The link doesn't work, although the page is there. Strange. But the news is sad and likely to repeated not just here in Portugal but all over Europe as all but televised spectator sport is surely to stop.

First round of the Taca de Portugal today, tho my link has a couple of 'changes' to the schedule. The Ferreiras v Louletano derby is on Wednesday the 7th of October @ 8.45pm [maybe hoping against hope for a crowd to be allowed in??]. Also, somehow, Culatrense from down in Faro appear in the draw…… away to Moura at 3pm on Monday October 5th.

After much searching (the links on the official website don't work) I discovered that the national Women's League, Division 2, begins this coming Sunday 4th October. Guia will again be the Algarve's sole representative. They begin with a home game on Sunday. Their southern and central section will consists of only eight teams. There is a corresponding eight team northern section with playoffs at the end to determine promotion.

Imortal will begin with a home game on 31st October against Culatrense. The Second Division will consist of 12 teams playing each other once, thus 22 games. It is not known whether or not spectators will be permitted from the outset.

Imortal fixtures in full at www.algarvebus.info/imortal.htm A big reshuffle sees Guia back in our league as well as Ferreiras, so provided we are allowed in to watch there will be four local derbies to look forward too. Division One fixtures in full, week by week, are at https://resultados.fpf.pt/Competition/Details?competitionId=19600&seasonId=100 and Division Two at https://resultados.fpf.pt/Competition/Details?competitionId=19760&seasonId=100

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES
Liga Nos Marítimo 1 . 2 Portimonense first win of the season for Portimonense who are now 14th of 18 teams Farense 3 - 3 Famalicão Farense grabbed a point with a stoppage time equaliser. That was their first point of the season, they are bottom of the league. Next weekend Portimonense travel to fellow strugglers Tondela for the Friday night game, Farense will be at home to Rio Ave on Sunday. Specatators still not admitted. 28,000 can go to the Grand Prix next weekend but not a few hundred to the São Luis stadium. Illogical. Campeonato de Portugal Group H results for Algarve teams Lagos 3 - 0 Aljustrelense Olhanense 2 - 1 Louletano Moncarapachense 0 - 1 Vìtoria Setubal The first game for both Lagos and Louletano, even so Lagos find themselves in fourth place! Next weekend Friday 23rd at 1700 Louletano v Pinhalnovense at the Algarve stadium Lagos, Moncarapachense and Olhanense will all be away in distant parts on Sunday afternoon as usual. I don't know if spectators are allowed at this level. There is no information I can find one way or the other. Women's Football National Division Two south group Alverca 2 - 3 Guia Guia are second on goal difference behind Sporting CP. Sporting have a goal difference of +31 after three games, which suggests they are a bit better than most of the teams in this league. No league games next weekend and so far as I can see no cup games either. |

Portugal FA Cup third round draw. União Leiria v Portimonense CF Estrela v Farense Maybe a bit of luck for the two Algarve teams, both being drawn away to third tier sides. matches scheduled for the weekend of 21 / 22 November. (All other Algarve teams are already eliminated.) Football weekend 31 October / 1 November The travel restrictions announced for that 'holiday' weekend may mean the postponement of some games. Situation unclear at the moment.

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES
Liga Nos Tondela 1 - 0 Portimonense att 132. Presumably a 'test event' but how allowing 132 into a stadium that holds 5,500 proves anything I really do not know. Farense 0 - 1 Rio Ave att 860 played at the Algarve Stadium. Again, how such a small number in a stadium that holds 29,000 means anything eludes me. (Another game in the league played with a 'crowd' was at Santa Clara (Azores) where 932 were allowed in.) Portimonense are 16th with four points from five games, Farense bottom with 1 point. Next weekend, Farense travel to Lisbon on Saturday to play Belenenses while Portimonense will be at home to Santa Clara on Sunday, ko 1500hrs. I am assuming that football is exempt from next weekend's travel restrictions. Fairly academic I suppose with fans not allowed in. Campeonato de Portugal group H - results and fixtures for Algarve teams. Louletano 5 - 0 Pinhalnovense played on Friday afternoon! Vítoria Setubal 1 - 1 Lagos Juventude Évora 0 -2 Moncarapachense Aljustrelense 0 - 2 Olhanense Olhanense are second, six points from three games, Lagos third with four points from two. Louletano and Moncarapachense both gained their first points of the season and are in 8th and 9th respectively. Next weekend - if exempt from the travel restrictions Saturday 31st October Lagos v Juventude Évora ko 1500hrs / 3pm Sunday 1st November Olhanense v Vítoria Setubal ko 1500hrs / 3pm Louletano and Moncarapachense will be away. ALGARVE LEAGUE This is due to get under way next Saturday. I cannot find any information about whether these games will be allowed to take place or whether spectators will be allowed. Division 1 all games on Saturday 31st October 1500hrs / 3pm Imortal Albufeira v Culatrense 11 Esperqanças v Quarteira SC Lusitano VRSA v Almancil Odíaxere v Guia Silves v Ferreiras Quarteirense 1937 v Lagoa Louletano B v Ass. Farense postponed until 9th December Division 2 all games on Saturday 31st October 1800hrs / 6pm Campinense v Portimonense B at Loulé Municipal second pitch. Maritimo Olhanense v Carvoeiro United Sambrasense v Quarteirense Paderne v 4 ao Cubo Internacional Almancil v Sharks United (how on earth were they let back in!) Mentes do Desporto v Farense B at Estombar WOMEN'S FOOTBALL I cannot find any games scheduled for next weekend. |

The draw for the first round of the Algarve Cup was made last night. SR ALMANCILENSE v GD LAGOA FUTEBOL CLUBE 11 ESPERANÇAS v CD MARITIMO OLHANENSE GUIA FC v SILVES FC QUARTEIRA SC v PORTIMONENSE SC ARDC MENTES DO DESPORTO v 4 AO CUBO UDR SAMBRASENSE v LOULETANO DC QUARTEIRENSE F. SAD v PADERNENSE CLUBE ASSOCIAÇÃO FARENSE 1910 v JS CAMPINENSE CD ODIAXERE v CULATRENSE CARVOEIRO UNITED FC v INTERNACIONAL ALMANCIL IMORTAL ALBUFEIRA v A.D. QUARTEIRENSE 1937 SC FARENSE v FC FERREIRAS Matches to be played on Wednesday 18th November. Whether we can watch them is another thing! If Imortal win, they would be away in the second round to the winners of the match below, ie Farense or Ferreiras. Complete draw all the way to the quarter finals in March at http://www.afalgarve.pt/pdf/2020_21/Sorteios_26102020.pdf down near the bottom after the Futsal.

Many thanks for keeping us up to date. Is there any further information regarding watching any of these matches? I know there is a local lock down within the municipalities but with just a couple of days to go clubs are not sure whether spectators can attend.
On a totally different subject, do you know what's happening at the Alvor stadium? Last year it looked half derelict but on returning this month the ground has been spruced up with new facilities and the pitch ( grass ) looking lush and in very good condition. Has a new club been formed? Any info greatly appreciated. |

I have been looking high and low for information about whether spectators can attend lower level matches. It's not at all easy as these clubs do not have websites etc where information can be found. However, there was an announcement late last night, following a 'tense' meeting between the Secretary of State for Sport and various organisations, that all sport below the top two national leagues should be suspended this weekend. Predictably there is no confirmation or otherwise as yet on the various League websites. In the original announcement by government, the travel ban did allow those taking part in sports events to cross boundaries. Local authorities apparently have the power to over-ride this. The Alvor ground is being used by Portimonense's Under 23 team who compete the national league for that age group.
