Fingers crossed, again. |

Full results for the Algarve teams : Group 7 Sporting B 2 - 0 Moncarapachense Louletano 0 - 2 Oriental Dragon Next Saturday at 1130am Louletano play Moncarapachense in the 'dead rubber' while Oriental Dragon and Sporting B go head to head for the top place. Group 8 Olhanense 1 - 0 Praiense Amora 2 - 2 Real SC Olhanense play at 1700 next Sunday. The other game is at the same time (in the Azores) so anxious eyes will be cast in both directions. |

Just a quick couple of questions. How can a team that play in the Third Division afford to travel to the Azores? Is there financial help for those teams that have to travel to these matches? Taking into account that most of these teams have little or no money, I m just amazed how these clubs could undertake these commitments.

Not exactly of Algarve interest but for completeness, ......
Yesterday in the Liga relegation playoff round, first leg ...... Arouca 3-0 Rio Ave So having squeaked ahead of Farense on the last round of games, Ave are really in the mire against the Liga2 thirdplacers. Second leg is on Sunday.

Oh dear, the fat lady is letting rip at Olhao.
Real 1-0 Olhanense. Thus Real take the second promotion spot, with the locals likely to be up against Imortal Albufeira in the Campeonato next season. Only scoring two goals in the six group games didnt do Olhao much good in this recent competition!
