Good stuff Tom, thanks.

So Portimonense are over Tondela [based on #3, 2-1 away goals]. Clap
Setubal goes down to #4 ..... at the moment Portimonense are two goals better off. Confused
Belenenses, who are one point in front, would have the tie over Portimonense on head-to-head. Cry

It'll be interesting! ...... all will be on the last matches on Saturday the 25th.

Belenenses drew at Braga last night, so with two games remaining the bottom of table now reads :

14th - Belenenses 32pts
15th - Tondela 30pts
16th - Portimonense 30pts
17th - Vítoria 30 pts
18th - Aves - pts

Aves already relegated, the other place is between those four.

Remaining fixtures for Portimonense

Monday 20th - away at Paços de Ferreira (13th)
Sunday 26th (perhaps) at home to CD Aves

For  the others :-

Belenenses - home to Gil Vicente (9th) away at Vítoria
Tondela - home to Braga (4th) away at Moreirense  (8th)
Vìtoria - away to Sporting (3rd) , home to Belenenses

Oh dear [again]….. three bad results.....

Belenenses 1-0 Gil Vicente and Tondela 1-0 Braga. Belenenses are now safe.

Tonight, Pacos de Ferreira 2-1 Portimonense.

Vitoria Setubals game in this round is tomorrow, away at Sporting [who have 'nothing to play for' unfortunately]!

This coming Sunday, all the relegation candidates are due to kick off their final games at the same time, 7.30pm. The Ligas other six games are slated for Friday and Saturday evening.

We can only hope Vitoria Setabal get stuffed in their remains two games.

On saying that, Portimonense should win their final game against the bottom club, but you never know.

Tondela rode their luck, scoring on 74 minutes then finishing with nine men after two late sendings off. Likewise Belenenses, with an 86th minute winner in their game on Sunday. Perhaps the gods are conspiring against Portimonense. Fingers crossed that Sporting do the decent thing tonight.

Bottom of the table, one game remaining except Vítoria who play tonight

15th Tondela 33pts
16th Portimonense 30pts
17th Vìtoria 30 pts and play tonight
18th CD Aves 17pts

Both games between Portimonense and Vîtoria were 0-0 draws so all the other various criteria come into play should they be tied on points at the end.

Final games

Tonight  Sporting v Vìtoria. Sporting may actually want to win to confirm 3rd place and avoiding thereby a trip to Kazakhstan or Moldavia or somewhere equally unpleasant in the very early rounds of the Europa League.

Sunday at 1930hrs

Portimonense v CD Aves
Vìtoria v Belenenses (14th)
Moreirense (8th) v Tondela

Tonights result..... Sporting 0-0 Vitoria Setubal …… not good.

So on Sunday, at home to Aves, a loss relegates Portimonense ….. a draw is only enough if Setubal lose at home to Belenenses ….. a win is good enough if Setubal cannot beat Belenenses, also a win would relegate Tondela if they lose at Moreirense [and Setubal win].

I think!

Sporting were all over 'em (69% possession, 14 shots to three) but failed to find the back of the net.

The final game for Portimonense is, I think, a must win.

However if Portimonense can only draw, then it's all down to what happens in Setúbal. If Portimonense lose, they will be relegated come what may.

Should they and Vìtoria finish level on 31 points, Vítoria would be placed above them through a better overall goal difference. Both games between the two were 0-0, so we have to go a way down the tie break scenarios. If Tondela and Portimonense finish on the same 33 points, Portimonense would be placed above them by virtue of having won 2-1 at Tondela. Both teams won away from home (2-1 and 1-0 respectively), but Portimonense would be placed higher on the 'away goals' rule.

Whatever, there are going to be a few thousand nervous TV viewers on Sunday night.

Tom, if Vitoria lose on Sunday their goal difference would worsen to at least be level with Portimonenses [should they in turn, only draw].

Thus, V losing by one in this scenario would mean equal goal difference as well as points, wins etc. At the mo P have scored more goals overall ….. that would be the deciding factor.

V losing by more than one in this scenario would mean P [with a draw] would stay up on simple goal difference.

Sad that the games wont be available on UK tv channels tho, my refresh button will be hot for a couple of hours!

Fingers crossed.

Yes, you are right, many permutations and combinations still possible!

The games may be available via this link which I have used a lot recently. Streams are usually OK but can freeze from time to time depending on the number of users.

Oh dear, Portimonense through the relegation trapdoor tonight. Swapping places for next season with Farense from up the road.

Portimonense 2-0 Aves.
Vitoria Setubal 2-0 Belenenses.
Moreirense 1-2 Tondela.

Anyone with the guts to bet on all three candidates winning would have been Euros in!

It all starts again in a few weeks.

Yes, a lot of sad faces on TV as the scores from the other two games came through. Curious at the end, when the Portimonense players saluted the non existent crowd.

The Liga NOS is due to restart on 12th September. I don't know the date for the Segunda Liga in which Portimonense now find themselves. Still, that might mean some games on a Wednesday afternoon once again.

A press release this morning from the Algarve FA states that a proposal has been submitted to the national FA to re-start local football and futsal competitions in the Algarve from 'the end of September or beginning of October' subject to whatever laws are in place at that time. That's only slightly later than normal, so if we can get under way then, it won't have too much effect.

I can find no definite information on when the national second and third divisions may re-start.

Update on when the top leagues will start. It seems now that the Liga NOS wil start on the weekend of 20 September and the Second Division a week earlier. Meanwhile, all kinds of actions and penalties against other clubs who are defaulting financially may just mean Portimonense get a reprieve from relegation.
